Chapter 903: Equal And Opposite Reaction
As Xu Feng’s attributes were quickly being affected by the Slaughter Chainsaw’s Red Alert Zone, even his resistance was starting to falter.

He wanted to escape, but the Slaughter Chainsaw was devious and shrewd to use its chainsaw to halt his path.

It effectively cut off his escape route, forcing him to choose whether to remain still or advance forward.

‘What a troublesome bastard.’ Xu Feng sneered silently.

Thankfully, Xu Feng’s predicament wouldn’t be for long as Carmen reacted swiftly.

She hurriedly sent a few voidlings and used another taunting skill to distract the boss.

“Face my voidlings, you creepy chainsaw monster.” She shouted.

The Slaughter Chainsaw snorted coldly upon facing the same puny voidlings who had been distracting its attention. With a loud stomp, the Slaughter Chainsaw knocked all the voidlings upward as it then swung its chainsaw in a lightning arc.

The voidlings were killed in an instant, and blood splattered across the ground.

Although the taunt only lasted for a brief moment, it created an opening enough for Carmen to use her Void Portal and arrive near Xu Feng.

Without hesitation, she grabbed his arm and unleashed a knockback skill.

Naturally, it was impossible to knock back a caliber like Slaughter Chainsaw whose size and mass exceeded them by a large margin.

However, due to the failed knockback attempt, the recoil caused Carmen and Xu Feng to be propelled backward instead.

In effect, what Carmen executed was a perfect demonstration of Newton’s Third Law of Motion: for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Since the force couldn’t move the Slaughter Chainsaw, that energy had redirected back into them—sending them flying in the opposite direction.

Thanks to the recoil, the two of them barely managed to escape the Red Alert Zone created by the Slaughter Chainsaw.

At the same time, Xu Feng gave Carmen a thumbs-up for this kind of play.

“Impressive,” he said, feeling that her combat experience had improved by leaps. Such decisive and calculative action made in the heat of the moment couldn’t be done through lectures.

Carmen smiled sheepishly in response, not expecting that the knockback skill could have really recoiled them away to safety. She scratched her head slightly and was about to say something, only to be interrupted by a loud growl from the Slaughter Chainsaw.

In a fit of rage, the Slaughter Chainsaw’s eyes glinted menacingly as its body soon opened numerous small holes. If anyone had a phobia regarding multiple tiny holes, then this scene would be beyond grotesque for them.

Carmen’s face turned slightly pale upon seeing the scene. “Guild Leader, this is disgusting and makes me uncomfortable.”

“Yeah, same here.” Xu Feng pursed his lips and wanted to dart his eyes away.

However, he couldn’t and had to see what the Slaughter Chainsaw was doing to create a counter plan.

He didn’t have a severe case of Trypophobia, which was the fear of tiny holes and clustered patterns, but seeing it was still unsightly to one’s eyes.

Meanwhile, Carmen didn’t have the will like Xu Feng did. She hurriedly turned away, afraid of vomiting in sight if she were to stare any longer.

Moreover, she didn’t have the responsibility like Xu Feng who was considered the strategist in the battle. All she was responsible for was to damage the Slaughter Chainsaw.

But the current moment was impossible to damage it. The Slaughter Chainsaw was at an immunization state, meaning it couldn’t be harmed whatsoever.

“Let me know when it’s done with whatever it’s doing,” Carmen felt nauseous when recalling that disgusting scene.

Xu Feng was envious of Carmen who could just drop the bag to him. ‘I also want to cleanse my eyes. This is reminding me of that fourth challenge.’

Although the current scene was very uncomfortable, it wasn’t horrific enough to cause him to shut his eyes.

A few seconds later, the Slaughter Chainsaw began to seep a green-like substance out from the numerous tiny holes.

His eyes narrowed coldly as he noticed that other than the substance being toxin, it was actually burning the ground.

As the ground sizzled from the heat, white smoke began to appear. At first, it started small, but as more and more of the toxic substance leaked out, everywhere seemed to turn into fog from the white smoke.

“A burning toxic mist…” He muttered, his body tensed up slightly from the sudden change.

Visibility became low as the figure of Slaughter Chainsaw seemed to become one with the fog.

“You can turn around now, Carmen.” Xu Feng reminded her, not forgetting about her previous request. “There’s still those tiny holes in the Boss, but I doubt you could see it with the current fog surrounding it.”

He made sure to emphasize that the unsightly scene was no longer visible, lest Carmen might still refuse to focus back.

Sure enough, Carmen was still skeptical about it. She was afraid Xu Feng might be teasing him, so she slowly turned around. Only when she saw the fog did she heave a sigh of relief?

“Oh, come on. Am I that untrustworthy?” Xu Feng rolled his eyes when he saw her reaction.

“I’m just making sure.” Carmen spread her arms. “You wouldn’t want me to be frightened and then lose my composure, right?”

Upon hearing that, Xu Feng could only resign his fate.

“Anyway, it seems that your play triggered phase 2 early.” He shook his head and returned to the topic. The Slaughter Chainsaw still had around 85-90% of health points, a far cry from the usual phase 2 trigger which should only occur once it was around 70%.

It was either Carmen’s play that had infuriated the Slaughter Chainsaw deeply, or the trigger phase was altered by the System.

No matter which one it was, this only meant trouble for them as they needed to deal with a constant field effect on top of its ridiculous resistance and attributes.

“With the fog active, my beacon relay strategy is rendered useless.” Carmen frowned a bit and noticed how her voidlings couldn’t even catch the boss’ attention anymore.
