Chapter 909: Disruption
With less than 12 minutes remaining in battle, Carmen quickly complained.

“Guild Leader, how long are you going to play dead?” It had already been a while since Xu Feng was killed. She refused to believe that he couldn’t use his self-revival skill.

After all, there would have been a message sent to her by him already, informing her of the situation.

Their communication was already back online, and it remained active even though they were having an intense fight against the Slaughter Chainsaw.

It was just that Carmen had chosen to ignore all messages, only opting out of Xu Feng’s.

“Geez, I was just waiting for a cooldown and noticed that if a teammate dies, the defenses of the Slaughter Chainsaw would weaken further while the damage of the remaining teammate would be amplified.” Xu Feng smiled bitterly as he activated Divine Resurrection to revive himself, albeit with only 50% of his maximum health.

If it were Carmen who had died, then the Divine Resurrection would have recovered her health to full.

It was just a pity that Xu Feng wouldn’t dare to risk such a maneuver.

He would have definitely struggled heavily if he were left alone to deal with the boss.

He didn’t have the great escape skill that Carmen had with her Void Portal. At least, he hadn’t yet unlocked the prerequisites to obtain a similar escape skill.

“You sure know how to make me do the workload,” Unamused, Carmen wanted to give him a good beating. They have less than 11 minutes now and the boss still has 10% health remaining.

Although it looked easy to nuke the remaining health, she highly doubted the boss would let them have an easy life.

There was still that killer’s move remaining of the boss that had yet to be used when it would reach 5%.

The Ultimate Kill Drive move was a target to both of them. So they needed to be very careful, lest they failed at the final stretch. Of course, what Carmen worried the most was the lack of time.

However, she couldn’t complain either because without the additional time boost from the system, then they would have failed already.

“Relax, I’ve figured out the path to victory already.” Xu Feng gently comforted her and reassured her that they would win.

“You’re that confident?” Alarmed, Carmen tilted her head. She was clearly taken aback by his sudden tone which was filled with confidence. Had it been anyone else who uttered those words, then she might have suspected them to be arrogant.

But Xu Feng was never the type to spout those words unless he was certain.

That was just the type of person he was. If he knew then he knew, but if he didn’t, then he would just admit to it or keep quiet.

Moreover, the lie would be easily exposed if they still failed in the end.

Although Carmen wouldn’t blame him, she would definitely feel salty for having wasted so much time.

“Mhmm, so start getting ready to be on the defensive.” Xu Feng warned loudly. Taking advantage of the weakening of the boss, he activated Verdant Collapse and targeted the boss.

The Verdant Collapse had already been fed and matured from the previous skirmishes. It was now unfurling with its massive, vine-wrapped body like a titan rousing from a deep slumber. Towering above even the Slaughter Chainsaw, the plant glowed with a menacing aura.

Alerted, the Slaughter Chainsaw noticed the original harmless plant was emitting a large killing intent.

Alas, it noticed the danger a little bit too late. In the blink of an eye, razor-thin vine tendrils shot out from the plant, wrapping around the Slaughter Chainsaw’s mechanical limbs with crushing force. Every joint and pivot point was targeted, making the boss’s movements stiff and sluggish.

Finally, the collapse came.

The massive central stalk curled inward, slamming down with the weight of a falling tree, aiming directly at the boss’s core.

The impact erupted in a burst of green shockwaves, sending splinters of ethereal wood and tangled energy into the surroundings.

“ROAR!”

The Slaughter Chainsaw let out a distorted roar, its mechanical body shrieking in an intense protest to free itself. Unfortunately, no resistance was able to destroy the plant. After all, it had grown mostly thanks to its attack.

BOOM!

Piles of dust began to scatter across, and smoke consumed the battlefield, but Carmen’s eyes remained vigilant.

Xu Feng had already warned her in advance to prepare to be on the defensive, which meant the final move that could only be triggered when it reached 5% was coming.

Sure enough, within the dust, a red glowing pair of eyes could be seen. And in an instant, the boss rushed out from the smoke, its chainsaw expanded widely.

“It’s coming!” Xu Feng called out.

“Hmph, as if I would let it one-shot me.” Carmen scoffed and was long prepared for the defense. However, she got something that would stump even her Guild Leader.

“Disruption!” She smirked and immediately unleashed a colorful blue grip that quickly interrupted the Slaughter Chainsaw’s advance.

‘Disruption?’ Startled, Xu Feng began to recall that her Void Grip had 4 different sets of effects. The disruption was one of them, but in his memory, what he just witnessed didn’t seem to be the same disruption that he had recalled.

What should have been a fierce defensive clash turned into a comical ending of the Slaughter Chainsaw getting disrupted, essentially triggering the interruption process.

What was more astonishing was that it was disrupted at a critical moment, which prompted it to crash into its own chainsaw, effectively offing itself in a way.

“Phew, it actually worked.” The culprit of it all was none other than Carmen, who quickly wiped away the sweat on her forehead.

“I didn’t know the upgraded version of the disruption to actually work. I wouldn’t have wasted too much of the defensive potion if I knew.” She continued.
