Chapter 917: Joining Vanguard Chamber of Commerce
A Chamber of Commerce was self-explanatory to everyone seated at Braum Tavern.
To join one was essentially sharing their resources and doing in-trading without going through other channels.
Of course, that didn’t mean one would be restricted to one’s chamber of commerce. But it was an unspoken rule to only be more active and loyal to one specific chamber of commerce.
Think of it as buying groceries and becoming a member of one supermarket.
Although one could always get more memberships from other supermarkets, nobody would have the time to browse through all the supermarkets and would usually only have one main supermarket.
And everyone seated at Braum Tavern knew about the Vanguard Guild’s displeasure with Miracle Pavilion.
It was an open secret that the Miracle Pavilion had earned the Vanguard Guild’s displeasure during the exposure of the Global Guild Leaderboard Ranking. The Miracle Pavilion stepped forward to explain the Vanguard Guild’s ranking, which contained traces of disdain or bias.
Moreover, their Miracle Chamber of Commerce was very popular in other regions except for the region that was close to the Vanguard Guild.
What did that mean?
It meant that the Vanguard Guild had been secretly suppressing their influence within the region they controlled.
Now that Xu Feng had even brought forth a topic that clearly compelled them to join his guild’s chamber of commerce. Even an idiot could tell he was planning on competing against the Miracle Pavilion.
What frustrated them even more was that Xu Feng’s new town was at a strategic location—one that could literally usher them to a new height and pull them apart from their fellow competitors.
“Joining the chamber of commerce is free?” Amidst their predicament, Gentle Wind suddenly asked.
“Yes, it’s free for everyone present here because this is my invitation.” Xu Feng nodded his head. Naturally, if one wants to join a chamber of commerce, one must offer a price suitable to the owner’s taste or demand.
But there was also another way, and that was being strong enough to earn an invitation.
“Very well, then our Silver Wind Guild will be the first to join.” Gentle Wind decisively said and continued, “I wonder if there’s any benefit to being the first member.”
Amused, Xu Feng offered, “How about being granted the rights to purchase the Forsaken Set once we decide on a date for the auction?”
The moment Xu Feng brought up the Forsaken Set. It quickly attracted many’s eyes and interest in joining.
Veronica had purposely made sure to conceal the Elite Team’s equipment, but still allowed a small leakage to the public. After all, the Forsaken Set was meant to be their new item to generate revenue.
The Elemental Warrior Set was still great, but no longer a priority as players level up.
Therefore, when news of the Forsaken Set and its effect was slowly spread across, many had already begun to investigate. They wanted the blueprint for the Forsaken Set to craft their own. But without any idea of where to search, only the Vanguard Guild had exclusive ownership of the set.
“Our Phoenix Guild will also join the chamber of commerce.” Flame Bird raised her hand and expressed her desire. She had taken a while because she was communicating with Iceheart, who then relayed the news to the Guild Leader.
Such a decision could naturally not be made by her. She wasn’t Gentle Wind, who owned the Silver Wind Guild and could make all the decisions.
As both the Silver Wind and Phoenix Guilda agreed to join the chamber of commerce, the other remaining guilds were left in a dilemma.
“Guild Leader Lin Feng. I don’t know if we can qualify as well.” Moon Arrow of the Lunar Strikers Adventure Team suddenly inquired.
“We’re an Adventure Team and not a guild, so our revenue isn’t on par with the guilds. Even if we can get the same discount as the guilds who joined, I don’t think we’ll be able to sustain ourselves.” She added.
Guilds and Adventure Teams were ultimately still two different entities.
One could think of Adventure Teams being a nomad whereas Guilds were a stationary entity.
A nomad was someone without any fixed base and would continuously travel around, but a guild was stationary and was guaranteed to soar as they only needed to build upon their base.
As for why players would still choose to be nomads. It was because of one major factor: freedom. Being on an Adventure Team meant unrestricted freedom of movement and playstyle.

Guilds were more restricted and had more rules that shackled players from enjoying freedom. Of course, that was dependent on the guilds, granted that not every country or city would have the same rules imposed.
To summarize, Moon Arrow’s concern was that even if she were to join, it wouldn’t benefit her much.
“I see where you’re coming from.” Xu Feng turned to her and addressed her worries.
“The policy between guilds and adventure teams would be different. Teams could take on tasks that our guild or the town post to help lessen the price. Additionally, teams that are part of the chamber of commerce could sell their materials which we will purchase at 10% above the market price.”
“Just 10%?”
On paper, 10% sounded nice, but it was essentially gifting the Vanguard Guild at that rate. After all, materials weren’t easy to scavenge.
Even the most common materials required time and effort to gather up.
“10% is just the basic package.” Xu Feng explained. “As the teams contributed more and more to the chamber of commerce, the benefit will also increase. At the maximum benefit of our chamber of commerce, members can sell their materials to us at 60% above the market price!”
Moon Arrow’s eyes lit up when she heard the 60%. However, she wasn’t blinded by it as she could pick up on Xu Feng’s glib tongue.
The key words were “contributed more and more” to the chamber of commerce if she sought the maximum benefit.
“You really are a sly one, Guild Leader Lin Feng.” Moon Arrow smiled bitterly.
