Chapter 100: A Man Protecting Her

“You are not leaving?”

“…” Sophia’s smile stiffened when Alex only passed her one indifferent glance and then looked at the door again. She did not qualify to talk to him. Her fury filled her heart again. She had a stomach full of anger already by losing and now a child was throwing her a tantrum.

But she did not say anything. She just looked at his face again and sighed like a disappointed elder and left from there. She did not go to meet Penny but left in her car.

Nora was the next to come out. Sobs filled the hall when the door was opened again. Alex stiffened but when he noticed Nora standing there, he just frowned.

“Why are you here?” Nora was not expecting him to wait for her. If it had been Victor she would have still understood.

“We had a debt.” he looked at her wounds. “Now it is settled.”

With that he turned to leave. Nora rolled her eyes. He had only stood there and did nothing to help her. Yet he said that he was even with her now. When Nora returned to the dorm, only Penny was there. She was packing her luggage. When Penny heard the door opening, she stiffened for a second, but did not turn back. Even when she was alone in the room with Nora, she did not turn to her or talk to her as if she could not see her. But her packing speed increased.

She had already packed her suitcases, only a small bag was left which she finished hurriedly and left the room.

“Tch! Who would have thought that one day you would be afraid of me so much?” The voice was lazy but there was a touch of pleasure in it. Penny knew it too well. She paused at the door, her hands tightening at the knob. How she wanted to return and slap Nora like always. She wanted to remind Nora that she was nothing but an insect which could be crushed by her any moment. But she could not ignore the warning her mother had left.

Gritting her teeth, she replied, “you are going too far Nora. just you wait! You will soon fall from the grace of Alex. and then I will see how you would beg me.” Penny was sure it was Alex who had introduced her to Mr West. he was helping her in making contacts. That man was dangerous but so powerful that she could not go against him.

But that did not mean she could not bring to her side. What Nora could offer, she could offer too.

Penny did not wait for Nora’s reply. Miss Megan had already arranged a second room for her. She shifted her things there and arranged it well. There was one more girl living in this room but she hardly attended school so Penny was not worried about being disturbed.

Once she was done, she left the dorm. It was already evening. There was a football match in two days so the team was practicing for it. Alex was there too with his team. Penny waited in the crowd for the match to end. Her eyes were on Alex.

“It has been a long time since I have seen you on the ground, Penny.” a boy, noticing her presence came to talk to her with a wide smile on his face. His brown hair covering his one eye and his tall lanky body felt like it was moving with the wind. The man was one and only son of the chief commissioner of the city.

“I had been busy with my exams, Aiden. Why are you here though?” she passed him a side glance. Her eyes never leave Alex. The boy noticed it too with a displeasing look on his face.

“Alex caught your eyes?” he asked with a chuckle, “who would have thought that you are into athletes. I thought you like scholars.” Penny wanted to frown but she smiled brightly instead.

“Who did not like a bad boy by his side protecting her from every trouble.” her voice dimmed and when she turned to look at him, her eyes looked pained. “But no, I do not like Alex. But he likes my sister. And now he has become the bad boy protecting her and I have become the victim.” She explained to him how Nora had injured herself and then accused Penny for that. Not only that, she had placed cheating slips in the pocket of their roommates because they supported Penny and spoke the truth. She also added many other incidents where Alex had supported Nora and insulted her. In the end, tears well in her eyes and she stood up to leave.

“I have come here to apologize to Alex and request him to stop targeting me. But now..” she shook her head and left. If she would stay, she would not be able to hold back her tears.

The boy frowned. He looked at Alex with a condescending gaze. When the game ended, Alex scanned the crowd. Nora was not there, his irritation grew despite winning.

A girl came running to him with a water bottle and a warm towel in her hands.

“Alex, you have played so well. I am sure we are going to win this inter school competition easily because of you.” many smiled at him and surrounded him.

“Yes, if a ugly face did not nauseate me, I would win for sure.” the smile on the girl’s face stiffened. Girls who had come to join her, took a step back awkwardly. Alex had always been in a bad mood but he had not insulted them directly. Most of the time, he just ignored them. The girl felt humiliated when many people laughed around her. She ran away.

Alex stared at the other girls as if challenging them to approach him. Intimidated, they also ran away from there with a pale face.

“Wow! What was that for? It felt like you were a jealous lover who had been abandoned and now you are targeting other people.”
