Chapter 103: Never Be Friends Again

“There is.. Something.” Nora hesitated. A hole burning in her pockets. If she crossed this path, she and Alex could never be friends. She would not deserve to be one. But for some reason, his reaction was too strange when she wanted to taste that food.

“I have something for you. Can we meet.” Alric went silent on the other side. The girl ignored him like he was cursed. Now she was asking him to meet her! His grip on the phone tightened instinctively.

“You have a check up due in the hospital tomorrow.” Nora’s jaw tightened.

“I will meet you today.”

“….. i will be waiting for you in the same spot then.” It was risky. Too risky! Anyone could see them there and then Alex would know. But if the food goes stale, there would be nothing to check. She had already wasted a day.

“About the dorm staff!” Nora hesitated. As if the man could hear her troubles from the other side. His voice was gloomy and complex.

“No one would stop you, Nora. But it should be worth the trouble.” she stiffened and closed her eyes.

For a second only her breath was heard by Alric.

“I understand.” he cut the call. Perhaps he had already left to meet her. She went to her room and fetched the small bag she had taken to Victor’s house. She opened the front chain and took out a tissue in which a foul -smelling spring roll was packed. She placed it in her pocket and went out.

Miss Megan was taking rounds. When she noticed Nora leaving, she frowned.

“You! You are living alone in your room now. Right?” Nora knew this voice. Her lips curled into an arc as she nodded.

“Are you a mute? Can you not reply properly to your teachers?” Megan glared at Nora. She did not like her very existence. But thinking about her plan, she hid her anger and spoke in a stern tone, “no one is allowed to live single. I will transfer two new girls to your room in the morning. How did you get an infection?”

“….. with so many things happening around me, i did not get time to treat my wounds well and missed my medications. Now the conditions have worsened.” She could only look at her gauzed wounds with a wry smile. He should have at least given her a hint. What if she was slow to reply?

“Ha! Young ones are really weak and could not bear the pain at all. To throw a tantrum late at night and ask for permission to leave when you have already left so many times. You are not taking the rules seriously at all. If this continues, I will not mind punishing you.” with a stern and haughty tone, Megan folded her hands in front of her chest and looked at Nora with a condescending gaze.

Nora only smiled. If Megan had the power to punish her, she would have already punished her. But she already had so many targets that she did not want to waste time on a small pawn.

She only nodded and left in a hurry. She started running like the day before. One, two, three… she had taken five turns before stopping in front of a secluded spot. A black car was waiting for her in the distance.

She walked toward the car when the door opened and she went in.

“What is it?” Alric had a cigarette in his hands but he was not smoking it. He was only looking at its burning part. The red flicker was reflected in his eyes and it made him look part of the darkness. Burning like cigeratte’s foot.

Nora took out the stale spring roll from her pocket. Only then did Alric turn to look at her with a frown.

“I have stolen this food from Alex’s party last night.” his frown only grew deeper. “He and his friends were going to eat before i arrived there. But not only did he chase his friends away. He had refused to eat it. He asked the staff to throw all of it and replace the food. Most of the dishes were the same.” Alric’s face grew dark. His eyes were so cold that Nora felt a chill on her skin.

He finally took the small tissue from her hands. Their fingers touched. He placed the tissue in his pocket. Silence followed. Nora held the door to leave when he finally sighed.

“I will not force you to go to the race track. But keep an eye on him closely.” Nora felt his pain. As if the man was bleeding. She wanted to ask why he cared for Alex so much when they were not real brother. And.. Why was he going so far for Alex?

Penny and her aunt were still her family. Yet they have.. She shook her head.

“Noted!” She opened the door. “Take care of your wounds too.” she blinked but then realized he must have asked her to change the gauze so that no one would doubt her. She nodded at him solemnly and the car sped off.

Nora looked around. She found a small clinic nearby and went there to change her bandages. After that she brought a new mobile and sim from the nearby shop. Once she returned to her room. She set up her new phone and waited for an hour for the sim to start.

She dialed a number. The call connected in one ring.

“When will my purchase be completed related to the Stone family?” The other party went silent at once and then a soft chuckle filled her room. But it only made her frown.

“I do not remember giving you my number, little girl.” Nora ignored the sarcasm in it.

“After a week, there will be a contract party in the S&N building. It would be a perfect time to start the trouble. I will be waiting for a good news.” her words should be enough for him to take her seriously. Just when she had expeced, he would finally work, the chucke resounded again.

“But i am not taking your case!”
