Return Of The Heiress For Revenge - Chapter 105
Chapter 105: Both Of Us!
“Mom! You know that it is not the weekend and I have just left. Why have you called me so urgently?” Alex looked around with a sense of urgency. But when he confirmed that they were alone in the house, he slowly relaxed and complained to her mother while wrapping his arms around her neck. He had been too cold to her when he had visited last time, now that she looked exhausted, he felt guilty about it.
Amelia stiffened when her son softened because she knew the reason. Alas! That was not the case.
“Alric asked me to invite you.” as expected, Alex flinched and let her go at once. His eyes filled with disbelief which was soon replaced by raw anger.
“So now you need his approval to invite me here! Ha! Hahahah! And here I thought that you finally care about your other son.” he shook his head, hiding his pain with his anger. How he wanted to pick up something and smash it. “I am leaving. Do not call me again. You already have a son to take care of you. You do not need me.” he spat with anger. But as he turned back, he saw Alric standing there with his hand folded behind his back and looking at them with a solemn face.
Alric had not said a word, yet Alric felt his fury. He stiffened but when he realized what he was doing, he glared back with hatred.
“We need to discuss something.” Alric warned in a cold voice. But Alex just snorted.
“And why would I care about that?” with a snort he was going to leave.
But Alric was standing between him and the exit. Just as he was going to walk past Alric, Alric whispered. “Then I have to inform Dad about it! Do not regret that time.” Alex paused. An ominous feeling filled his heart. Alric patted Alex’s shoulders when he stopped and smiled.
“Besides. It had been a long time since my mother had dinner with both of us. You can not disappoint her when had done so much hard work in preparing the meal for us. Would you?” Alex glared at the man. He was the reason that Alex could not have a good time with his mother. Like a shadow, he had followed them and cursed their relationship. And now he was trying to be a caring elder brother! Ha! In his dreams. Alex pushed Alric’s hands away but instead of loving this time, he went upstairs and disappeared.
“Alric, give him some time.” Amelia came forward and looked at Alric worriedly. She knew that he was doing so much for Alex. But Alex was not able to see that kindness due to his hatred.
“It is nothing. Do not worry about it. All teenagers are rebellious. He would mature and be a sincere son.” Amelia smiled, but her eyes dimmed. Alric placed his hands on her shoulders and pushed her toward the stairs. “Now go, talk to him. Or he would think that I have stolen you again.”
“But what about you?” she held the handrail and looked toward Alex’s room with eager eyes but then turned to look back at Alric with reluctance. But how could these small signs be missed by him? He smiled sweetly. A smile that was only reserved for this woman now.
“I have a call to attend. I will meet you at the dinner table later.” Amelia relaxed hearing that and left with hurried steps.
Alric closed his eyes when she left. He walked toward the back garden and leaned on the door. Trees in the darkness looked desolate and cold. Cold winds started to caress his face, coldness seeping into his bones.
He took out a cigarette from his coat and lit it. But he did not place it in his mouth. He kept staring at the burning part of the cigarette with a lost look. He only returned to his senses when the cigarette had burnt his fingers.
“Ha!” He threw the cigarette on the ground and crushed it with his feet. The maid had noticed his presence long ago and was standing behind him with worry.
“My father is home?” The maid lowered her head, making him laugh.
“And you must not know where he was. Do you?” the maid shook her head this time, lowering her head further.
“Does my mother know about it?” the maid flinched. She had not said a word yet Alric had understood. Alric did not notice her struggle and continued, “did they have a fight about it?”
“Madam is understanding. There is no way that she would fight with the Master.” Alric wanted to laugh again but his eyes were so cold and dark.
“Yes, it is only her duty to be understanding. I am going to his study.” he left leaving the maid with limp legs. She fell on the ground the moment he left.
The door was locked but Alric opened it with ease. He sat on the table and stared at the pictures on the other side of the wall. There was a man standing tall with a broad back. His cold and indifferent face looked intimidating. A woman was sitting on a chair in front of him holding a child in her arms. She was smiling sweetly for the camera. There were many other pictures of the man receiving prizes or signing the deals. The woman and child were nowhere in those pictures. There was one picture of Alric standing with the man and signing some papers. Their faces were cold and detached as if they did not know each other.
Alric ignored all those pictures and opened the small drawer from the cupboard. There was a hidden compartment inside it. Only the one who knew about it could find it this easily. Alric opened it and took out a card from inside. He dialed the number without hesitation and called it. Bell rang again and again but no one picked up. A smile appeared on his face and he saved the number.
A storm brewing in his heart.
