“You are working hard these days!” Penny paused, surprised to see Nora leaning on the wall when she had come out of the princip[al’s office. She had expected everyone to leave a long time ago. After all, she had been inside for two hours asking questions about the exam.

Penny smirked looking at Nora who was leaning on the wall with her eyes closed. Her sweater had fallen and her clothes looked disheveled.

“Sister! You should rest more. With your one hand injured, the exam would only be a burden to you. You should give up on such things and rest.”

Her remark was full of sarcasm but Nora only shrugged.

“What can I say! I have been trained to bear pain well. I do not even feel the pain from the wound anymore.” Penny rolled her eyes. No one could ever be numb to pain. To prove that, she walked closer to Nora and held her wrist tightly. Nora gritted her teeth and yanked her hands away.

“Oh! I was only testing if you really are numb to the pain. I guess you still have some life left in you.” if not for the cast, Penny would have already bruised her arms. “If you are here to demotivate me then you are a fool. I will soon rise up to the ranks and win that prize for myself.”

“You can win that prize! But Benard had been chosen for me by your family. As long as I return and apologize to my aunt, I am sure she will fix our marriage date happily.” Penny stiffened. Her eyes went cold, full of hatred. Looking at her reaction, Nora felt a strange relief.

“You know that my pic was sent to him right? Did he recognize me that day? Did he ask for me?” She leaned closer to the anxious penny and smiled. “Should I go and introduce myself to him?”

“Ha! It had been long ago and father had already told Chris that you had run away from the house. Do you think a gentleman like Chris would be interested in a run away girl? And for your information, no! He did not ask for you that day. He was only worried about me that he did not care about anything else. He held my hand and promised me that he would take care of me.” she boosted but her panicked eyes gave away. It meant that Benard had still not chosen Penny. Why?

He was caring for her! Enough to win her heart before marriage. But after that..! Her eyes went cold. She had to help this fool.

“Ha! I do not believe that he would choose you. Aunt had told me that he liked reserved girls. One that gives him a challenge. He likes to win the hearts of girls!” to break them! To make them his conquest.’ a needle stabbed her heart as she thought about herself. She could see her image in Penny. But she did not feel any pity for penny.

“While you darling,” Nora continued, “are fawning over him. You are trying so hard to win him that he will soon lose interest in you and come for me.” she announced with a grin that Penny wanted to slap Nora.

“You!” she raised her hand but Nora only stared at the raised hands coldly.

“Tch! I was only telling the truth. It does not matter whether you want to agree to it or not. I have to study to complete it. I can get Benard anytime I want. So he is not my priority.” she shrugged and left from there.

“You bitch! Do you think he is a fool or I am? You would get nothing but pain in your life.” Penny kicked the wall. Her heart is still in her throat. There was something different about Nora today. She had intimidated her completely.

“Mother has been too lenient on you lately! And Benard! He will never look at you. But… why would mother give Nora advice?” Penny bit her teeth, uneasiness clawing her chest. She had indeed fawned on Benard. But if he liked hard to get girls, then.. Her eyes twinkled.

She took out her phone and dialed a number.

“Hello, Mr Benard! I have a favor to ask. Can we meet this weekend?” her voice was sultry that hardly a man could refuse but the man cut the call without a reply.

She stared at the phone in her hands with disbelief!

“He.. no Penny! He must be angry that you ditched him last time.” she controlled her panic and sent a message instead.

“Mr Benard. I know that I have troubled you a lot these days. I only wanted to apologize and inform you that I will not follow you from now on. I have participated in the international Cum merit Scholarship and entrance exam. I just wanted some help since you are one of the winners of the past. If you have some time, please guide me.” Penny wanted to write more but remembering Nora’s words, she stopped there.

After that, she called her mother’s number. “Mom! Nora had come first in the pretest of the ICMSE exam. Yes! If this continued, she would get admission in a top international university and would never return home. You have to do something, mom. She had challenged me that she would destroy all of us. Something like, she knew the truth and all.” Penny added with a vicious grin on her face. “What did she know mother? And why is she targeting us when we have helped her all this time?”

Her lips curled when silence followed.

“Penny! Provide me her daily schedule. And do not talk to her anymore. I will handle her myself. Did you get that?” Penny faked worry and nodded instantly.

“Yes, mother. I will message you her schedule.”

“Good girl! Work hard and perform better than her in exams. I trust you that you can do it.” Penny scoffed at her mother’s sweet words. If she cared so much for her then she would not have introduced Benard to Nora.
