Chapter 130: Planned Trap

Penny eyed Emma as soon as she entered the class. Their eyes met for a second before looking away. Emma nodded in that second and Penny’s hands clenched.

“Everyone..” She called the class in a melodious voice. “It has been a long time since we all were pressured by the exams.” many raised their heads and sighed. The girl looked at books in their hands with worry.

“But you are not giving the terminal exam.” someone shouted in the crowd. But Penny only nodded with a smile instead of getting angry.

“You are right!” She looked at the book in her hands. “But the inter school exam is just as difficult and I am feeling burdened by it. So, I can feel how much you all are feeling burdened too.”

They all glared at the person. The inter school exam would be much more difficult. Penny was giving face that they are equal since a fool painted like that.

“It had been days since I last slept because I was busy preparing notes of important questions. I have studied exam papers for the last twenty years and ask for the guidance from a few experienced teachers and seniors.

Miss Amaya was kind enough to guide me personally too. And after so much hard work, I have prepared these notes.” She raised her head enough so that everyone could see the files in her hands.

Their eyes filled with envy while a few boys looked at her with appreciation. Penny had always been kind and hardworking. They were sure she would give notes to them if they asked her enough.

“But I do not want to keep them for myself alone. So how about I arrange a large screen in the library and we can study the notes together?” Whispers filled the class.

“Would it not be better to distribute photocopied notes to all of us. Why arrange a group study session?” Nora wrapped her arms around her chest and leaned on her chair as she stared at Penny.

Penny was not expecting Nora to speak at all. But this was good! Her eyes gleamed and her body quivered a bit as if she was scared of Nora.

“I.. Nora, these are notes I prepared myself. I know they are difficult. Even if I distributed them in the class, not everyone would be able to understand them. But if we study together and I explain them, they would be much clearer about them. Of course I will distribute a copy of it after the group study.” she looked sad that Nora questioned her intentions. “I know that you do not like me these days. But we are still sisters. I hope you can come too.”

Everyone looked at Nora. their eyes falling on the cast at once. she had accused Penny that Penny had injured her. Penny had been so angry that time but she was still being kind as if she had forgotten about it completely.

But Nora was still rude to Penny.

“Tsk! Why are you calling her? What if she has another accident there and accuses you for it?” someone spat with venom.

Many laughed and made fun of Nora. Penny’s eyes flickered with joy as she noticed everyone’s hatred for her. Except Victor and a few backbenchers, everyone insulted her.

“Hey! That is not right. She is my sister. And everyone must respect her.” Penny scolded them lightly, “you all know that she had been a weak student from the start. It must have been hard for her. Now that she is ranking first in the class, she has the right to be proud of herself.” Her words earned many sneers.

“Proud! It is more like she is arrogant. And a liar!” the girl hissed again.

“Yes, look at you. You have always been in the top ten students. But even now you are thinking about the whole class instead of yourself.” Many nodded and praised her.

Exams were so close and Penny’s notes could help them gain extra marks.

“Alright, the teacher would be here any moment. I think Friday would be good since everyone can study or relax on the weekend after a long study session. I will ask the principal to install a screen in the library too and call my father to pay for it.” she winked in the last and smiled at many as she walked on her seat.

Kate was sitting beside her. After sharing the same room, she had taken Lisa’s earlier seat to sit with penny.

“Gosh penny! You are so kind. Is that why you did not return to our room? And here I thought that you had forgotten me after last weekend.” The girl spoke so sweetly that Penny cringed. She was holding on to Kate, to make sure she could not be popular. Who did not want an asian friend in the class.

“This is on such a large scale, you have to help me Kate.” she held the girl’s hands making Kate giggle and nod. They talked amiably until a teacher entered the class.

He heard Penny was sharing notes she had prepared and he looked at Penny with appreciation. But then a student told him how Nora had accused Penny that she was only showing off when she could distribute the notes directly. Mr Summers frowned.

He looked at Nora with a disapproving gaze.

“Nora, I know that you have issues with your sister. But you should learn from her. You are topper yet you never shared your notes with anyone. You don’t even respect teachers! If this continues, do you think you can go too far by yourself? Let me tell you, you can not know everything. In the end, you will need our help.” he shook his head when Nora did not reply or apologize. “Forget it, Penny. You should not mind your sister. But to show you support, I will join the study session too. Perhaps, there might be a part where students need my help.” he smiled amiably at Penny, completely opposite to the cold glare he passed Nora earlier.

Penny froze. What if the teacher realized it was her act? She discreetly looked at Emma who grinned and nodded again.

“Al.. Thank you, sir, for your kindness.”
