Chapter 133: I Have No Choice

“Are you serious?” Kate held Penny’s hands tightly “you could be in danger if you listen to them. We should inform your family or police. We can go to the principal too. What if the person had bad intentions?” Penny rolled her eyes. She wanted to curse this foolish girl in her heart.

Which blackmailer would have good intentions. But no, she needed Kate. She needed proof right now.

She hugged Kate tightly and shivered in her arms.

“Kate, I am scared too. But I have no choice. I will be back soon. It is only about money and I have a lot to spare.” she patted Kate’s shoulders as if she was passing her strength to Kate.

“But..” Kate looked anxious. She wanted to stop Penny but she knew Penny would not listen to her. “If that is the case, I will come with you.”

Kate looked nervous, but she said with determination in her voice. That was the effect Penny wanted.

Penny looked uneasy as if she was contemplating but in the end, she shook her head.

“No, that could be dangerous. If I do not come back, you will inform my mother.” Penny squeezed Kate’s hands before leaving from there. She was holding her purse tightly as if her life was depending on it.

It left Kate uneasy. She hesitated only for a second before picking up her phone and following Penny.

Penny had already expected this. Her lips curled with a mocking look but she soon feigned ignorance and sat in her car and drove away.

Kate followed the car from a certain distance. She did not drive closer but she made sure that she would not lose the track. The car drove near the dark alley and stopped near a convenience store. Penny held the folder and a purse. From there, she drove into the dark alley. Kate followed closely.

“Did you bring what I needed?” a man in the dark asked. Penny flinched and jumped at her place. She looked around and hardly found a man leaning on the dark walls.

“First I need proof that you are speaking the truth.” she gritted her teeth. That was the moment when Kate approached closer. Her fingers were just an inch away from the emergency dialing.

“Tch! You know your sister well. Do you have any doubt that Nora had cheated in exams?” Kate’s eyes widened. So, she had not heard it wrong. The man had proof against Nora and instead of exposing her, Penny was trying to save the girl!

“I am not here to prove myself. You need money in exchange for giving me a video where Nora cheated. So you have to show it to me first.” the man cursed under his breath and took out his phone and then he threw it toward Nora.

Kate jumped at the noise when the phone fell on the ground. Penny found it with some difficulty.

A video was already playing on the screen but it did not have much noise or words so Kate was not sure what Penny was watching. But looking at her pale face and worried eyes that showed clear under the light of the screen, Kate was sure it was Nora on the screen.

“Have you seen enough already?” The man frowned with impatience and Penny gulped.

“Yes, but you have to promise that after giving the video to me, you will delete duplicates too. If you blackmail me or someone else for this video then I will complain about it to the police and show it to the world before you can.” Kate could see Penny was scared but she was still putting a brave front.

She was worried that the man would hurt Penny. But to her surprise the man only grunted.

“Tsk! All I need is money. I do not have spare time to care about you or your sister. Give me the money now. Will you!” The man passed a few buttons and Penny’s phone buzzed. She took it out and checked a message.

“Very well! Here.” She passed the bag to the man. The man opened it and took out a wad of cash. He smelled it and then chuckled. He quickly counted the wad of cash and nodded at her.

“It was nice to do business with you. I will call you again when your foolish sister makes another mistake. After all, she is participating in the inter school competition again. Right?” he laughed. Penny gritted her teeth.

“Ha! Only a fool would cheat there. We will never meet again.” She turned to leave but the man only laughed, stopping her in her tracks.

“You are a fool to care about your sister Penny. The girl hates you to the core. If she would have been at your place, she would have used this chance to hurt you.” Penny ignored her words. She checked the message and then looked around.

“If there is nothing else, I will leave first.” the man eyes her with a dark look. As if he wanted something. But in the end, he nodded. Penny jumped from her place and almost ran to her car.

Kate closely followed. The man only checked the money in his bag and then disappeared in the dark. Kate finally felt like she could breathe again as she followed Penny from behind.

She was happy that Penny did not need her help and the man only wanted money. When she returned to the dorms. Penny was already sleeping on her bed. She looked exhausted and pale.

Kate stood in front of her bed and sighed.

“You are too soft-hearted penny. That girl had bad mouthed you and accused you of hurting her. Yet you took so much risk to save her.” She wanted to see that video too but Penny’s phone was locked.

She shook her head and went to the washroom. Just as the door closed, Penny opened her eyes and stared at the door coldly.

“Thank you Kate for caring so much about me.”
