Chapter 135: Enjoy The Limelight

“Why would I sit with you?” Kate frowned and walked away. But there was a stomach full of anger burning her chest. While Nora was sitting too calmly. She was biting a grass blade in her mouth while looking at the clouds. Did she have the right to sit too carefree?

She returned with a frown on her face.

“Do you not even want to act that you are studying for the inter school competition now? Are you not afraid that everyone would believe you are cheating!” Kate cursed hard. Finally Nora raised a brow but then a knowing smile appeared on her lips.

“I know that you live with Penny. But do you always believe whatever she says?” Nora shook her head. “Being immature is also a luxury.” She did not blame Kate. She had been fooled by Penny for a longer period.

She had believed that she was only asked to help in the house because they liked her cooking. Because they are angry sometimes. Because… She used to make so many excuses. Perhaps, she was craving for love so much that she was ready to accept anything.

“Who are you calling immature?” Nora blinked. Her eyes had turned misty but he refused to shed a single tear for them. She stared at the glaring girl and shook her head.

“You would realize it soon, Kate. I hope you won’t regret it like I did at that time.” When Nora stood up, her eyes were so cold that Kate took a step back instinctively. And when Kate came back to her senses, Nora had already walked away.

But even her back was dominating. Kate felt unjustified. She had been scolded instead of scolding Nora.

“Ha! If possible, I would have proven to the world that you cheat.” a few looked at her oddly. When she noticed their looks, she bit her lips and returned to her room feeling wronged. Eating her lunch, she fell asleep easily.

When she woke up with noises around her, she opened her eyes groggily only to see Penny talking to someone.

She sat up on her bed to listen to them well. But they paused when they noticed Kate.

“You are sleeping here?” Penny frowned. “I have been studying so hard to make tonight a success and you are sleeping freely, Kate!” her voice rose and her face contorted.

“Huh! What do you mean?” Kate frowned back, feeling uneasy for a second. Was Penny blaming her when she was helping Penny?

“I mean! I was exhausted and wanted to sleep too. How lucky of you that you could sleep freely.” Penny shook her head. She suddenly sounded hurt. Kate felt a strange uneasiness looking at her sad face. “I am just so burdened. Only to gain appreciation from everyone. If only I was not being judged by everyone after what Nora did.” Penny covered her face with her hands. Kate felt a trace of guilt. Penny must have been having a hard time.

“Wait! So you are doing all this to improve your image. I thought you were doing it because you wanted to share your notes so that everyone could get good marks.” Kate frowned. She felt like nothing was making sense. Then she looked at the young man who had followed Penny into the room. “And who are you? You are not from our school.”

The young man smiled brightly.

“I work for Mr Stone. He had asked me to help his daughter today.” Kate looked at the man again. He was so young. Probably in college. And that smile on his face! It was breathtaking.

“I am Kate.” She did not give her second name but the young man still smiled and nodded.

“Miss Penelope studied for hours until she was feeling dizzy. It must be her exhaustion that she is behaving oddly. You should not mind her too much.” he explained softly as he leaned to pick up two glasses of water for both of them.

“And it is already time. How about I go and bring some snacks while you get ready for your small gathering?” Penny signed and nodded.

She wrapped her arms around Kate.

“I am sorry. I am just feeling overwhelmed.” Kate shook her head and hugged Penny back.

“No, it is alright. I was just groggy because of my sleep and reacted rudely too.” it must be Nora’s words and that awful dream. She shook her head again and sighed.

Penny had been taking care of her since she had shifted in the room. Who doesn’t have some good moments and bad moments. Penny was her friend and she should support her.

The man smiled looking at them but his eyes were strangely cold. He noticed Kate was staring at him and chuckled as he left the room. Kate felt embarrassed. She had never thought she would be caught.

“I.. isn’t he too young to work in an office?” Penny laughed when she heard Kate.

“Why? Are you infatuated too?” Penny winked when Kate tried to refuse. “He is in college indeed. But he is good with computers and working as a part timer. My father is impressed with him. So he did not mind that he is still a student. He is popular among girls. But if you are interested, I can give you his number.” Kate flushed. She got up from her bed and ran to the washroom to change her clothes and get ready. But she heard Penny laughing and bit her lips as she closed the door.

“Damn! But he was hot.” she muttered. The moment she closed the door, Penny’s eyes were cold and hatred was dripping from them.”

“I have been taking care of you for so long. I have only given you a simple task to stay in the library and manage all the technical work. Yet you are here resting like a pig. Yet you dared to accuse me and question me! Ha! Kate, I was still debating but you have left me no choice but to forgive you. Now you would regret going against me.” She took out her mobile and called a number, “you do not need to take the blame. Let her enjoy the limelight.”
