Chapter 139: Still Confident

“How is she still so confident?” Emma looked at the stage with a frown. They took corner seats and did not speak a word from the start to the end. Even when the crowd was slandering Penny. Nora or Emma didn’t move. Many forgot about their presence in excitement. A few of them remembered and glared at them, but stopped when they did not get any reaction.

Nora was only staring at the stage as if she could not see anything else. Her eyes were glued on the question to the limit that even Emma frowned.

And now that penny had returned, Nora was only staring at the young girl. The way Penny smiled was enchanting. Penny was a beautiful girl with a voluptuous body. Many liked her. She had received many proposals but she had always refused them. Telling them that her goal was to be in the merit list and secure a good university. She would not date until she reached it.

Who did not want a perfect lover, many had admired her and told her that they would wait for her.

The way she had handled the situation had made them sigh and feel bad for her.

“She is already so kind yet people did not stop bullying her.” a boy sitting behind Nora cursed. His voice was not loud but many had heard it.

People had their doubts. But they did not diss Penny openly. After all, they have no reason to. The face was not shown too. So, they did not want to ruin their relationship with her.

What the sisters did to each other had nothing to do with them. But Penny had everything: name, fame, image and brains. Why did she need to ruin Nora who had nothing.

Nora was nothing more than a shooting star in their eyes. Her fame would not stay for a long time. Because she did not have a good foundation in study and resources to continue it. Even if she got admission in a top university? Did she have money to live there and continue her study? All she had was Penny’s family to support her but she had ruined her relationship with them. They did not even feel pity for such a stupid girl.

“And the tenure is five years. Is there any question?” Penny scanned the crowd, ready to turn the page when a hand raised.

Penny’s eyes narrowed at Nora. She wanted to ignore it but Nora stood up to make sure everyone noticed her.

“Yes, sister. Tell me.” Penny asked sweetly, looking eager to please Nora.

“I want to know if a chosen minister died, how would the situation be handled?”

“If the President dies, resigns, or is otherwise unable to serve, the Vice President takes over. The line of succession continues with the Speaker of the House, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and then the Cabinet members in a specific order.” Penny replied confidently earning many nods.

“Hmm, but what if it’s just a congress member?”

“Then , the process varies by state. Typically, a special election is held to fill the vacancy, though some states allow the governor to appoint a temporary replacement.” Penny felt an unease. She was going to say that the president chose someone with the confirmation of senate. Was it not the answer?

“And what if..” Nora continued. Slowly the penny took longer to respond. It was because Ethan was searching for answers before replying.

So far, everyone has understood what was happening?

“Will you please sit down? She is not a god to know everything.” Kate hissed as she glared at Nora. “If you want so many answers then go and search for them. Google will help you.” Nora blinked and with a smile she nodded.

“I apologize, I was so drowned in the topic that I did not notice I was wasting everyone;s time.” Kate blinked. She had not expected Nora to accept her mistake so easily and sit with an embarrassed look on her face. Was she really filling her curiosity?

Penny sighed with relief. She gave one grateful look to Kate.

“It is alright. Our goal is to study here. Her questions had helped everyone in increasing their knowledge.” Penny’s hands reached for her hair but she stopped in mid way. If she tucked her hair behind her ears, she would be caught. She scratched her nose instead and the slide changed.

Nora’s eyes narrowed at the little hesitation and finally her lips curled. She whispered something in Emma’s ears.

Emma’s eyes widened and she grinned. Then she stood up and went out of the room. She went to the opposite side of the room where Ethan was. So, Penny did not react much about it.

But after exiting, Emma did not leave. She looked around and entered the adjacent room. There was a large window in the opposite room. She jumped out of it and went behind the room where Ethan was.

That room belonged to the librarian. It was his office and resting place. Library did not have any windows so that books could be saved from the exposure of sunlight. But this room had a large window to not make the place stifling.

The window always remains open. Emma was relieved that Penny forgot to close it. Others might find it difficult to jump at such height. But Emma was trained. She placed her feet on the wall like a lizard and pulled herself up.

She jumped inside with a one swift motion but the sound was enough to startle Ethan. “Who are you?”

He stood up instantly to look what happened.

“And in that case, who are you?” Penny paused. She was speaking in the flow so she did not notice what she was saying but as the words left her mouth, and everyone turned to look at her, she coughed hard.

Everyone looked at her in confusion. Since she stopped in mid sentence and said something unrelated.

“Penny, are you alright?”
