Chapter 143: Lost!

“This is why it is clean!” Penny shouted with a cold glare. She could not believe that no one had come forward to help her. Tears filled her eyes and started to cover her whole face. She looked pitiful and scared.

“Oh really..” Nora tilted her head to look at penny. As if she could not feel pain in her arms. As if his hold was nothing for her. She stood there with a charming but cold smile on her face.

“Then do it again!” She was provoked. “It should not be so difficult. Should it be?”

“…..” silence fell. They all stared at Penny with disbelief. Only now did they remember that Noa had told them the flush was not working and requested Penny to not use this washroom. But Penny was adamant to go inside.

“Is the flush really not working?” asked someone from the crowd, finally understanding what Nora wanted to show all of them.

But if that was the case, what was Penny doing inside for an hour? Why was she hiding there?

All of them looked at Penny in confusion.

“That… i.. You..”Penny understood it too. She was so anxious before that she did not check the flush. She did not realize that she was falling for Nora’s trap.

“You do not dare to!” Nora laughed. “Then let me.” she stared at Ethan who was holding her so tightly, “or your lover would not let me go to hide the truth.” Her words earned another gasp from the group.

Even Kate looked shocked by the revelation. Her eyes dimmed slowly.

“What the hell are you saying! He is only an intern working in my father’s office. You have seen him at home with father a few times!” Penny screamed but Nora only rolled her eyes and stared at Ethan’s hand on her arms.

Ethan swallowed. He slowly let her go and everyone noticed the red marks on her skin. The man was hurting her?!! Why did they not realize?!

The moment Nora was free, she walked inside the cramped washroom and pulled the flush lever. But the flush did not work. the water did not move. Nothing happened.

So, she repeated her actions a few times while staring at Penny with a raised brow.

“I never knew you could do magic!”

“…..” the words finally broke the trance of everyone. They stared at Nora and then at a small toilet seat with disbelief.

“If it had been someone must have already commented, “so Penny was hiding here all this time while lying to everyone! But why?”” Nora mimicked the girl’s voice who had spoken earlier.

The girl went red but she did not have anything to retort. She had been mocking Nora from the start. And Nora had not taken her name, if she would complain, it would prove that she was to blame.

So, she bit her lips and endured. But many looked at Penny with a questioning gaze.

“Penny!” Jake, the football player asked in a worried voice. “What happened?”

Penny flinched. She was hoping that no one would confront since no one had spoken so far.

“I..”

“She did not know the rest of the answers! So she hid here to hide the truth.” Nora scoffed with her hands folded in front of her chest.

“What nonsense are you spouting? She had prepared those notes.” Kate scowled and walked toward Penny. She wrapped her arms around Penny to give her support.

“Yes, that is what I have thought!” Nora nodded, without refusal. But her acceptance brought more questions. They gasped as understanding dawned on them.

It was common for rich students to hire tutors and let them prepare the notes for them. The tutor would then explain those notes to them too. But they have never been this shameless to announce that those notes were made by them.

Worse, distribute it creating a stage!

“She really is a marvel! Fuck! I would pay you a penny, just pass the notes to me at this point.” a young boy cursed as he looked at penny.

“I have prepared those notes. There is no reason for me to lie.” Penny retorted with confidence but many only shook their heads or smiled awkwardly. If she had made the notes, why did she hide in the washroom making excuses.

“It is alright, Penny. It happens. You should go and rest.” someone commented from the crowd but Penny only gritted her teeth. Wouldn’t leaving prove all those points!

“I have asked my tutor to prepare notes for me too. It is common. She was still kind enough to share all of those with us. Why are you making such a fuss?

Nora’s questions must have scared her. If you want to blame, blame her.” Emma snarled and stood with Penny glaring at others.

“Emma!” Penny frowned. She had still not accepted the accusations. But Emma’s words were confirming it.

“It is alright, Penny. You do not need to feel bad. You had notes, you promised them to share it with them and you did so. Now they have read your notes and they want to accuse you. How is this right?” She pulled Penny from Kate’s embrace and forced her to stand in front of everyone.

“Look at them! How could they accuse you after using your things? They got what they wanted, why does origin matter!” Penny nodded. She believes that too. But her class was strange. It was not her mistake, it was theirs.

“Umm, Penny.”

“No, Ethan. Emma is right. I have painstakingly collected those notes and compiled them. So what if I have taken help and I do not know every answer. I will study them. And I am giving you a chance to study them too. Instead of feeling grateful, you all are looking at me as if I am a criminal! How could you be so cruel to me.” she hissed, making many eyes widened.

“Yes, you are right. So do not share the rest of the notes with them. Only those who will come to support you, deserve them. Now let’s go. I will treat you to a warm cup of hot chocolate.”

“But i..” Penny hesitated as she looked at their frowning or stunned faces.

“They would come sooner or later, Penny. They need you.”
