Chapter 144: Did She Run Away?

“Alright. Let’s go. I am feeling tired already.” Penny nodded and left the room under the shocked gazes of everyone.

Ethan narrowed his eyes. Both are fools. But since his mistress had left, he did not have a reason to stick his butt here.

He ignored everyone, picked up the laptop and started working on the projector and screen.

“How can she do this! She is mistaken. Yet we did not blame her. But in the end, she accuses us before leaving?” no one paid attention to who said those words. But they all nodded and started grumbling.

Small groups were made and everyone started complaining.

“I wasted so much time coming here. It was she who had cheated and lied and yet we all suffered.” Kate looked at all of them. She wanted to say something. But she did not know what happened.

“Forget it! Since she is gone, we should go and study too. Why waste your time standing here.” Jake was the first to mutter and many sighed.

The night was already wasted.

“Have any of you thought…” Nora looked at the agitated crowd, “if she could lie about one thing, she could lie about many things. And that video! Do you think it was fake? And if it is, why did she have her fake video on her laptop.” Ethan stiffened when he heard Nora.

He glared at her but to his surprise, she was already staring back into his eyes. It made him uneasy. It was not a mistake. She had intentionally questioned everyone in front of him. She wanted him to listen to it. But why? He would inform Penny and her family and they would find an excuse for the whole thing. Yet, she wanted him to do so? What was she planning? Ethan had never felt this unease. He had always been able to read both sisters.

Penny had always been an ambitious fool while Nora had always been love sick. She would do anything as long as she was given carrot and stick treatment. But now.. He could not recognize the girl standing in front of him.

“That.. tell me Nora, did she really injure you? But why would she do that?” a girl asked purely with the intention of gossip. She had no sympathy toward Nora. But any hand is helping right now.

Nora sighed and stared at the ceiling.

“You all are smart. Many of you are the top students of our school. Why do you think I have left the house and started living in my dorms and my results improved at once?

Just after that, Penny had become hostile to me and wanted to beat me. Not only that, I have been injured. I am sure you all can connect dots. But we are not here to listen to my personal issues. Are we?” they were not. They all looked at each other reluctantly. Some wanted gossip while the scholars were just frustrated because their gains were not enough.

“Yes, we should go now.”

“Wait!” but before they could leave, Nora called for them, again. “I have prepared notes too. If you want to continue..”

Nora’s notes! Many believed that she had cheated in the exams. But if she had not.. She was the topper in the last exam. If she had worked hard for that, then her notes.

“Why would you share your notes with us?” a scholar askd adjusting his glasses. No one is kind to her in the class. Everyone had insulted her so many times.

Nora’s lips curled into a knowing smile. “You did not ask Penny the same question when she offered help.”

“That..” they looked at each other. Penny was one of them but she!

“I am only offering, if you do not want it then forget it.” Penny shook her head and left.

Many wanted to stop her and ask for it. But they could not do so in front of everyone. They all stared at each other stealthily.

“Wait.. i” in the end, the scholar thickened his skin but he was stunned to see the closed door. Wasn’t Penny standing right there, when did she leave?

He ran to the library but Penn was not there either.

“Did she run away! How could she disappear like that!” he opened the door and she was not in the hallways too.

“Ha! She would have lied. Even if she had notes, I do not believe that she wanted to share them with us.” a girl scowled. But a boy shook his head.

“What if we have accepted, what if she had really shared her notes? A topper’s notes!” he mumbled before leaving.

“Tsk! I am done with it.” one left and others followed. But they all were thinking about the same thing.

Next morning, in the class,

“I know that exams are close and you want to hide in your rooms and study. But you must attend the sports period.

One more absence and I will fail you!” The tall and muscular man glared at section A of senior class.

Everyone stood up and left for the grounds hurriedly.

“Today we are going to practice in teams. Choose one partner but girls will only pair up with girls and same goes for boys.” he warned them and whistled.

Everyone started pairing after the whistle. Kate took the initiative to pair with Penny. Penny hardly smiled. She looked so hurt and gloomy as if someone had cheated her.

Others made pairs too but Nora stood there alone. Emma stared at her but Nora shook her head slightly and Emma stopped. She held the collar of a random girl, “you are my partner.” the girl flinched and nodded instantly.

Previously, the class had thirty girls, but Emma had joined them in mid session. Now the glass had thirty one students. Even after making pairs, one is left. And today, that one is.. Nora.

“We are going to sit up in pairs. While one girl will hold the feet of the other, you have to complete at least ten sets of a dozen sit ups.” They all nodded and took their positions. But when Nora went to pick up a mat, many laughed!

“Do you have an invisible Partner, Nora? How are you doing it!”
