Chapter 158: Scared Of Ghosts

Penny waited for Nora to return to class. She wanted to see her condition and laugh over it. But when Nora entered, Penny stared at her with a dumbfounded gaze.

It was not only her, many stared at Nora with widened eyes.

“Oh my! What happened to her?”

“Is she really Nora? I can not believe my eyes.”

Penny had expected similar whispers but for completely different reasons. She had thought Nora would look gaunt and haggard. She had spent a good amount harassing her last night. But the nora in front of her looks.. Stunning!

She had her hair curled and her eyes looked larger for some reason. She was only dressed in their uniform without makeup. But her skin was shining and her lips. Penny felt venom collected in her mouth.

She heard whispers rising again and turned to look at the door. Lucy entered the room with a gaunt look. Her eyes were bloodshot with dark bags under her eyes. Her hair looked Messy and she walked like a ghost.

“What happened to her? She looks like she has seen a ghost!” elbowed a girl to Lucy’s roommate. The girl shook her head.

“I have no idea. She did not return room last night.” she mumbled back while staring at Lucy in confusion.

“Lucy, are you alright?” her deskmate asked when she sat in her seat. But when Lucy shot her a cold look, she shut her mouth and looked at her book. Lucy had a short temper from the start. But she looked so intimidating at this moment that she could not continue.

Penny stared at Lucy and then at Nora. Nora was smiling at Victor and passing him a notebook.. As if she had noticed Penny’s gaze. She looked back at Penny and smirked.

Penny was startled. She felt guilty for staring. But then, she fumed and glared back. But it was already late. Nora was writing something in her book. She did not turn to look at Penny again.

Penny felt insulted. But she had no way to vent. She could not start an argument with Nora just because she had glared at her.

Cursing, she opened her book and concentrated on her studies. She could not believe that Nora could defeat her if she went out every night with boys and slept in that dark room.

This time, she would defeat Nora in an inter school competition and get rid of her once and forever.

Lucy attended the classes with a blank mind. She was sleepy, irked and frustrated. And all this was because of Nora.

Thank goodness, she did not need to attend all the classes because of an upcoming football match.

“All the football players and cheerleaders are called to the field for practice.” The announcement soon rang and Lucy left the class with other boys and girls.

Nora smirked when she noticed Lucy staring at her too.. Lucy’s hands clenched into a tight fight.

“Lucy, are you okay?” Jamie walked to her with a cold water bottle in his hands. He passed it to her with a look of concern in her eyes. Lucy melted. She closed her eyes and cherished that coldness. Nora was lying. She was only whispering venom to fool her. She had to get rid of those thoughts or she would not be able to relax.

“I am feeling much better now, Jamie. Thank you.” She smiled sweetly like a cute girl. But it did not suit her. “Jamie, can we go out this weekend for a movie?” she had to ask. Now or never. She had already waited enough for that right moment.

“Oh! This weekend will be difficult. With upcoming exams and matches. How about we go after exams? I will book the tickets in advance.” Lucy nodded with dim eyes. After the exams, it means next month!

“Alright, I like romantic comedies.” he must be busy, she should not force. At least, he did not refuse.

“Oh! But I like action more. I am sure you will like them too once you see them.” he winked at her and ran away as the sound of a whistle echoed in the ground.

Lucy nodded. But a strange heaviness filled her heart.

“Come on everyone take your positions..” She shouted while brushing away those feelings.

“We were much better than those players. Everyone has worked hard!” She praised everyone. They all laughed and chatted with each other.

Lucy started at the distant players. They were either drinking water or discussing the game while wiping their sweats. Lucy noticed Jamie standing with a few friends and laughing. She noticed Penny had come there.

She was talking with a few boys. From the start to the end, she did not go to talk to Jamie. Neither Jamie looked at her. As if they did not know each other.

“Ha! Only a fool would believe her words.” Lucy repeated in her heart. Penny looked at her and waved her hands. But Lucy shook her head and signaled that she needed to go somewhere and left the ground.

She did not notice. When she turned to leave, Jamie’s eyes brightened and he looked at Penny longingly.

Lucy took heavy steps toward the library. She would smash Nora on her face when she would meet her.

“It must be her recent fame that has influenced me.” Lucy shook her head. She felt guilty that she doubted Jamie. He was only busy with game practice and exams. Yet, she was being so childish.

She opened the door and scanned the room. Nora was sitting on the corner with earbuds covering her ears. There was a book in her hand. She looked so engrossed that Lucy felt infuriated.

If not for the library, she would have screamed her name and punched her already. She inhaled a deep breath and walked to the girl. She slammed the table hard to get Nora’s attention.

“Where did you sleep last night?” She had looked everywhere the whole night, but she could not find Nora at all.

Nora quirked a brow with an amused smile on her face. “You have not come here to know about it. Do you?”
