Chapter 164: A Tigeress In Sheep Clothing.

“We need a replacement in the team for practice.” a boy scanned the girls sitting in the corner and then a lone girl with earbuds in her ears. “You, come with us.” he pointed at Nora.

Nora raised a brow but did not move. The boy frowned when he did not get any reply.

“Nora, I remember that you do not have any team to practice here. One of the girls in the team is not feeling well. And I want a replacement. Come with me.” he explained again but Nora still did not move. She only stared at him as if he was a fool.

The boy felt embarrassed the way she looked at him and his frown grew deeper.

“If you do not come with me, I will complain to the teacher and you will lose your marks.” he warned with a cold glare. “You only need to pass the ball. It is not a difficult job. And if you come with me, I will ask for extra marks for you. Come on, you can do this easily.” Nora wanted to laugh at this carrot and stick method. It would have worked perfectly with her earlier naive self. But now she could smell the trick from a distance.

But then she nodded and stood up.

The boy was feeling uneasy. It was a simple task but the way Nora looked at him made him feel uneasy.

He wanted to run away under that cold gaze.

“Fine! But remember! Extra marks.” Nora stood up and patted the dust off her clothes. The boy relaxed instantly and nodded.

“Of course, all the players get extra merit points. You would get some too even if you are just a replacement.” he grinned at her and led the way. Gloating inside his heart. “You can enjoy those marks while staying in the hospital.”

Nora still had cast in her one hand. She did not get the time to visit the hospital and get it removed thanks to Lucy and her gang tricks..

So, everyone believed that her hand was still broken.

“Tsk! Did you bring a handicapped to play with us?” a boy snorted when they noticed Nora walking in the group.

Lucy paused in the cheerleading group. Her eyes instantly scanned the spectators and noticed Penny grinning. Her eyes looked so malicious that it stunned Lucy.

“Lucy!” a girl beside her called and only then did Lucy change her posture. But her heart was clenched tightly. Why had she never noticed before! Penny was this vicious! And she had helped Penny so many times. Like a fool she had become her tool.

Lucy wanted to interfere but when she noticed the indifferent look on Nora’s face, she stopped and shook her head.

How could a tigress need a leopard’s help!

“I only came here because he chose me. If you do not want me, it is fine.” Nora turned to leave.

Jamie frowned. He had thought they would insult her for a long time. But she was leaving just with a sentence?

“Wait!” the boy who had brought Nora glared at others. And then looked at Jamie. “Every girl had already made a team for practicing gymnastics or other core exercises. She was not chosen. She is our only choice.” he looked at them meaningfully.

But another boy snorted.

“That is because no one wanted a handicap in their team. What was she even doing with her broken hand? Did she not feel any shame?” the boy snorted with a look of disgust.

“Her skin must be very thick.” Jamie added with a sigh. “But it has nothing to do with us. We need a player and she is the only one available. More than that, football is played with feet but foolish girls never understand that they break the rules. Since her hand is broken, we didn’t need to worry about that part at least.” His words earned a wave of laughter and chortles.

They all looked at her with disdain and laughed. The words were loud enough for others to listen too.

Many laughed from spectators. Nora noticed Alex standing up from the crowd. She slowly shook her head. Alex paused and adjusted his uniform before sitting again. Many looked at him oddly but did not comment.

“If you are done!” Nora spoke in an indifferent voice, “are we playing or not?”

Her gaze and voice silenced them. They all looked at her in confusion. They could not believe that she was not affected at all. Her cold look must be a way to hide her embarrassment.

Jamie had only planned to insult her. They were sure that she would run away after that. But she was still standing there and looking at them coldly. That was not their plan.

But plans could always be revised according to conditions. Could they not?

“Of course we are playing. Let me guide you with basic rules.” Everyone looked at Jamie in confusion. They were only told that they were going to have some fun with the girl.

But they would never play with a novice and injured girl.

“It is alright. She is the star of the school with such a good rank. I am sure she is smart enough to understand basic rules. And we are only having a practice match.

This way, we would have a complete team to play with and she would have some extra marks. Even if she just stands there like a statue, I have complete trust in my other players. We can still win against them.” he pointed at the opposite team. Mikey had spoken from the start.

He only looked lazily at Nora. when he noticed that she did not need help. He started looking at his girlfriend in the crowd again.

“See, they did not mind.” Jamie looked at his uneasy team and smiled.

They all sighed and nodded reluctantly.

“Alright, but I am not taking responsibility if a foolish girl falls or injures herself. You better run away now or keep your mouth shut later!”
