Chapter 166: Amount Of Drugs!
Mike stared at Nora as the game started. His eyes narrowed at the girl when she slightly shook her head. Anyone would miss her action if their eyes were not on her. He looked away toward Jamie.
“You are going to lose it. Not a single member of your team would go for the competition.” His voice was calm. It felt more like a fact than a provocation. But Jamie only smirked.
“Mikey! Oh Mikey! Have you increased the amount of drugs you are taking with Allex? Your delusions are increasing day by day. It is dangerous.” Then he turned to look at his team. “As his friends, we should help him in getting rid of these delusions. What do you say, boys?”
Cheers filled the ground. That is the moment when the coach returned with a red face. He was cursing someone when his eyes fell on the ground.
“What the.. Nora! What are you doing in there!” he scowled as if he wanted to kill someone.
Mikey hesitated. He had made sure that the group of boys would keep the coach busy in the locker room until they dealt with this girl. If he explained better…
“I am earning a few extra marks by participating in a game.” before Jamie could find an excuse. Nora spoke with a sweet smile on her face that stunned them.
Can a girl smile? That also so sweet?
“But you are not part of their team. Do you even know how to play football?” he crushed and looked at every member as if they were all fools. “Oh, forget it. Go ahead if you want an experience. Everyone is playing here foolishly anyway. But after the game, you are going to face detention for two hours!” he murmured another few curses and left from there.
Jamie and his team were stunned. She got the chance to play just like that? Wasn’t their coach cold and stubborn and did not listen to anyone?
“She had been having these detentions daily now. Do you think..” a boy whispered to everyone who looked at him with a strange expression.
“Teach her a lesson. We are not going to get another chance. Back to your position” he clapped on the shoulder of his friend and everyone nodded.
The whistle blew, and Nora took her place on the field. Jamie and his team exchanged quick glances, smirking as they spread out around her. Keeping her behind Jamie, they all took the position to either stop the opposite team or become a passer.
They all looked at her when the ball was passed to her. Nora srmiked. So they did not even care if they won the game or lost it just to teach her a lesson.
But when the ball touched her feet. She felt a strange thrill. They did not know but she had always loved sports. The touch of the ball, the cheers of the crowd and the team, it left a strange thrill in her body.
She moved with a surprising agility, darting around their defensive line. The game continued with Jamie on Nora’s team, though he seemed anything but supportive. When he passed her the ball, it was always with a little too much force, as if daring her to handle it. Nora received each pass with steady control, even though the strain showed in her tense jaw and steady gaze.
Jamie’s friends weren’t subtle in their rough play either; each time she got close to the goal, one of them shouldered her or attempted to throw her off balance.
But Nora wasn’t backing down. Every shove was met with a swift recovery, every hard pass with deft control. Jamie, watching from a distance, saw her determination and couldn’t deny she was holding her own. She dodged a particularly brutal tackle from one of his friends, barely flinching as she flicked the ball over their heads with ease.
Mikey and his team looked at each other in confusion. They did not get the chance to fight with Jamie and his team. The team was fighting with each other. Thrice, the ball was going to reach the goal by Nora. But her own team had pushed her away.
They looked at the coach for help. But the man looked spellbound. He was staring at Nora as if he was looking at a miracle.
“Coach!”
“If you can not play, leave the game. Do not disturb others.” Mikey gritted his teeth. How was this game anymore? They were assaulting Nora.
“Mikey, we can easily win this game as long as we play hard.” there was nothing to win. Just to hurt Nora, Jamie’s team had already passed the ball to them twice.
“Play well. You can target anyone. But do not hurt her. She already has her plate full.” they sighed as they looked at Nora. There were four boys surrounding her. Both were pushing her from the sidelines or forcing her to change her path or they would knock her off.
“They are foolish!” The defender stopped her ball with a simple jump.
But Nora was only looking at the goal. She had made an arc. But Jamie had still taken the ball from her. Mikey’s team member easily took the ball from Nora. but before they moved further. The ball went to Nora again.
A collective gasp ran through the crowd as she closed in on the goal. She spotted Jamie signaling for the ball and, with an artful pass, sent it his way. But Jamie, intent on testing her resilience, sent it back with an even sharper kick, hoping to throw her off.
Yet again, Nora’s focus held firm. She trapped the ball with ease, sidestepped a final defender, and—with the crowd roaring—sent a flawless shot into the top corner of the net.
The field was filled with cheers, and Jamie’s friends exchanged uneasy glances. She had played like a champion, facing every challenge with grit and skill. Jamie finally met Nora’s gaze, a flicker of reluctant respect showing as she gave him a small nod, her face set in quiet triumph.
