Chapter 168: Play Games

“I never knew you could play football. You are joining our team.” it was not even a question at this point.

Nora looked at the distance. Her eyes met Penny. The girl was sitting there with a grim look on her face. At most, she looked exasperated, but the hatred was not evident in her eyes. When their eyes met, Penny smiled at Nora instead. She stood up and left as if a boring show had ended. Nothing was worth her attention now.

Nora’s gaze narrowed. She looked at distant lucy. She was already talking to Adam. The plan was going smoothly. She had achieved great success, which is why she was feeling so uneasy then.

“Nora!”

“I am sorry, coach. I have an inter school competition that day. As you know, I could not participate in both. It will affect my performance.” she shook her head. The coach went grim. His face was dark and ugly. The players did not know how to react. This was the first time someone had refused a coach. Most of the time, s[portsman die to get a good position in the game. Yet.. Nora was refusing it.

“Think about it again, I will wait for your reply tomorrow. Now leave.” he asked them to leave, but he left instead.

“Are you sure you do not want to participate? You play well. It will be such a waste!” Chris took a step closer to her and it took all in her to remind herself that he was not the Chris she hated.

“I am not refusing to play. I can play anytime you call for me. I am only informing you that I will not be in the city that day. So I can not participate in the match.” the boy sighed and nodded in understanding.

“Sad! The empty spot would be taken by Jamie then.” he mumbled, earning a glare from five members.

“Do not go too far, Chris!” one warned but Nora had already shook her head and excused herself.

She went to a bench and opened the water bottle. Penny was not raging. Why was Penny not raging? She was sure Jamie and his team had targeted her because of Penny.

She took out her mobile phone and dialed a number.

“Are you alright? How is everything going?”

On the other side, Lucy seearched for Nora and found her sitting on the bench.

“I am going out with Adam and will return late. Do not worry too much about me, sister. I will have fun.” Adam smiled at her reply. It meant she was introducing him to her family. If only he knew.

“Always keep my number in emergency dialing and keep sharing your location with me. Something is not right.” she could feel it. But she did not know what it was.

“Alright, do not be a worrywart. I will talk to you later.” Lucy cut the call and Adam held her hand as they both left.

Nora stood up and found Jamie on the ground. He was practicing alone. She wanted to see penny.

She left the ground but Alex blocked her way before she could reach hallways.

“Alex! You scared me.” he had come suddenly and she was not prepared. Her eyes widened and she rubbed her chest.

Alex titled his head as he stared at her face, her collarbones and slowly his gaze roving all over her body.

“Your loverboy did not attend school today. Do not tell me last night was so intense!” His voice was full of mockery that paused Nora.

“Alex..”

“You have accepted his proposal. Haven’t you?” He did not give her a chance to speak as he cut her down and took a step toward her.

Nora frowned. She realized that Alex was infuriated but she did not understand why?

“Yes.” she nodded. She had never planned to hide it anyway. “Victor proposed to me last night and I accepted. But it is not like..”

“Ha! It is not like what i think? Do you even know what I think Nora? Am I even capable of thinking in your eyes?” he hissed with venom in his voice making her blink.

She did not understand why he was spitting fire.

“Why are you so angry with me?” she frowned and held his hand but he yanked her hands away.

“Because you are a selfish manipulative girl. You act innocent and expect me to believe you. You know very well what you have done.” he turned to leave but she followed him. He looked back at her with a tilt of his head.

“Do not follow me again. You are not in my protection anymore.”

“…” Nora wanted to continue. But Alex’s cold gaze told her that she would regret it. She frowned and muttered a curse under her breath.

A girl she was searching for earlier, came out of the shadows and leaned on the wall. Her hands folded in front of her chest and she looked relaxed.

“What happened, Nora? Did Alex leave you?” Penny tilted her head. Her lips curled into a smirk. “You have good options Nora. But you made a bad choice. You should have stalled your final decision until you have graduated. Now look, by choosing Victor, you have lost your strongest backer. Do you think you can survive the school without alex?” Penny shook her head with a look of disdain.

“You did it! You manipulated him?” Nora hissed only for Penny to laugh.

“Me!” she pointed at herself. “What can I do? You have already manipulated everyone. My friends had become my enemies. The class did not respect me as before and now. You are changing my friends. I only told Alex the truth in exchange. He must know that he was wasting time on you.” Penny walked closer until she was just an inch away from Nora. “Now I want to see how you will survive without him. How much guts do you have? Your chocolate boy only knows how to smile and play games!”
