Chapter 172: Where Is Alex?

“Mikey, do you know where Alex is?” Nora was already booking a cab to leave the dorms. She clutched her phone tightly as she called Mikey.

Loud music was heard before Mikey could speak. A part of her hoped that he would reply. Alex was with him.

“Umm Nora. I do not know. I am out with Alisha. We are celebrating our small victory today. I did not see Alex. But I am sure he must be in his room sulking.” She heard the background noises and knew there were many people around Mikey.

She went silent but did not cut the call. Her mind was already wandering when Alex realized something was amiss.

“Did something happen, Nora?” he walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. “Did you and Alex have a fight?”

Nora sighed. Her voice fell and her eyes dimmed.

“Mikey, maybe I am just overreacting. But can you tell me where Alex could go when he did not feel good. I am thinking of a racing arena or that club I had met him in.”

“Yes, these are the only two places where he often goes. But it is rare for him to go all alone. Wait, I will call Adam and ask.” Nora closed her eyes, cursing.

“Adam is out with Lucy too. I will go and look at myself. Sorry for troubling you.” She bit her lips and cut the call.

But she did not move instantly. For some reason, a paper cutting from her past life kept knocking his mind.

Alric was the sole inheritor of all the property. Not only that, he had inherited all the businesses belonging to her wife and killed her whole family. He had killed everyone around him and earned so many properties that even the court was not able to punish him. He held unprecedented power. A complete power to rule over the country with that power.

Alex had died at that time. The matter was completely sealed. But there were rumors that he had killed Alex too.

“But he cares too much for Alex.” he had asked her to keep an eye on Alex to make sure he was safe. But what if… what if it was all a lie? What if he was using her to spy Alex. What if he had hired those goons to feed Alex drugs? What if he was making sure that Alex was using those drugs on time.

“Maam, do you still need a taxi or not?” Nora hastily nodded and entered.

“To this address please.” She had written the address of the racing arena where Alex spent most of his time. He loved racing. It helps him in venting his emotions. Though he had never confirmed, she knew he cared for his family.

He did not return there because of Alric.

Nora’s phone vibrated and her screen showed Alric’s name. She stared at her phone as if she was staring at a devil.

Alric saves the lives of thousands of people through his chain of hospitals. He had always helped her. But her uncle had.. She shook her head. The emotions were taking better off her.

The screen dimmed and a missed call was shown there when she picked up the call.

Before she could press the button, the phone vibrated again.

“Hello!”

“Where the hell are you and what happened there?” The voice was full of anxiety. It did not sound like a man who had everything in control.

“Alex is missing.” her mouth went dry. “You will think I am exaggerating. But I have a bad premonition about it.” she must have sounded like a fool since the other side went silent.

Alex is a grown up man not a child that she was creating such a scene because she could not find him.

“Do you have any inkling where he could be?” Nora let go of the breath she was holding.

“He might be in the club or racing arena. I am going to the racing arena to check. For some reason, I feel he is in danger.” he had not given his finals. He had been in hospital at that time.

But she had heard gossip. What if it was around this time that he was drugged too much!

“Then I will send my men to look in the club. Do you think he is..” the man hesitated but she could hear the silent question.

“Yes, I think. And i.. He will be addicted or he has already been addicted.” she heard something breaking with force and flinched.

“We will find him.” was all he said before cutting the call. It took twenty more minutes for the cab to reach the racing arena.

Nora was much calmer than before when she paid the driver and entered the racing area. But the lights were dim.

“No race was going on. There were a few sitting and drinking near the resting tables. They turned when they heard the door opening.

“What is Alex’s bitch doing here?” asked someone more to Nora than others.

“She must have come sniffing him. Why? You can not let him go anywhere else without you?” he mocked her with a look of disgust in his eyes.

He picked up the bottle of bear and drank the rest in a single gulp.

“Is Alex here?” She knew these groups. They have often competed with Alex and lost. The one who had spat, Mark. he was the biggest competitor of Alex.

“Is Alex here?” he mimicked in a feminine voice. “Are we your servants to find Alex for you, Bitch?” he spat and threw the bottle on her feet.

Nora stared at the broken shards near her feet and then at his cold glare. Her lips curled into a sneer.

“Why? You do not have the guts to throw the bottle at my face because you are afraid of Alex. You are only doing this to get rid of your inferiority complex. It is alright, I understand. All I need to know is if Alex is here?”
