Chapter 176: Do You Have A Girlfriend?

“How old are you?” Asked Alric in a cold and fiery voice. His men behind him inches away from Alric. Their eyes were looking everywhere but at Nora.

She had been unconscious all this time. There was a time when they felt the girl was gone. She was taken to an emergency room the moment she was brought into the hospital.

Her condition was severe. she had received treatment yet she did not wake up. She had only come to her senses now, after two hours of her treatment.

When they saw their boss entering the room to ask about her condition, they praised the girl. They were impressed by her bravery. How she had handled all the guards alone.

Only two were left for them to handle. But they have never expected their boss to lash at the girl. They looked at her sympathetically. But they did not dare to retort against their boss.

Nora raised a brow. Only a fool would believe that she was terrified or her senses were dull that she did not reply. she was looking at their boss with a cold gaze full of disdain as if replying was beneath her.

“What were you even thinking? Have I not asked you to stop outside and only keep an eye. I will come with the force. I have not even dared to come alone. Yet you have entered inside as if you are a warrior. How old are you to not know this?” This time his scolding was even severe. His voice was so cold that his guards felt bad for the girl.

“The reply might terrify you!” she replied with a sigh. Even now, she was not scared. She only looked helpless as if she was dealing with a cranky child.

They did not know how a seventeen year old girl’s age would terrify them. But her calm and indifferent look had definitely terrified them.

“What did you say?” Even Alric blinked. He had never looked so dumbfounded before. They wanted to take a picture so that they could look at it later and marvel.

“If I have not interfered. They were going to give him another dose. Alex would have been heavily injured if that would have happened. How is he now?” She tried to sit up but Alric placed his hand on her shoulders and pushed her back on the bed.

“You are not in the condition to sit or stand. You have only healed your hand and now you have injured your waist. You are such a troublesome child.” he shook his head and exhaled a deep breath.

What shocked others were, his rage also vanished with it.

“Alex is still unconscious. Max said that he was brought on time, they could use medicine to take out drugs from his blood. If it had been any later, the amount of drugs was enough to make him addicted for his whole life.” his voice was quivering at the end.

He titled his head and looked at his guards. They realized and bowed toward Nora and left the room. They could come to thank her later.

“Nora..” his voice trembled and he held her hand. “Thank you! I owe you this time. Even if you ask for my whole chain of business, or my life, I will not hesitate to give it to you.” Nora stared blankly at her.

Not because she doubted his sincerity but because she did not understand it.

“Why?” she could not hide the question anymore. “Alex is not your real brother. He is the real heir of that family while you are an illegitimate child. He is a threat to your position and he hates you. Would it not be beneficial for you if he died? Or he became a drug addict? Then why do you want to save him?” Nora felt the temperature drop in the room.

His eyes were covered with a layer of frost, his warmth disappearing completely.

“Because he is my brother. What is real and what is fake! We have the same blood in our body and his mother is everything I have. If I have to exchange my life for him, I would not hesitate even for a second.” there was no hesitation in his voice as he patted her shoulders.

“You need rest. I will send Max to check you later.” she knew she had hurt him with her question. But his reply made her more uneasy. How easy it would have been if he had given her a realistic reply.

Alric held the door but did not leave. He stared at her lost face in the mirror and sighed.

“I have paid you for keeping an eye on Alex. You would have achieved your goal if you would have just waited and informed me the details. But you placed your life in danger. When you have so much to achieve, when you have to take revenge. Yet you did it. Can you tell me why?” Nora blinked. She looked startled. Now that she thinks about it, she had no reason to place her life in danger.

What if she had died without taking her revenge. But did she regret it? No! If the time would rewind, she would take the same decision again and save him, putting her life in danger.

“Alex has saved me many times. I do not like owing anyone.” she replied after some thought.

But her cheeks flushed when he saw her lips curling into a rare smile. It was not a condescending smile he often gives. Nor was it his professional smile. But a genuine one.

“Rest! Now I owe you one and even I do not like owing others.” Nora closed her eyes when Alric left. Then she took out her phone. There were many missed calls. Many of them are Victor, Lucy and emma. She dialed Emma first.

“You have followed them?” she heard a squeal from the other side.

“Where are you Nora? Miss Megan has announced that you have broken the rules of the school and you have been suspended from the school for two weeks!”
