“Did Victor visit while I was sleeping?” Nora frowned as she looked at the food packet on the table. It looked fancy and the smell was enticing. She picked up and had a bite but frowned. The food didn’t taste like usual.

“No, send my miss Amaya. She said , “Thank you.” Thank you! Nora wanted to laugh. The woman was territorial and she had marked Nora as her enemy. Nore did not understand why! She had not crossed her, but if she wanted to be added to the list of her enemies, she did not care anymore.

She closed the lid and placed the food back on the table.

“What happened, Nora? You did not like the taste?” Nurse had finally checked her temperature and changed her dressing.

“No, Victor would come with lunch. He would be disappointed if I ate without him.” Nora blushed as she said this. And as expected, the frowning nurse’s face softened at once.

“Youngsters in love!” she shook her head and picked up her tray when Nora stopped her.

“How is Alex now?”

“Oh, he woke up an hour ago. That is the reason Miss Amaya thanked you. She did not write that in the note?” looking at the confusion on the nurse’s face, Nora checked the food packet again but there was no note in it.

“Strange, I have seen her giving a note too. Did it fall somewhere?” The nurse looked around, searching for the small note but Nora did not need to.

She only rolled her eyes at the petty trick and stood up.

“But the drip..”

“I will continue it after returning. I need to see him.” looking at her unrelenting face, the nurse sighed. She helped Nora since she was afraid her wounds on her waist would be stretched.

But she noticed, it was not the case at all. Nora walked with ease.

Amaya was sitting with Alex’s mother while scolding Alex. he was looking at the window, not even facing them. She stopped at the door.

“This time, you have been too insolent. I will not save you from your father when you return home. If not for Nora..” the woman sighed, her face was full of rage and grief. “Alex, you are getting older. When will I stop worrying about you? Why can you not mature?” her voice quivered, choked with emotions. But Alex still did not turn to look at her or replied as if he did not hear her at all.

“Alex! Do not blame aunt. She is worried for you. You have no idea how much she cried when you did not wake up.” Amaya sighed and rubbed his mother’s shoulder.

Looking at her worried face, who would not believe that she was part of their family? But Nora had faced her aunt and Penny for the lifetime. When she saw an actor, she recognized at once. Her lips curled into a cold smirk when she noticed Amaya playing the role of a meditator.

“And aunt, give him some breath. He had just woken up from an accident. He needed rest.” Alex finally turned to look at Amaya and Nora almost laughed.

The girl had not told Alex her story and let Alex’s mother scold him for a long time. What if he had spilled truth and.. She did it intentionally. But when she noticed that her trick was not working, she finally revealed her story to earn brownie points from Alex.

“It is alright. As long as you pay attention in the future and do not let strangers come closer to you. It must have been a shock for you too.” Amaya walked closer with a glass of water for Alex.

Alex stared at the glass but did not move to take it.

“Alex, Amaya had taken care of you all this time. If not for her, I would have.. I did not know how I would have managed.” noting that Alex was staring at Amaya coldly, His mother childed him with a frown.

Amays only smiled softly and put the glass back.

“Aunt, you should spend some time alone with Alex. I will go and meet Alric.” with dimmed eyes and sad face, Amaya left as if she was deeply hurt.

Alex’s mother frowned and followed Amaya only to see Nora standing at the door.

“Ah! Nora. you are here to meet Alex?” the woman looked relieved to see Nora there, “come in! This foolish boy did not listen to us at all. Let him see how much you are hurt because of him. Scold him so that he would learn.” Nora nodded and walked in.

Alex’s mother left with Amaya giving one last sad glance to Alex.

“She is going to meet Alric. All this drama was just an excuse to go and see him.” Alex gritted his teeth. His hands clenched into a tight fist.

When he had woken up and realized he was in Alric’s hospital, he knew he was playing again.

“And here I thought you would thank me when you wake up. But I can see you are busy complaining.” Nora walked closer. She picked up an empty glass and filled it before passing it to Alex.

Alex noticed Nora did not pick up the glass Amyra had offered him with a raised brow. He took the glass this time and drank it all.

“I feel strange emptiness and irritation. No matter what I do, I can not get rid of it. I did not want to be cold to her, but I couldn’t help it.” His face was covered with sweat and his eyes looked lost.

Nora sighed looking at Alex. That night, he should have been ruined. No one should have found that he was drugged and when he would have woken up in that dark room, he would have been a drug addict that could not open his eyes without those drugs. But here he was.. Only frustrated!

“You have defeated your fate, Alex. This dizziness would go. But now you have a better future ahead.”
