“How much people like you need money!” When Nora did not react so far, Amayra became more unbridled. She did not hide her disdain for Nora.

But Nora’s expression did not change. As if a naive girl like her could not understand its meaning.

She slowly took the check from Amayra.

“Fifty thousand dollars.” her voice had a hint of shock. Amayra’s lips curled into a ridiculing smirk. She nodded arrogantly as she leaned further on the sofa, her lips folding on one another. It was much easier than she had thought.

“Of course, you deserve it. You have been injured badly because of us, we do not want to mistreat you or look miser. After all..”

“And you said that it was Mr Alric’s idea?” Amayra frowned and glared at the girl when she cut her in midway. But thinking that she would come to resent Alric too, Amayra nodded softly.

“Yes, he..” but Nora cut her again. She stood up swiftly and placed the cheque in her pocket. Then she leaned on the table and picked up the wad of cash too, surprising Amyra.

Amayra blinked only when the girl had placed the wad of her cash in her bag and packed a few more things over it as if she was trying to hide the money.

“You..” Amyra was in disbelief. She was only insulting Nora. She was sure that Nora was a proud girl and would not receive the money. Her ambitions were high. She wanted to seduce either Alric or Alex. How could she settle with some cash?

“Hmm? Do you have more money to offer me?” Nora turned to look at Amayra and blinked her eyes naively.

“….” the question left Amyra dumbfounded. Ten thousand cash and fifty thousand as cheques. Though this amount mattered nothing to Amayra, she still felt a beggar like Nora did not deserve this much. How could she offer her more?!

But she still felt humiliated! Though it was Nora who had accepted the money like a poor beggar. Why did it feel like Nora was graceful here and she was losing her composure?

“Ha! If you ever need more, you can contact me. As I said, I never mistreat others.” Amyra clutched her bag tightly and raised her head haughtily. She was not going to fail in front of a young girl.

“Alright, then I will call you whenever I need money.” Nora nodded her head then she zipped her bag and turned to leave, leaving Amayra as an invisible person.

“….” Amayra stood there like a fool as she watched Nora go. She wanted to stop her and insult Nora further, but she did not know how. No matter what she said, her actions felt like a stone in water. It did not bring the desired effect.

“Tch! If I knew that I was going to accept it all, I would have made a video of it.” she regretted not coming prepared for a greedy girl like her.

When she walked out, Nora was gone already. Gritting her teeth, she returned to the room but paused at the door when she met Alric’s cold eyes.

She felt like she was exposed already. But then she shook her head. There was no way that Nora would bitch about her after receiving so much money! Since Nora would be proven greedy too.

She forced a smile on her face and walked in.

“Where is aunt?” she asked softly, hiding her anxiety.

“I have never planned to reward Nora.” he cut her in and she closed her eyes. Hatred brimming into her chest. That wench!

“Then you should have!” Amayra whispered softly, “Nora needed money. When I offered her sixty thousand dollars, she smiled brightly and took all of it. I only took your name since I do not want to feel insulted by her.

After all, they did not know. But our family had already finalized our marriage, Alric.” she took a step closer and wrapped her arms around his.

Alric’s eyes were frosty and his face was full of venom but she ignored it. It was not the first time he was giving her a cold shoulder. But she could not accept it was because of Nora. After all, she had taken all the money greedily. At least, this should open his eyes. No?

“It looked like she would have taken more if I had offered it to her. She must be poor and needy.” she continued while she pressed her chest on his. But the man pulled her hands away from him and took a step back.

“You are not part of our family, Amayra. Not until we take the vows. But thank you, you have shown me a great way to pay my debts.” he walked toward the table and took out a check for her.

“Here!” he held her hand and placed the cheque in her hands, “this is for you. You have taken good care of my brother. This is a reward for your time and hard work.”

“……” Amyra was stunned to see the one million cheque in her hands. Never in her life had she been insulted this much! Her eyes narrowed and went cold instantly.

“What is the meaning of this, Alric? Do you think I am a beggar or what?” She threw the check on the ground and glared at him, “I will inform uncle about it.”

“Do not be so petty and snitch!” He mocked her, without a hint of regret for his actions. “Didn’t you say that we should not owe anyone and money is a good method to pay debts? I was only following your advice and paying my debts. If you are not satisfied with the amount, I can add more zeros to it. The amount should be enough to start a new company or buy good land.” he continued when she gritted her teeth harder. She felt like she would lose her sanity if she stayed here. She clutched her bag and stormed out the door throwing a warning to him,
