Chapter 195: Settle Her Bills!

When Nora returned to the hostel, everyone was stunned to see her.

They have all thought they would never meet her again. Miss Megan had challenged that she would be dismissed from the school too. But not only had she returned to her room, they could not see Miss Megan anywhere.

Later, a new woman named Laura Summers entered the hostel. it was announced that she was their new warden. She was the wife of Mr Summers, their physics teacher. She had been trying to get a job here for two years but there was no vacancy.

In the end, she brought a pack of chocolates for Nora to apologize. She smiled gently at Nora and patted her shoulders. It felt like everyone was flabbergasted.

A sense of fear starts to crawl in their chest. First two students and now their warden were fired because of Nora.

Those who had targeted Nora before did not leave their rooms for two days. Afraid that it would be their turn now. They only left their rooms when they realized she would not come for them. They did not even exist in her eyes.

They did not know whether to feel embarrassed to put themselves so highly or feel gratitude that Nora did not care about miniscule person like them.

But one thing was clear, no one dared to target her again in the hostel. She was like a living legend for them.

Those girls who had been targeted by Miss Megan came to thank her too.

“I can not believe it!” Emma chewed her apple as the girls left. “Now you are a hero for them?” she rolled her eyes. “I can not believe how they change their views and their behavior toward thm so easily. Hypocrites.”

Nora only shook her head gently and turned the page of her book.,

“Why does it matter? As long as they did not harm me, I was not going to hurt them anyway. So even if the whole situation is ridiculous, we should enjoy this rare peace.” a serene smile on her face.

Nora was sitting in front of the window. The sun rays were illuminating a part of her face, making her look ethereal. Emma stared at her and her mouth went dry. She was a girl yet she felt touched. How much effect could she have on those men!

“Did you say “we”!” Emma grinds, “are you finally taking me as your friend or you want to be adopted in my family.” Emma teased as she dramatically grinned and walked to Nora.

Nora rolled her eyes. If only it was that easy!

“Oh, how could I forget, you already have a family taking you in.” Emma acted like Victor as she walked to Nora and pulled her collar. “Hey babe! Wanna marry me?”

She ran a hand in her hair like Victor and wriggled her brows at Nora. Nora laughed amusedly.

But her heart was heavy for some reason. It had been two days since she had returned to the hostel. Everyone had come to meet her except Victor. She took out her phone and stared at his number.

Emma noticed the change in mood and frowned.

“I will go to the library. You do not have exams. But we all have. Teach me history later.” Emma left after Nora nodded.

The room went silent again. Nora took a deep breath and dialed the number. The phone rang for a long time but no one picked up the phone.

Nora stared at the phone in confusion. He had been around her all the time. What happened now? She called again but he only picked up after the third call.

“Hey! How are you?” Nora asked with a smile suppressing her uneasiness.

“Nora! I was studying for the exam tomorrow. Do you need something?”

“…” was it her illusion or the reply was cold.

“Umm..”

“Babe, I know that you miss me. But my father would call me back home if I did not get good marks. Can we talk after exams?” this time the voice was much more cheerful that Nora sighed.

“Yes, if you need any help, you can come to me.” she offered with a smile again.

“Got it!”

“Beep.. beep!” The call was cut just like that. Nora started the phone with a strange uneasiness. But in the end, she shook her head. She must be thinking too much due to all the schemes.

The phone rang again when she was staring at it and her face beamed.

“Did you forget something?” without looking at the dialler, she spoke in a cheerful voice.

“Many things!” but the reply stunned her. She knew this voice. It did not belong to Victor. “For starters, thank you again for saving Alex. I have called you to inform you, you do not need to work for Alex again. You are free from now on.” The voice sounded heavy and depressing. For a moment, she could imagine Alric sitting in his office with a dim light and gloomy face.

“How is Alex?”

“He is better. But he needs treatment. So I am sending him abroad. I will settle your bill soon. Though I heard that you are already paid handsomely.” her cheeks burnt as she thought about the money she had received.

“That would not count. It was the generosity of Miss Amayra. You still need to pay me for following your orders.” Nora regretted the moment she spoke. Her cheeks caught flame when the man chuckled on the other side.

“…” silence fell. But he did not cut the call and she wondered if he needed her for something else too. But as she kept waiting for him, the phone was cut after a long five minutes.

She stared at her phone in confusion.

“What was that!” it might be a mistake that he had left the call open and only realized it now. But she was sure she heard his heavy breaths all this time. For some reason, she felt that the man was.. Crying!
