Chapter 198: See It Now

“But you know what I want in exchange. Right?” Lucy’s hands clenched into a fist. She nodded stiffly and left Nora’s room. Lucy had entered with a smiling face, but it looked so upset when she left.

Kate, who was waiting for her to hide, was relieved. She came out from the hiding, surprising Lucy for a second.

“Did she insult you too?” it was hardly a question the way Kate looked at Lucy with pity. “You should have told me that you are going to confront her too. We would have gone together.” she wrapped her arms around stunned Lucy and started walking.

“You know Penny was still worried for her. She could not concentrate on the exam because she was thinking about Nora all the time. I only went to ask why she did not give the exam, but she scared me with a cold look and then slammed the door in my face. What did she do to you?” Lucy finally realized why Nora had asked about kate.

“She had called me to share her notes. I thought she was offering friendship. But then she started to insult Penny. I had no choice but to leave after scolding her. But I could not get the notes or it would have helped Penny and us.” Lucy sighed dramatically, making Kate sigh too.

Foolish girl! Was she like that in the past too! Nothing but Penny’s minion or the parrot!?

“Forget her! The result will be out in two days and then Penny will leave for inter province competition. Then the gap between Penny and Nora could not be covered. We will see how she behaves arrogantly then?” Lucy nodded. She did not want to leave gaps in her story.

They went to buy lunch together and returned to Penny. Penny was reading a french book loudly. Her pronunciation was better than a native french speaker. Lucy had to admit, Penny had skills to give Nora competition.

“Ah! You are here too.” Penny smiled sweetly at Lucy. “since your makeover, you have been so busy that i thought you do not need old friends.” Penny teased softly but her eyes were cold.

“Not at all. We are besties. I have only changed my look for that foolish Jamie.” Lucy looked aggrieved. “I wanted him to run behind me.”

“And you have achieved that. Congratulations!” The voice was so cold that even Kate paused to look at Penny. “But do you need to go to such lengths for a man? Lucy, I have told you many times. A man should look at your heart, not your face. He used to ignore you before and now.. Leave him.” It was an order with no discussion. Lucy sneered in her heart.

How blind was she to not offer that in her past! If it had been her past self, she would have cried in Penny’s embrace thinking she was the only caring one. Even Kate looked at Penny with reverence.

“Yes, but I love him too much. I am only punishing him. Tonight, I will accept his love for me and I am even thinking of taking a step further.” Lucy bowed her head and held her dress tightly. Her cheeks burnt red with rage.

But it looked like she was blushing and nervous. Her breath quickened making Penny’s eyes cold. Hatred and jealousy was evident. She had called Jamie twice despite being so busy with her studies. But he did not reply to her.

Now they wanted to take a step further. Lucy could only have her leftovers. Since she wanted Jamie. It would only be fair that she would have Jamie first and then leave him for Lucy. like she had always left her old and worn dresses for Lucy and Lucy only ate what she left on the table.

“Of course, if you still love him. How could I oppose your happiness.” how long had it been since the air in the room changed. But Penny’s words brought a look of relief on Kate and she hugged both of them, pulling closer.

Kate closed her eyes. In the past, she would have missed it. But now she noticed the hatred in Penny’s eyes. Her heart fell and a strange pain hit her stomach.

She wanted to mock herself. Even now she had hoped that Penny would be happy for her. That she would regret her actions.

“That is enough.” Penny was the first to pull away. “I still have to study a lot. What if I got selected? The inter state exams would only be harder. I need to be prepared.” She chided both of them lightly. “And you still have exams left. So let’s finish lunch and study together. Lucy, I need some help with economics.” she looked with such a loving gaze that Lucy wanted to vomit.

Penny was good in many subjects but she had been weak in economics while Lucy was good when it came to money and its rules. In the past, Lucy never noticed that Penny did not help her with anything but she always taught Penny by giving her heart and soul.

“Of course, I have my notes ready. I will come tonight and teach you?” Penny smiled instantly. Satisfied, she nodded and they had lunch together.

Kate and Lucy shared the recent gossip with Penny who laughed and chided them often. Lucy kept staring at Penny’s eyes. The look of queen in her eyes as if she was having a court and her slaves were serving her. Lucy noticed how Penny never took food by herself. Either her or Kate notice it and fill her plate again. They even serve her water. In the past, it felt intimate like they were real sisters.

Lucy lowered her head and ignored Penny’s empty plate. But Kate was observing. She served Penny properly.

‘Ha! At least you still have slaves even when I leave, Penny. But if you.. Would Kate still follow you after the video went viral? Even i want to see it now!”
