Chapter 206: A Gullible Child

“Attention students, the result of inter school competition has already been declared. The names of the top ten students can be found on the announcement bulletin board. I wish good luck to the winners.” the voice echoed in the whole school by the corridor speakers.

Various students from different schools had left already. The top ten students must be from all the schools. So the selection this time was very hard.

Not only the top ten students from the school went to check their names but others also went to cheer them out of curiosity.

There were only ten names written in the bold and large font. Even from a distance, you can read them easily. But every eye stopped on the first name on the last name on the board.

“Leonora Stone!” Nora! The Nora from their class. They checked her name, class and school name which was written in comparatively small letters thrice to confirm. It was her!

“But how! She had not given the exams.” Penny could not hold herself. Her whole body shook with rage. “I have seen teachers being partial toward her but the international level contents are not a joke. How could a person be in the top ten when they have not even participated.” her voice came through gritted teeth but she was not the only one.

Many were sullen because their name was not in the list. Only three girls were selected in the contest. Alisha, Nora and Penny taking the lead. But even she was only in sixth place. That showed that the other schools were much more prepared than them.

There were four boys in the topper list of their school. But not a single one was selected. Three girls were left too. They looked at Nora’s name gloomily. Even if they had represented the school on inter state level, it would have brought them enough fame. And who knew, they might have won further.

“That is enough. I need an explanation for this!” Aiden, a boy from section A gritted his teeth. He was in fourth place previously.

“Yes, they have taken an opportunity from us. I am not going to accept it.” another girl nodded and followed the boy but Penny blocked them.

“Umm, I do not think we should create trouble in the principal’s office. What if he became angry! And I am sure he had his reasons to let Nora be in the top ten. She is..”

“I do not care who she is or what benefits she was providing to the school! I need justice for myself.” he cut Penny with a glare. “Were you not shocked too? Why are you taking her side now?”

“Because she is my sister. I can complain but I can not harm her. My parents support her completely. So, she could take this chance.” Penny hesitated but her words only worked as oil in the fire.

“You meant your family bought a seat for her? Is that a movie theater where you can buy seats with money! Or a hotel where you booked a seat! Ridiculous. I am going to call my parents and see if the principal can save himself this time!” Aiden gritted his teeth and his face was so cold that everyone felt fear.

Penny lowered her head with anxiety and hid the sneer she had on her face.

“Oh dear, I need to call my mother.” she panicked and called her mother too. Soon, the chaos started.

Nora was standing in the distance and staring at the scene with a faint smile on her face. She turned and left as if the uproar had nothing to do with her.

Cars after cars stopped in front of the large door of the school. Six men and women joined the crowd gathered in front of the principal’s office.

The peon wiped the sweat off his face as he opened the door for them.

Principal Kai was sitting on his seat and noting something in his diary. His eyes flickered with surprise as he nodded at them and offered them a seat.

“Principal Kai, I have always respected you and praised you in my circle. Could it be that I am wrong?” started a man in a suit. He had a well defined face and his voice was full of elegance even when he was complaining. Bella from section C was standing behind him.

“Yes, the school had a respect to maintain, sir. How can you put it at stake just to support a girl?” a woman asked in an upfront way, looking at the man with disdain. “Even if you have personal favor or relationships. You must put the school and its welfare before making any decision.”

A few faces turned red as she spoke but they all stared at the principal waiting for an answer.

“Madam! You are crossing the line. I can sue you for your words and actions.” To their surprise, Principal Kai did not look intimidated. He only replied harshly in a cold tone but the women just snorted.

“Do you think I am afraid of that?” she snorted. “I would be the first one to sue you for your injustice and rash actions if I did not get a satisfactory reply today.” they all nodded this time, supporting her.

Principal Kai scanned the room. Six parents sitting domineeringly on the seats as if he owes them. Behind them, six students glaring, looking aggrieved and hurt.

“Mr Kai. We are not here to fight. We are here to solve the matter. As long as you take Leonora’s name out and give the position to the next student, we will leave. I understand misunderstandings happen, but we should correct them before the issue becomes inflated.” After giving him a stick, they were offering him a carrot as if he was a gullible child.

Principal Kai wanted to laugh and cry at the same time. He had wanted to announce the result himself and explain the situation to them. But Nora forced him to do so. That girl was too vicious and now he was trapped because of her.
