“You want us to believe that a student has found a cure for cancer! Do we all look like fools to you?”

“Mr Kai, even if you wanted to make a story, you should have made it more believable. Now you will say that she had a plan to launch the rocket to mars!”

They all looked baffled and frowned. Principal Kai sighed. He knew it was unbelievable. Even he was full of disbelief when he had heard about the condition and Nora had accepted it. Even now, he could not believe it.

“I never said she had found a cure! I said she had written a thesis about it.” he spoke softly, sighing. “I understand your doubts. But I have proof.” he explained only for Mr Palmer to laugh.

“Proofs! They can be made easily. These kinds of thesis were sold in Pennies. And looking at the attitude of her family, a person with an eye can see what happened!” He gave a meaningful look to Sophia Stone. Sohpia rolled her eyes but she knew better that she had not sent a single coin to Nora all this time.

They thought that she would return to starving.

“That is enough! Since the matter is cleared. Let’s leave.” She wanted to leave this place and confront Nora.

“Well, no matter what has happened. There is a clause stating that a person can skip giving an exam if he has a research paper. It has just never happened before so many do not know it. Nora had submitted the research paper directly at Onexford University and they had accepted it. If you want to question, go and question them.” he shrugged as he took out the papers.

The journalists had arrived by now. They were afraid that they would have to fight their way inside. But they never knew that school staff was so cooperative. The peon had personally opened the door for them and let them in.

They heard everything and before anyone could have a look at the papers, they punched on it and zoomed their cameras on it.

“The seal is authenticated.” a journalist confirmed as he took another picture of the papers. “The papers had been accepted by the university.”

“Not only that, it had the personal signature of scientist Matthews!”

Gasps filled the room. Who did not know of that scientist in the media. They all jumped on the papers as if a starving dog had seen a bone. Many of the parents did not know Matthews. But they could understand his importance by looking at the journalist’s reaction.

“It must be done by Alex!” Sophia gritted her teeth. Alex’s brother had a large chain of hospitals and he was working on many treatments. She had heard the news that they were researching better treatments for cancer.

Many heard her and nodded.

“Even if the papers were qualified, she had not written them. How could a student write them?” but Principal Kai just shrugged.

“This is not in my hands. And even if Nora qualifies this round, further rounds would only be more difficult. She would fail easily if she had cheated.” he explained but they did not care. Even if she failed in the next exam, she would reach the provincial center and earn a name for herself.

“How about this..” Principal kai could see that they would not let the matter go easily. “If she fails the next level of exam, will I personally investigate the matter and rusticate her from the school on the premise of cheating?” his eyes brimmed with confidence, shocking everyone.

Even if somehow she had written this research paper, it did not confirm that she could pass the next exam. There were high chances that all three of them would fail.

“Do you give your word on it?” They all looked at Principal Kai and then Sohpia. Waiting for her to reject and argue but she only snorted.

“Who do you think my niece is? My daughter and my niece would clear this exam even if they were sleeping. If not for her injuries, did we need to go this far?” her haughty voice made many of them infuriated.

“See! The brazen woman is even accepting that they have taken Spencer’s help!” Mr Palmer snorted but then he looked at the principal sharply.

“I hope you are man of your words. Or you would regret it. I am only giving this opportunity for your words.” Principal Kai wanted to laugh. The girl had won the position by her hard work. Yet, they wanted to show it as their charity.

“Yes, but if she won..” he paused looking at all of them, “I expect that you would not be shameless enough to force me to do despicable things and let me run school on my terms.”

“….” his voice silenced everyone. But Mr Palmer was the first to nod.

“Of course, if she passes, I will even give half of my company’s shares to you.” Nora would pass! What a joke! Even with such precious paper, she was still on the last rank in the list.

Looking at his confidence a few others nodded too. But who would have expected… Mr Kai took out the papers and placed them on the table beside Nora’s research paper.

“Good! So for the peace of both parties, let’s sign a contract.” Mr Palmer’s eyes twitched. They all felt like clowns.

“What is the meaning of this?” he frowned. From the start to the end, Mr Kai knew the result. He was just playing with all of them and made a joke out of them.

Now they could not refuse in front of the media.

“I thought that you would doubt me. And I am not good at trusting others easily too. So this contract would safeguard our interests. It states that if Nora failed, she would leave the school and if she passed, the board of directors and stakeholders would not interfere in my decision until the school suffered financial loss! Now sign please!” In front of their eyes, Mr Kai was the first to sign.
