Chapter 219: Nora! is Culprit?
“We have searched everywhere. We didn’t see her.” a student came running breathlessly and informed the teachers. Many others returned one after one but they all shook their heads. The teachers looked uneasy by now.
“Should we inform the local authorities?” asked the teacher with an ashen face. She was on the verge of crying.
“They would not do anything until twenty four hours. It had only been two hours by now. Let’s keep looking. Perhaps, she had gone to local market to buy souvenirs for her friends.” the teacher knew that it was a false hope. But she still nodded. A teacher with a few students had already gone to the market to look for Penny there.
When they saw Nora returning, they asked in an urgent tone. “Nora, did you find any trace?”
“Do you not think that her bed was awfully clean and tidy as if it was not used last night?” Before Nora could reply, Kane cut them with a frown.
The teachers frowned looking at him. “Even the brush and other toilieters of hers are still lying neatly in her bag. Nora where were you last night?” he took a step forward and confronted her in an icy tone.
Everyone turned to look at Nora confused.
“Kane! Behave!” but Kane ignored the yelling of the teachers. He stared coldly at Nora.
“You took her somewhere last night, have you not?” The question stunned everyone. Their hearts palpitated. “Others did not know but I do. You both are cousins with a deep rift between them. Last night, you had an argument with her and you..” the boy did not continue but everyone’s mind was wandering.
Could it be that they had an argument because of the soup?
“I was in the room the whole night, sleeping. I do not know what you are talking about.” she replied coldly as she faced him. Her eyes did not flinch but he only sneered frostily.
“Is that so? But your roommate did not find either of you in the morning.” Nora’s eyes flickered and she turned to look at Alisha.
Alisha bowed her head wiping the tears off her eyes.
“But that did not mean..”
“I have the footage too.” he cut her before she could make another excuse. “It shows that you both left together. Now do you want to claim that it is also a lie? ” The teachers narrowed their eyes while the students gasped.
They all looked at Nora horrified. Kane slowly took out his phone and played a clip.
It showed that Nora had left the room in the middle of the night. And just as she crossed the corridor, Penny had followed. She was wiping her tears and looking stressed as she followed Nora. It was so close.
“She had followed me to curse me but she had turned and left.” Nora clenched her teeth. She had seen Penny following her. But when she had turned and confronted, Penny had said that she was only following her to know her secrets.
And then she ran back.
“There is nothing like that in the recording.”
“What about the door recording?” That was where Penny had turned. Nora wanted to speak about it from the start, but her mind was racing. She was sure that if she would mention it, no one would trust her. Penny had planned it.
But in her last life, Penny had never planned her disappearance! She had only played tricks that did not harm her life. What has changed?
“Ha! Everyone had seen that the cameras at the main entrance were broken last night. Are you intentionally mentioning that one to leave a loophole in the story to save yourself.” his mocking voice was full of venom.
The teachers wanted to scold him again but they were uneasy. They stared at Nora in confusion. Why did she not tell them before? They could have.. But what could they have done?
There was nothing to prove that Nora was guilty or not guilty!
“I understand that you are worried about her. But tell me, what do i have to force her to follow me with tears in her eyes. More than that? What reason do we have to argue? She has nothing I want and I have nothing she wants.” she explained softly. Her voice was clear and her eyes were bright.
Should a girl not feel guilty if she had harmed another? Kane frowned. He was sure that Nora would break if he confronted her with proof. But his face only went colder.
“Then you want to say that she had randomly cried and decided to leave her room just when you have. Do you think everyone is a fool Nora? You vye for her position in her family. Being an orphan, you should be grateful that her family let you live with them. But you are too greedy and want more.” that made everyone look at Nora in a new light.
Being good in studies is important but it is more important to have a good character. Looking at doubts in their eyes, Nora did not lose her composure. Neither she accused them or gave any defenses.

“I understand your point.” she nodded softly. “Anyone would feel that I have something to do with her disappearance after watching the video. But tell me, why would I do it now except any other time? I have a flight to board tomorrow. If I am suspected of a crime, I would lose a one in a million chance of success in my life. As you said, I do not have properties on my name. Would I have not waited for the competition to end no matter how much I hated her?”
“…” they all stared at each other. No one could find fault with her reasoning. If Nora wanted to harm her own sister, she would have gotten many chances in the past, and could create more in the future. Why would she harm her with so many witnesses to watch her and ruin her chance to succeed? Even Kane looked unsure.
