Chapter 224: The Video Clip

“Suddenly the air felt more refreshing. No?” Nora looked away to hide her smile. At least, he was not angry! The way Alric was leaning on the railings and looking at the garden, it almost felt like he was talking about their fragrance.

“Thank you.” Nora bowed her head slightly. “And I apologize for my rude behavior.” Alric waited, but she did not explain further. He finally turned to look at her.

His sharp and cold eyes looked gloomy for some reason.

“You did not take my help. So, I do not deserve your thankfulness. And I am nothing to interfere in your matters, so you do not need to apologize to me. As you said, we had a deal in the past, it ended when Alex left for the states. And it was better that we do not cross paths in the future.” Nora pursed her lips.

That was the truth, but the way he said it felt like sarcasm.

“I do not like owning others.” she finally admitted, “it made me feel indebted and i do not know how i have to pay that debt. So I do not want to take it in the first place.” finally Alric’s lips curled into a smile.

“I was not indebted to you. I was paying my debt.” Nora’s eyes narrowed.

“I have helped Alex because he saved me many times in the past. It was not because of your instructions. He is a rare friend. Even though.. I have lied to him and he might not forgive me, he is a friend to me.” For some reason, he finally felt emotions in this cold and indifferent girl. Guilt and regret! Her deal with him must have felt like that.

“You have saved him because of that deal, so do not feel bad about it. And forget what happened. You should study now. If you want, I can help you with a few good questions. I have made detailed notes for my participation last time.” he regretted offering the moment he saw uneasiness in her eyes.

What had happened to her that she was so guarded?

“I have my notes. I would not be able to finish them anyways. Then, excuse me.” Just like that, she left.

“Had she not taken favors from Max all this time?” he murmured to himself and then shook his head.

Nora ran to her room and closed the doors. Since the trekking and picnic had been cancelled and the students had already left to the central university to know their results, she had decided to stay behind and study.

“I need a good laptop!” She sighed as she opened the browser in her phone and read the notes but messages kept flashing on her screen.

“Congratulations!”

“I know that you will make it.”

“Congratulations Nora, I hope you will forget the small quibbles between us.”

The messages kept pouring in but she did not even pay attention to their names when the phone started ringing.

“Nora..” a breathless sound came from the other side.

“Victor! Are you alright?” she frowned when he heaved as if he was running a marathon.

“I was worried for you.” Nora’s eyes widened a bit and then her expressions softened.

“I made it, you do not need to worry about me.” Victor let go of the breath he was holding and Nora held the phone tightly.

“I always knew that you would make it. I was worried because Penny had participated too. Did she bully you there?” Could it be called a bully?

When Nora remembered the ashen face of Penny during their last conversation, a strange satisfaction filled her. She was the villain now, but she had no regrets.

“I am fine.”

“Oh Nora, you have no idea. Someone had released a clip where Penny was with Jamie. Lucy had slapped Jamie in the public. Who did not know that Lucy was dating Jamie for years now. It is all a mess. I am sure she would have lost her mind when she heard about it. But I am relieved that she did not lash out at you.” Victor sighed. “I wanted to call earlier. But I was so worried. Principal Kai had warned all the students to not call any participants until the result day. But I am sure a few had tipped Penny.” he sounded so worried that it made her smile.

She giggled, surprising Victor.

“No, I am sure she had a good rest before leaving. Her friends must have been considerate.” her voice was teasing, it made him raise a brow. But then he shook his head. There was no way Nora could stop her friends. That Kate looked so desperate.

“Forget it, as long as she has not targeted you. Nora, I missed you so much. I want to come there and hug you.” his voice went sensuous and she smiled and leaned on the sofa.

“I am sure you will not be satisfied with only a hug.” her laughters made him shiver. He closed his eyes and her laughing face flashed. His desire for her increased.

“Nora.. I love you.” he whispered softly. “I could never have enough of you.”

Nora went silent on the other side.

“We will meet soon and then I will be able to stand beside you.” his eyes dimmed. Though he knew that she would not confess to him. Yet, the pain always hit him like an old injury relapsed.

“Mm, now work hard. I will wait for you.” he kissed the phone softly and she smiled. It was only thirty seconds later, did she cut the call.

Her face looked much softer.

“Oh Victor, I have made sure that my sister will be able to concentrate on her exams.”

“Why are you looking at me like that Alisha? I have already told you I only went to rest.” Penny gritted her teeth. “Mr Summer had already been unreasonable. He had dragged us to see the result with our luggage. As if he was cursing us to not get selected. And now look, our names are not in the list.” Despite how much Penny was shouting with a face full of malice, Alisha could not concentrate on her words.

Her whole attention was on the video clip playing on her mobile phone.

“Penny, you need to see this!”
