Chapter 228: Snatching Her Friend’s Boyfriend!

“But you have taken her name just now. This is enough for us to send you to jail, Jamie Kerpin. But I do not want to malign the name of the school. Since you have accepted your mistake, this matter would be handled right here.” the principal announced and then eyed every single person in the class.

Many could not bear the pressure of his intimidating look. They lowered their heads or looked away.

“For the safety and image of the school, I demand all of you to delete that video. You are still not an adult and do not have the right to keep such videos.” he added the last line in a soft tone. He used the carrot and stick way to convince them that they have no other choice.

“We.. we do not have that video.” a few claimed but the principal only smiled at them as if they were just kids. They felt embarrassed but they stuck to their reply.

“Let me have a look then, if there is no video, you are a good person and would be awarded with five bonus marks in the next test. But if you were found lying, you would face detection for a whole month.” a month! They gulped. But they have made a second space in their phone and hid the video well. The principal would not be able to find it.

The boy nodded with confidence as he passed his phone. But principal Kai didn’t take it. It was the man in casual clothes standing behind him, taking it. The boy looked around and sighed.

“The password is..” but the man did not wait. He did not need the password. He typed words with the speed of lightning and opened the phone.

The boy gasped. He had an uneasy feeling in his heart. He stared at the man with uneasiness and extended his hand to snatch the phone back. But before he could, a strange voice came from his phone.

The video was already playing. The principal looked at him with a cold condescending smile. He did not dare to meet that face, he lowered his head and cursed himself in his heart.

The voices stopped. He finally looked up to see the man was already returning his phone to him.

The boy took the phone with trembling hands.

“This..” he struggled for words.

“There is no need to explain since we have already decided the results. Miss Carla, make sure that he would be present in his month-long detention, if not, rusticate him.”

Others gulped, the words were cold and intimidating. There was no space for discussion and they could not even ask for help from their parents because they were at fault.

The student could only nod and sit back. The students behind him who have claimed that they did not have videos were already deleting it. When their turn came, the video had ceased to exist on their phone.

The man still checked their phones. He stared at them and smiled before clearing their bin and looking at them. They felt their heart lurching out of their chest.

The room had become tense. One by one every phone was checked. But most of the students had deleted the video before their turn. A few had made a copy and sent it to their own emails but the man checking their phone was smart. No matter how they saved a copy for themselves, he would play that copy before deleting it.

The obscene sounds had filled the room more than thirty times before the silence finally followed. They all looked at their phone as if they were holding an explosive bomb.

It could explode any moment. The video was gone from their emails, their social media account, their thumbnails and bookmarks. As if it never existed in the first place. The bold ones searched for its copy after their phone was returned to them but they found nothing.

A strange fear started to crawl in their heart when they met the eyes of the man. He looked at them as if he knew what they were doing.

“Are we done here?” the principal asked the man in a low and cold voice.

He eyed the students of this class.

“Yes, the next class..” students sucked in breaths. It felt like the air had ceased to exist in the room and it had only returned now. They hungrily took faster and shallow breaths now that the tense atmosphere disappeared.

Jamie had followed them at some point. The whole class burst into an uproar. The teacher shouted and scolded but her voice was drowned in their noise.

“Would you believe that? I think it is a penny but they are lying!”

“Who knows! Penny is way out of Jamie’s league. Why would she serve him when many better boys would do anything to even hold her hand. Not to forget Jamie had done nothing for Penny so far.”

“Yes, he is even dating his best friend. Right Lucy?”

“Lucy! Tell them it was Penny. After all, you recognize her better than others.” Lucy had been silent about this matter from the start.

Except slapping Jamie in front of everyone and breaking up with him, she had said nothing about this matter. They all were so immersed in taking pleasure from the video that they did not care about it before. But now.. They all looked at her with anticipation.

Lucy was holding the notebook so tightly that its paper started to tear apart from the pressure. Her eyes were full of hurt and hatred.

“Lucy! Penny can not betray you.” Kate struggled for words. She not only recognized Penny but the dress too. Penny had worn her that night. She remembered her vividly, even the hairstyle matched. Was Jamie so particular about Penny that he had asked the duplicate to wear the same dress, hair style and makeup or… she shuddered thinking about the possibility.

“I do not know who the girl in the video is. It is enough that Jamie had cheated on me to dump him.”
