Chapter 245: Given Laxatives

Doctors were called soon. A few teachers left the room with an excuse to investigate the matter while a few left with the intention of preparing for today’s exam.

Director Reid stayed with no choice. He had come from the management team of their country. Nora was his responsibility. He watched as Nora and Alric went to the washroom one by one. Their faces were pale when the doctor arrived.

“They were given laxatives.” he informed, as he wrote some medicines on the paper with a slight frown.

He checked the patients again. Director Reid felt like he was going to collapse. How long had it been since their country had won? Nora was their last hope. But if she was so sick that she could not stand, how was she going to give the exam?

“Is there a way of her fast recovery? She needed to give an exam in an hour!” He already regretted wasting their morning. She wanted to revise with Alric! But now. His eyes filled with desperation as he looked at the doctor.

“Give them medicine. She would start feeling better after a while. But one hour! I am not even sure if you can bring medicine in such a short time and forget about recovery.” the doctor frowned as he added stronger medicines. But there was no miracle in the world.

Medicine needed time to work. Alric stared at Nora. she had closed her eyes and taken steady breaths. Director Reid looked like he was going to have a heart attack. But there was no worry on her face. That calmness, it was so.. Peaceful. As if nothing would worry her in this world.

Nora felt his gaze. For she turned to look at him. He had forgotten, her reflexes were sharp like a trained soldier too. The more he knew about the girl, the more mysterious she felt. As if he was looking at her through a veil of darkness.

“I will return soon with medicines.” Director Reid personally went to bring them. He could not trust anyone. Someone had plotted against them. What if the person delays the medicine too.” Please, rest and try to attend the exam. Even if it does not go well, the overall result could change your destiny. But if you miss it..” Director Reid was worried. Nora was just a young girl. She was sick to the limit that she had hardly opened her eyes all this time. What if she was sleepy!

“Who is missing it? And why would my result be bad?” with a slight frown, she looked at Director Reid in confusion.

“…..” or he was thinking way too much. He nodded and did not waste time in chitchat. He would bring the medicine as fast as he could.

“Hahahah!” Nora frowned when Alric laughed looking at leaving Director Reid. “Poor man was worried for you, you know!”

“No! He was worried about the prize I can win for his country.” his! She did not call it ours. “I am just a means to his end.” her eyes were so cold as if she had never received any warmth from the world.

“Not everyone sees you like that!” he blurted before he could stop and her eyes flickered.

“I have helped you enough, Mr Spencer. I need to wash myself and get ready now.” She looked at him and then at the door. Alric smiled wryly.

Has anyone ever asked him to leave before? No! This girl! She did not care about his position, the power he held and the wealth he had even though he needed all these things desperately. If she would convince him, he could ruin her uncle and aunt at once. But..

“Thank you for last night. And I apologize that you have to drink laxatives to save us.” without any fancy words, he stood up and left.

His eyes went cold the moment he left her room. He did not return to his room directly. He asked for the meeting room in the hotel and booked it.

“Are you sure about it, Mr Spencer? Should I confirm with your father first?” the manager felt uneasy. His voice was low and slow as if he was trying to buy time.

“There is no need. My father did not run those hospitals. They ate under my name and I am the biggest shareholder there.” he warned yet the manager did not feel any better.

“Then how about I call for a shareholder meeting and let everyone vote.” his voice was desperate now but Alric only laughed.

“To suggest whether you should be kept or not? Sure, go on! But before leaving the company, complete the last task I have given you.” the manager flinched and nodded at once.

“Alright, I will prepare the papers to revoke the contract. But what reason should I give? The Aspire healing had been in partnership with us from the start. And they have never broken any point of the contract. And to find another company to tie up with us this fast..” the manager felt he was going to have a cardiac arrest as his pulse fastened just thinking about it.

“You need proof! Fine, I will send them.” Alric sent a few files to the man. “This would be enough! And for now, we have enough stocks to run for two weeks. Find all the choices at this time and ask them for advanced samples. This would give you one more week’s supplies and time to decide.” the manager sighed! Alric had thought about every point. It only meant that the decision was set in stone.

He could only nod and accept his fate at this point.

“Your..” Alric cut the call before the manager could complain again. There was no warmth on his face.

When the manager thought he was drowning already, the call was connected again.

“Sir..” hope rose in the manager’s eyes.

“Give another order to Mojo Ltd. ask them to supply every product they make to our hotel and sign a long term contract with them. But make conditions favorable for both parties and add strict quality points.”
