Chapter 248: Changed In A Whim!

“Are you sure about it? If you need more rest, I can request them to delay the competition by thirty minutes more.” Director Reid looked at Nora with anxiety. He was holding a heart calming pills box in his hands.

If she failed, he might get a heart attack.

“Ah! Is that so? But I do not need it.” Nora was sure it was impossible to delay the exam. A lot of crowd had already gathered around the hall.

The students had taken their place and the invigilators were checking last minute details.

“But..”

“I will ace the exam. Do not worry.” she repeated in a softer voice this time. Only then did the man nod and let her go.

When Nora took her place, everyone turned to look at her. Rumors had been spreading that a man was found in her room. Not only that, her food was spiked and someone poisoned her.

Her pale face confirmed the second rumor at least. When she leaned on her chair, many hearts started beating faster.

If she was weak, perhaps they have a chance in today’s exam! Their hands clenched into a fist under their table and their eyes glowed with anticipation.

“Today, the exam is not similar for students but each student would be given a separate sheet of exam to make sure there will be no cheating. There would not be oral questions since each set is the most difficult one ever existed.

One can check the other’s exam paper if they want after the result is out. Best of luck everyone.” the teacher announced in a strict but kind voice.

“Damn! Who would believe that she was so lucky!”

“Or! It could be cheating to accommodate her.” soft whispers started to fill the students. Writing exams slowly was possible but strong presence of mind and quick reflex were difficult for Nora. they believed that she would be at a disadvantage today. But who would have thought…

Many glared at her while a few kept silent and concentrated on their own exam.

The exam papers were distributed. Nora stared at the exam paper with narrowed eyes. Ha! Cheating to accommodate her! What a joke!

It was designed to make sure that she would fail.

Norra laughed mockingly. She raised her head and scanned the room. A group of teachers were sitting as spectators in the distance. Her eyes met a special one.

Jennifer flinched when she noticed the look in Nora’s eyes. As if the young girl knew what had transpired. No! That was impossible.

Jennifer smirked at the girl as if she was challenging her. But the look of pity in Nora’s eyes made her blood boil.

“Nora!” she gritted her teeth. But Nora had already looked away. She has started writing. Her fingers were gliding over the answer sheet so smooth as if she did not need to take a pause to think.

A few students were stunned to see her movements. Those who paused to think were in a daze as they looked at her. Can someone look so elegant while facing the toughest exam of their life? They were sweating like a cooked turkey!

Or.. could it be that she had gotten easy questions? Was it to accommodate her again?

Their eyes narrowed again. But Nora did not move to look at them. She kept writing with a smooth flow. Her speed neither increased or decreased from the start to the end.

When three hours finished, everyone was reluctant to submit their papers, but Nora gave it easily. She had stopped writing half an hour ago. When they consoled themselves thinking she was finally struck, they realized that she was only resting because she had already finished it.

Director Reid took three pills from the bottle and ate them. He was stunned too. If she could perform this well when she was sick, what was her actual potential? If a girl like her could join their research team.. His heart beat faster due to completely different reasons now.

Nora stood up and smirked at other students. “Oh! Today’s exam was too easy. I am relieved. I was worried that I could not make it. Phew” many faces went ugly. A few of them were stunned and confused while others were burning with rage.

“How could they do it! It is an international exam. Can its pattern be changed on a whim?”

“Yes, I will complain about it. My country would not accept this racism.”

“Ha! They have sold their ethics.” Nora looked at all of them with guilt in her eyes and bowed her head as she left with a hurried step.

Her every expression and action showed that she was guilty! But after coming out, her expression changed into a cold smirk.

She noticed director Reid walking toward her hastily.

“Oh Nora! Your exam went well, right?” he was not even waiting for her reply, “you know i have called the central university. They have offered you a full scholarship exam. As long as you clear this competition, you do not need to give the entrance exam separately. It will be best for you.” The excitement in his voice made Nora flinch. She could choose a different life if she chose this university. But would her uncle let her be?

“I will. Thank you. But I am still feeling ill. I want to rest.” Nora nodded at Director Reid but left holding her abdomen. She was surprised when she did not find Amyra in the crowd. Even Jennifer had left earlier.

Shaking her head, she returned to her room and slept. How much time had passed when she woke up. It was already dark outside and she had missed her meals.

She rubbed her eyes and took a warm bath. She had only taken minimal laxatives that made her look sick but she had exhausted herself completely.

“I am hungry!” she sighed as she went to the restaurant attached to the hotel. Since it was near midnight, it was almost empty with minimal staff. But who would have thought the one person she was missing earlier would be here!
