Chapter 250: Hit The Jackpot

“That wretched girl!” David spat those words glaring at the phone and then laughed loudly. Yet her eyes brimming with hatred. “Stop giving her monthly expenditure. When the money in her pocket would end, she would return to us.”

Sophia shifted to her seat. Her small actions did not go unnoticed by David.

“Sophia..” he warned.

Sophia bit her lips. “Honey, she was so rude and insulting. I wanted to discipline her so I did not offer her money when she chose to stay in the dorms. I wanted to pay her, trust me. I only wanted her to beg me for it. But she never came to ask for money and then.. It had been months that I completely forgot about it. I.. i didn’t do it intentionally.” David was stunned but then his eyes flicker cold.

It had been around four months since Nora had left their house. If she had still not asked for money.

“Someone is supporting her. Could it be Spencer? But why would he?” then it dawned on him. Ainstons and Spencer wanted to tie the knot between their kids. Now that Ainston’s are targeting Nora!

His eyes gleamed with joy!

“Darling! Nora had hit the jackpot.” Sophpia frowned. That wretched girl?! Except for her looks, what did she have? How could she win over Spencer? They were nothing in comparison to their family. “Be kind to her when she returns. We have to secure a good position through her.” he moved closer and grasped her hands.

He squeezed them lovingly when she did not reply.

“Sophia, that girl is a golden goose, you remember the story right. You can not harm her or we will lose golden eggs. This time, she is going to give us more.” he repeated with more emphasis. Nora took a deep breath and nodded.

“Yes, I understand. But she did not listen to us anymore. If you insist, I will go and request her to return home. But what if she refused?” David frowned. In his impression, Nora was a submissive kid who had always longed for love and care.

Why would she not return to their house?

“Just bring a few gifts and take her out for dinner. Sophpia, if you convince her, I will buy a new property for Penny at Grueland street. You wanted a business in her name too. Right?” Sophia’s eyes gleamed with joy.

“Alright, leave this on me. I will bring her back.” even if i have to drag her all the way here.

When Nora returned to her room, the door was already open. She frowned as she held the key in her hands. She entered cautiously, holding her identity broch in her hands, as if its small pin was a weapon, she opened the door further.

Everything in the room was torn and broken, the room was ruined completely. The vases were broken, the sheet was torn, the pillows were pulled apart. Nora stared at the room coldly with an indifferent gaze when the doorbell rang.

Her eyes sharpened instantly and she picked up a shard of glass.

“Room service, Madam.” her brow rose. She had not called for one. When the door opened, the man nodded at her. He did not look surprised about the condition of the room.

With nimble hands, he started to pick up everything and cleaned the room. Nora stood there and stared at him as the room was cleaned completely. New bedsheets were placed, pillows were changed, vases were taken away.

“Mam, do you have any other instructions?” He bowed his head slightly in front of her, making her laugh.

“Who sent you?” The question felt strange as she already knew who had done it. The cleaner had expected this question. He took out a letter from his pocket and passed it to her.

He did not wait for her to open the door as he left the room.

“Next time it will not be just room if you dared to provoke me!” there was no name, nothing. But looking at the overbearing words after tonight’s accident, Nora knew who she was!

She sighed and threw the letter in the bin.

“At least, she is sensible enough to clean it too.” Nora shrugged and took out her books. It was her last exam. She had to give it all of her.

Nora missed having dinner with everyone and read all evening when her phone’s screen lit.

“Nora, you seem upset after our last conversation. I have sent some gifts, hope you will forgive this uncle of yours. Do not worry, I will handle Ainston’s. You just work hard and make us proud.” as she read the message, another notification blinked on her screen.

Five thousand dollars were sent to her as a gift by her uncle David. Her eyes narrowed. She had expected another threat or curses. She would not have been surprised if they had barged in and forced her to leave the competition midway. But giving her money.. That was not like them at all!

She bit her lips and thought about it for a long time before shrugging her shoulders and dialling a number.

“Hello, i am sending you a good amount for the working capital. I want you to increase the production as much as you can. In a week, tell me about the details of the total production and previous stocks we have left.” a vicious grin appeared on her face as she added all the money Amyra had gifted her so far with this reward and sent it to her company.

After calculating everything, she changed her clothes and went to the washroom. She would sleep early and rest so that she could perform better tomorrow.

But as she sat down, shen noticed a small spot on her underwear. She was feeling pain but she had ignored it as she did not have time to think about it. Now Nora sighed.

“Is it that time already!” Nora covered her abdomen with her hands as she checked the dates in her calendar. After everything in her room was ruined, she had no pads left.
