Chapter 267: Visit Their Grave!

“It is nice meeting you, young lady. Congratulations on winning a gold medal.” Tristan congratulated the girl with a large smile as he shook her head. David pressed her wrist lightly before letting her go.

He was not afraid that Nora would create a scene. No matter how many issues Nora had with his wife and daughter, he had never harmed her. And he knew she was still intimidated by him. After all, they have hardly communicated directly. He had never harmed her in any way. But she knew that he was cold and domineering.

He had made sure that he would never ruin his image in her presence.

Nora nodded slightly toward the others too. A few parents had come to receive their kids. They all have heard about Nora from their son or daughters.

Looking at her humble smile and good manners they all have a good impression about her.

“Kane!” Tristan smiled at his son. “You were right about her.” she would be much better for their family.

Tristan nodded in approval. Kane shifted his weight, he wanted to be anywhere but here.

“Dad, I am exhausted. Can we leave for now?” he pushed his father’s arm, making him frown. Tristan warned his son from his looks but David laughed.

“It is normal to be exhausted after a long journey. Nora is exhausted too. We should go and let our kids rest first.” his hands reached for her shoulder and she nodded.

She felt someone’s eyes on her and turned to see Alric looking at her with a sharp and cold look. As if he was waiting for her signal. She looked away, making him frown.

David smiled at others but did not waste time in small chats. As if the time when Nora was saved by Max and taken away from their house was just a dream.

She was only living in the dorms for experience like his daughter and now it was time for them to return home.

As soon as they sat inside the car, the smile on his face disappeared.

“Nora, you have more experience than Penny and you are a smart girl. Since I have come to receive you personally, I hope you will forget about past grievances. I have scolded Sophia and Penny enough too. In the end, we are a family. We need to live like one.” his tone showed he would not take no for an answer.

Nora bowed her head and did not reply. But she did not struggle or argue too. He knew how Sophia had drawn the girl to the corner. Since she did not complain, it already showed her submission. He did not force her to reply.

But he took out a box of chocolates from the car.

“This is for you. Do you remember it?” Nora touched the box. It looked like it had come out of her memories. She nodded softly, her eyes burning suddenly.

“I have asked my aunt to bring them once for my birthday. She had told me that the shop had closed down and I could never enjoy it again?” David stiffened. His face turned ugly.

He looked like he wanted to curse badly.

“Is that so? She must have been confused after all, she had never visited the shop personally. I have gone there sometimes with my brother. You loved these chocolates when you were young. So I have brought them sometimes. You were too young to remember it.” Nora smiled at her uncle.

She was once too young and too foolish. If he had said such words in the past, she would have believed in him. But now, she knew that this man had killed her with her husband.

If not for his hatred, Sophia would have never targeted her. Nora would have never hated her. Perhaps, they would have grown up like loving sisters.

“Go on, try some. It took me a lot of trouble to arrange them.” a dark look flickered in her eyes. He had faced troubles? For what? In poisoning them or mixing laxatives in them or had he planned something else?

“Nora!” she felt his hand on her shoulders and her hands moved instinctively. If not for her fast reflex, she would have punched him and broke his nose.

The scene already moved in front of her eyes in slow motion but when she blinked, her hand was still holding the box of chocolates. It was only in her thoughts had she punched her uncle.

“Nora! Let’s make a new start when we go home. Do not start a fight with your aunt. She had sacrificed so much in taking care of you. She is just upset that you do not respect her enough. And a penny? She is your younger sister just like I was close to your father, she is closer to you. As long as you apologize, I am sure everything will be alright.” Nora sneered. This time she did not even try to hide her disdain for his words.

The man cleared his throat.

“It is alright, if you do not want to apologize. After all, we are family.” he patted her back and took his hands away. Though he stopped speaking, he was looking at her intently while urging her to try those chocolates.

He could notice the welter of emotions crossing through her face as she stared at the chocolates.

“I can not.” Nora closed the box, making him frown. “It reminds me of my father. Just looking at it made my heart heavy, I could not eat it.” the man paused. He could not force her if she put it like that.

But he had really taken a lot of trouble in getting these chocolates.

“Alright, since you do not want it, what else will you like? As your uncle I want to give you something memorable for your success.” His voice was still full of warmth and love. Nora looked at him with a dazed look but in her heart she sneered. Is he pretending to have Alzheimer’s now?

“Then I want to visit my parents’ grave!”
