Chapter 268: A Secured Life

“That is it?” David frowned, “then how about i buy you some jewels. You are a growing up girl now. You should have some accessories. I will ask Penny to take you to the Phoenix Mall. There are many good brands in the showroom.” listening to his pampering voice, Nora felt nauseated. But she did not understand why he was putting so much effort?

There was no one here to see his acting! Soon they parked their car in front of the large villa.

Four maids stood at the door to welcome Nora. They were smiling at her as if she was their new mistress.

“Welcome, young miss. It had been a long time. Shall I make your favorite soup?”

“It is already winter. I will make some good chicken soup for you.” the woman offered with a sweet smile that made Nora blink.

She nodded softly as she entered the house. Penny was sitting on the sofa in the hall. Her eyes were full of hatred as she stared at Nora. if looks could kill, Nora would have died already.

Sohpia walked out of her room hearing the commotion. Her sharp eyes were full of hatred, but she nodded at Nora when she walked in.

“Bring her luggage in her room. And make sure she did not face any difficulty in settling down!” Nora noticed how Penny’s grip on the book tightened. It looked like she wanted to tear the book apart.

“New room?” David walked closer and patted her shoulders.

“Yes, the old room was not well maintained. Since you are growing up, you need a better room. Go on and explore it. Sophia had personally designed it. But if you still need some changes, you can inform any of us.” there was something they needed. It was not about their faces anymore.

Nora was sure there was something amiss with the whole scene. How her aunt forced a smile on her face and nodded.

Nora walked upstairs and was stunned to see that she was given the room beside Penny. It was larger than Penny’s room. It had fairy -like pink walls, a pink bed, a pink closet and even had a good line of soft toys near the wall. There was a large study table equipped with the latest design of laptop and other gadgets and whatnot. There was a bathroom, a changing room and an attached balcony in the room.

Surprised, she walked to the closet and opened it. It had the latest design clothes and other accessories. If the maid were still not waiting for her response, she would have misunderstood that she had unintentionally entered Penny’s room.

“Madam had been preparing the room for a long time. She had missed you a lot, young miss. She is just upset by your behavior. That is why she could not show her love.” the maid sighed when Nora didn’t react. Her voice was full of pleading and urgency.

“I am sure, as long as you apologize to madam, she will forgive you. Young miss, master and madam had done so much for you. You should be grateful, my relatives don’t even care about my existence, you know. I am not sure if they would care for my daughter if something happened to me and my husband.” the maid sighed softly as if she could fail the pain of Sophia. Nora was too heartless to ignore such a woman.

If it would have been her past self, she would have wallowed in guilt. But now that she knew that her uncle and aunt had taken over her parents property and made her feel a burden instead, all she felt was the desire to kill. It was so strong sometimes that she believes only their blood in her hands could calm her.

“Of course, I should go and thank my aunt first.” Nora nodded, finally relieving the maids.

But even after saying that, Nora did not leave the room. She walked to the bed and lay down.

“Umm, young miss.” The maid was not sure what to do.

“Oh! I am just dizzy. I will be there in ten minutes. You can leave first.” The maid was unsure but knowing that Nora had returned after a long trip, she could only nod and live.

When she returned to the hallways, she saw Sophia talking to David in the corner. When Sophia noticed her, she paused.

“Where is she?” the maid flinched by the coldness in the voice.

“Young Miss fell asleep. She said she is dizzy!” David held Sophia by her waist. Her narrowed eyes were full of killing intent.

“Let her be. She might be exhausted.” when Sophia glared at him, he sighed.

“Tristan and Kane were full of praise for Nora. Sophia, this is not the time to care about her but Penny. Are you sure you want Penny to meet Kane? She did not seem that interested.” David knew Sohpia’s weakness.

Just the mention of her daughter’s future and she completely forgot about Nora.

“Because she is infatuated with your partner David. I have chosen Mr Benard for Nora. There is no way that I will let him seduce my daughter. Penny deserves someone much better. She would realize the difference when she would spend time with Kane. Have you invited them?” David sighed and rubbed his temples.

It was the reply she wanted, yet he was sure she would not be too happy about it.

“Yes, I have invited them for a celebratory dinner for Nora.” her eyes narrowed at once with hatred but he rubbed her arms lovingly, “it is just an excuse to sign the deal too. And show them Nora might be good in study but she had no idea how our society works. I have booked the french hotel you love!” he grinned at her only then did her anger subsided. She smiled at him and he hugged her.

“Darling, you and Penny are my family. I will do everything to give you a secured life.”
