“Thank you for your help today.” Nora bowed her head lightly when she saw Alric walking toward him. He signaled her to follow him and soon they entered the office.

“Your uncle is hiding many things. The director!”

“I know!” her hands clenched into a fist. “But collecting proof would only make him wary. He must have believed that I was a naive girl until I became an adult. If I showed my fangs earlier..”

“You would be killed!” Alric’s face darkened when she nodded. He could not forget the marks he had seen on her skin.

“How about you revoke their guardianship? I am sure there would be a way in our law.” Nora laughed as she closed her eyes. A way! Law!

“Even if my guardianship was transferred to my other relatives, they will hold the power over them. Either it is my mother’s side or my father’s side, my uncle and aunt dominate them. I can only wait to be an adult.” she sighed! She might waste a year but then she would be free from their grip.

His eyes stared at how she hid her helplessness under her strong personality. She was like a hedgehog covered with thorns. But now he understood why.

“If you want help..”

“I do not. I could have handled today’s matters too. I had my plan. But now.” she shook her head. She was going to prove that her family did not treat him like they showed. But Penny was slapped!

Even if she was scolded now, they would only think Stones are strict parents. They would never believe that Nora was discriminated against.

“We have shared so many things together. Must you always draw a line between us.” Alric took a step toward him.

“Ha! You and I are strangers sharing a few paths. How could we help each other without a motive.” even her whole family, her blood relatives did not help her. The world was full of greed and she would be a fool to believe anything could come free.

Looking at the wariness on her face, Alric felt something stirring in his heart. He took another step forward toward her.

His eyes had a predatory look that warned Nora. she was startled, instinctively backed away.

But Alric was quick; within two steps he was through the door, grabbing her wrist, his large hand gripping her waist tightly, pulling her into his chilly, fragrant arms. While he used the other hand to close the door.

Nora stiffened under his warm embrace. Her mind collided with the sudden change. It took her a second to react. Alric lowered his head. He saw how the girl was leaning on him with a frozen look.

She had shared intimacy with her so-called boyfriend who was not even here. Yet, she looked so confused and naive!

Alric’s icy gaze slowly softened, a trace of warmth seeping through.

This woman, she felt good to hold, but she was too skinny.

“Are you even eating these days? Or you are still suffering from the menstrual pain?”

“..” Nora blinked. Her face flushed and she looked like she wanted to open a hole and hide there. Surprisingly, she had felt no shame when she had discussed this matter with her kidnappers. But now he asked her. She coughed.

The usually composed woman looked flustered, tucking her hair behind her ear awkwardly.

“… What are you doing? Let me go!” Nora finally asked him after composing herself. She started to struggle. It was just a simple hug. Yet, when he let go of her, he felt an emptiness he could not describe.

He wanted to pull her in his arms again but the woman was vigilant this time. She would not let him do it.

“I was not joking when I was offered a post in my company. You can use it as your shield until you turn into an adult.” Nora blinked, a strange feeling had enveloped her. She could not shirk away how he was always there for her.

How he had put his life in danger last time without caring about anything. She had watched how he had cut every finger of the kidnapped who had touched her with a cold look on his face.

“Why!” she could not help but ask, making him frown.

“The position is good. If you work seriously, you can earn a good experience and it will be beneficial for your future. If not, your family could not hurt you for the meantime. I will tell your uncle, if you didn ot come to office, i will come searching for you.” looking at his dominant attitude, Nora bowed her head.

His smell still lingering on her body.

“I will think about it.”

“I will come looking for you in two days.” Surprisingly, the man did not pressure her for a reply. He only nodded as if the reply was in her expectations.

“I need to go now.” Nora held the door as if it was burning lava. With force, she opened the room and left with hurried steps.

Alric ran a hand in his hair feeling exhausted suddenly. He felt drained after their conversation.

“I have never thought it would be too hard. You are like a moth, yet I am the one getting attracted to you.” he chuckled softly and sat on his chair. Many files were waiting for him.

The door soon opened and the manager of the hotel entered.

“You have called for me, sir?” Alric raised his head and stared at the elder man.

“Yes, thank you for offering a good deal to Stone. Give him a big deal again. Make sure that he becomes a permanent customer of ours and always give him the room he had taken today. If the room is changed..”

“I will make sure it will be equipped with all the essential tools before offering it to him, sir.” the man completed the words bowing his head. Alric nodded in response,

“Good! Get your bonus from the HR department.”
