Chapter 277: No More!

Nora slowly walked back to her room. Her back was covered in cold sweat. She had already expected that she could hear something like that! Yet, hearing it had left goosebumps in her skin.

“My past life felt so pathetic now!” She didn’t even know the whole truth even after living twice. It was much more than money and the couple was disgusting.

Suddenly, she wanted to take a bath as if their filth was attached to her skin.

She washed her skin hard. Thighs where her uncle’s hand lingered for a long time. Her cheeks where he had touched her with an excuse of taking care of her. What kind of thought that man was having in his heart at that time?

She shuddered just by thinking about it. Nora heard her phone ringing and only then did she realize that the water had turned cold a long time ago.

Wrapping a robe around her, she returned to her room only to see Victor’s missed call.

She dialled the number. Hoping his voice would give her some relief.

“Hello..”

“You did not invite me for your congratulatory dinner. It had been two days since you had returned yet you did not contact me at all. Are we even in a relationship or you are just.. Forget it! What was I even expecting?” Nora was stunned to hear Victor complaining like that.

“See you do not even care to give me a reply. It was a mistake to call you.” Before she could return to her senses and repl him, Victor cut the call.

Nora stared at the phone with a look of disbelief.

“Ha! Do you not know that I do not have the permission to invite someone. And what if you were noticed by my uncle? Do you have any idea how dangerous it could be!” Nora shook her head and closed her eyes. What was she even expecting?

Nora laid on the bed and closed her eyes. She frowned when the phone rang again. Her eyes opened with force. She rubbed them and stared at the screen.

It was already four am. Victor was calling again. She picked up the call with some hesitation.

“Hello!”

“I was waiting for your call all night. Yet you are sleeping so soundly. Do you even love me Nora?” Nora sighed. She had enough of this question already.

“Are you drunk Victor?” it would be better that he was! At least there would be something to blame.

“Is that all you wanted to ask?” The voice came after a long silence and Nora closed her eyes.

“Would you have replied to me if I had called you back?” Nora asked back, rubbing her temples. She felt the warmth there. She had forgotten to wear clothes.

It was already her period yet she was busy handling the tantrums of her family. She felt all her strength was drained.

“So you have already judged me at my worst! Nora..”

“Victor, I did not plan the dinner and I did not know the time or venue. There was no way I could have invited you. And I have returned to my family. Do you not know how they treat me? Would I get the chance to spend time with you this easily?”

“…..” her voice was full of grievances. It was not the first time he had dubbed her and complained to her. It felt like every time it was her mistake. She was letting him down just because she did not love him.

But had she not told him that she did not love him from the start! He wanted a chance and she had given it to him. Why were they blaming them? She wanted to shout it out loud. But thinking that she was being too insensitive, she sighed.

“Victor, school will start in two days. We can meet there. How about we discuss all your issues at once there?” a hollow laugh was heard from the other side and for some reason, Nora felt her heart hurt.

For him, for her! She felt like they were only hurting each other.

“You are too heartless, Nora.” The call was cut again. Nora stared at the phone for a long time before sighing.

“I am indeed a heartless woman.” closing her eyes she slept again.

Next morning when the maids knocked on the room, Nora could not wake up. Her head was burning and her whole body was shivering with cold.

“Will you let her participate? Will you let her enter the company!?” Sophia could not handle it anymore? The moment David opened his eyes, she spat the question that worried her whole night.

David frowned as he looked around. It took her a second to remember where he was and what happened last night. He rubbed his temples hard.

“Those old geezers offered me too many drinks. Could you order a hangover tea for me?” looking at his nonchalant attitude, Sophia clenched her hands into a fist. Her eyes burnt with rage.

“First! Answer my question. Are you going to let Nora enter the company?” David frowned. His head was throbbing hard. Yet Sophia was shouting loudly that he felt a nerve would burst.

“Have you lost your mind Sohpia!” he glared at her and stood up from the bed. “You are asking me like I have the right to decide. If the management asks her and she would accept it, I have no choice but to let her be there.” Sohpia gritted her teeth and followed him.

She slammed the door of washroom open where David was splashing cold was on his face.,

“And if they ask you to let her join the company, would you? What if they asked you to appoint Nora in the management team or worse as the director or manager? Would you do that too?” David glared at his wife with bloodshot eyes. He wanted to tell her to fuck off yet he took a deep breath.

“Sophia! I have a splitting headache and I do not have time for your tantrums. If you would not leave right now, I will and then I will not be returning anymore.”
