Chapter 297: Disappoint You

“Yes, you are right. Aunt! The property should go to its rightful owner.” Sophia’s eyes narrowed looking at Nora’s reaction. “And I do not have any interest in them anyway. I would get a job easily.” Nora lowered her head with agreement and smiled.

Sophia frowned. She was sure she had seen hatred in the eyes of this girl! There was something about Nora that made her wary. Even though Nora had cleared that she was here to submit but on her own conditions, she felt danger from her.

“That guy Victor, is he giving you confidence?” Sophia leaned closer, “Nora, everyone needs family to survive. And the promises of young boys are not worth believing..”

“I understand that.” Nora nodded readil confusing Sophia again. “Now, I will be late for my run.” she bowed her head lightly before running away.

Sohpia’s eyes narrowed. There was something wrong. Her gut was telling that Nora was dangerous even when her eyes were sincere during the conversation.

“I will handle her later!” will! What the hell was David thinking about? Gritting her teeth, she returned to her room where David was still sleeping. She pulled the duvet and threw it on the ground.

“Wake up! Are you going to sleep all day!” David frowned at once when he heard Sophia’s shrill voice.

But as she opened his eyes, his head spinned. He held his head and cursed.

“Now you are feeling the headache! And had planned to pass it on me too? David, you have lost your mind.” Sophia gritted her teeth as she scowled at her husband with rage.

David frowned deeper. This woman had lost her mind completely. These days she just shouts and glares at him like a crazy woman. How he wanted to slap her to silence her. His face went red with anger, but he took a deep breath.

“What the hell, Sophia. Do you need some medicine or what? It is the weekend, I want to rest in my room after working hard all day. Must you create a fuss over everything?” he threw her pillow on the ground and turned to sleep but Sophia stopped him.

“By resting… you meant getting drunk and spouting nonsense?” her eyes were burning with rage. “David Stone! Tell me the truth, you are missing her right. You are missing my sister! You are still not over her. You have lost your mind to the limit that you are seeing my sister in your niece and having wrong thoughts about her. You are disgusting.”

Nora pulled the earbuds and closed her eyes. Her chest heaved and her face looked horrified. She sat on the ground to hold her breath.

Her uncle was in love with her mother and.. Damn! Disgusting word did not even do justice with that man.

“Hey miss, are you alright?” Nora raised her head to see a concerned jogger. Only then did she realize she was sitting in the middle of the track with a devastated look on her face.

“Ah! Yes, I am sorry. I was just exhausted by running so much.” She stood up and went to the bench when the man only smiled and continued running.

It was worth taking the risk to fix microphones near their bed. Who would have thought they would be so clueless. Nora curled her lips. As long as they would make a mistake, she did not need to live with them for a long time. Their demise would come sooner than expected.

As she checked her mobile, she found a missed call from Dr Max and one from Victor.

Sighing, she called Victor first. “Hello.”

“Hi, Nora. I heard from Langdon that you came to the office yesterday. But there was some misunderstanding. You should not be so cold to her, she didn’t know it.” Nora’s lips curled into a sneer.

How many red flags were she going to ignore for him when she did not even love him in the first place?

“How about we meet today? I will pick you up after work. We can discuss the business and enjoy dinner too.” Nora closed her eyes as she heard his nonchalant voice. Her hands tightened slightly.

She had thought it would continue for a bit more time. Until she convinced her family that she had someone to lean on, and she did not need their properties. But everything had to end one day.

“Alright. Then I will see you at seven.” Victor frowned when he heard the pain in her voice. He looked at his phone as if it was the machine’s mistake!

A strong girl like Nora never felt pain. After exchanging a few more words, he cut the call and finally looked at his moher.

“Are you happy now? I have told you she is fine.” Mrs Jhonsons sighed.

“Foolish child, it feels like you are blaming her for bringing a cold to Langond. VIctor, Langdon is your boss but Nora is your lover. You should set your priorities well. No matter how strong the girl is, she still wants to be pampered by her lover. If you were so casual, you would lose her.” she warned with a loving gaze that Victor sighed.

He felt a pinch of guilt. After visiting Nora’s home. He had been too confused and behaved coldly with her.

“I am just busy these days, Mom. but I promise I will make it up to her tonight.” he hugged her tightly and she sighed.

For some reason, her eyes dimmed.

“I hope you would be happy with her, Victor. That girl is a gem.” she could only warn him at this point.

Victor only laughed and hugged her tightly. She had not seen what he had. Nora’s life was messy. One after one there were so many men around her that it was hard to trust her. Even her family was so different from how she had depicted it. His worries were only natural. But today, he could clear it for once and all.

“I will never disappoint you, mom.”
