Chapter 303: Ran Away!

“I do not drink sir! I am still a minor.” She stared into his eyes when she noticed a dark look there. Their eyes locked and the air around them changed.

“Yes, four more months to go. I apologize! Shall I order milk then?” he raised his hands in defence with a soft chuckle full of sarcasm. “Or shall I escort you back to the office.”

Nora stood up with a cold look. This man would follow her. She did not need to worry about an impression since she was a game for him.

“No, since the meeting is completed, I will take my leave for today.” Without waiting for his reply, she walked out of the private room.

Everyone looked at her stunned. As an employee, she just walked out on her boss!? Benard’s eyes narrowed with a dark look.

“Mr Benard!”

“It is alright, she is still young. Time will teach her everything. Lets share a drink first.” he raised his hand and the glasses clinked.

The men tried their best to divert the topic. But everyone could see Benard was pissed. His face was cold and dark and his eyes unapproachable. After finishing the second drink, he stood up and left.

The moment he walked out of the room, he called Nora.

“The number you are trying to reach is switched off.” once, twice!

“Damn it!” Benard threw the phone on the ground while gritting his teeth. “She would regret it. Nobody dared to raise their voice in front of me.” This was the first time in his life that a girl had dared to leave him.

Nora on the other hand closed the door of her car and entered the house.

“Where is Penny?” The maid was surprised that Nora asked for her abuser. But they have seen how Nora held power these days. So she did not dare to ignore her.

“Young Miss is out with madam. Sir is in his study.” Nora raised a brow. The maid was testing the waters. If Nora had the strength to go meet his uncle. They were trying to test her value.

“Hmm, bring a fine bottle of wine there.” the maid blinked. But when she noticed Nora was already walking toward the study, she gulped and went to bring the bottle.

Nora knocked on the door twice before entering. David was sitting on the desk and reading papers. He frowned when he noticed Nora there.

He closed the file and stared at her with a confusing look.

“Aunt sent me to the office today. She told me that I could not continue my study and needed to work now.” the man sighed with frustration.

“Nora, she is only thinking about your welfare. After all, the company was started by your father. Even if you study, you can only secure a job for yourself. Are you not getting it already?” Nora wanted to laugh looking at the careless look on her uncle’s face.

He was not even trying to look sincere. As if it did not matter since she did not have a choice.

“But if I don’t study, how will I be qualified enough? How will I learn to work?” She argued only for him to grit his teeth in annoyance.

“Bernard will teach you. Nora, he is a great man. As long as you follow him, you will reach new heights.” looking at the irked uncle, Nora bit her lips.

The maid knocked on the door and entered with a bottle of wine and two glasses in the tray.

“I did not order wine.” he frowned deeper. “Have everyone in the house lost their mind and think they can do anything and go anywhere?” he slammed the table hard for the maid to stop in her tracks.

She looked at Nora worriedly with an accusing glance.

“I have asked her to bring it. I wanted to convince you so..” Nora dragged her words as she stood up and took the tray from the maid. When they were just an inch away, Nora leaned, “do not send any staff here until uncle asks. He is in a bad mood. I am only saying this for your own benefit.” the maid blinked.

But Nora did not continue lingering. She held the tray tightly and walked back to the study table. The maid fidgeted with her dress. But when she noticed the darkening face of David, she decided to accept Nora’s favor.

Nothing good would come with this man getting drunk. Bowing slightly, she closed the door behind her.

“Uncle, I want to build a better future. What if Victor’s family did not like it.” she filled the glass of David with a pleading look.

“Ha! What is good about that young boy except his face. His family is not good enough to stand with us. Spencer’s were much better. That young man, Alric, was more qualified. If you would have chosen him, I would have listened to you. But Jhonsons!” he scoffed with a look of disapproval.

Nora bit her lips harder and passed the glass of David.

“Still uncle, if you can consider it.” David snatched the glass and drank the liquid in one gulp.

“These days, I have suffered enough because of you. Your wildfulness had made Sophia worried. She and Penny come complaining to me every day. Do you have any idea how I am bearing it? If you had been more submissive, I would not have stopped your education.” Nora sniffled when he scowled at her with a cold glare.

She filled another glass for him and whimpered, “please uncle, i know that i am wrong. I will improve.” she leaned on the table, showing a good amount of her cleavage. She noticed how David’s eyes flickered. He drank the glass slowly this time but his eyes were still on her.

Bastard! So he was really having thoughts about her. Disgusting!

“Uncle, there must be something I could do to change your decision.” she passed him another glass with a seductive look.

“That… i… slam!”
