Chapter 32: Deal With It.

Nora hid the smirk on her face. One would think that the papers had fallen from her hands out of nervousness.

“Nora, what did you do?” Penny shouted again. But Lisa, the girl in black dress, held Penny’s hand and shook her head.

When everyone looked at her, she whispered, “if we tell her, she will be alert. It is better to talk to authorities about it.” Penny’s lips curled.

“Yes, it would be better if I did it properly.” ha! She had insulted me with that doctor that night. Now she would be proven a cheater and fraud. “But what if she was rusticated because of that?” she covered her lips after saying so. Her eyes widening with shock.

Lisa shrugged and looked back at Nora who was arranging their beds. For some reason, she looked too different from the Nora she had seen in the past. Her eyes were too clear and calm to be a fraud. But she pushed that thought away. After all, the girl had not participated in the exam but she had won it?

“Then let it be. I hate liars. And liars deserve punishment. Because of people like them, we are not able to thrive higher.” her eyes had a glint of malice in them. Others did not say a word because of the intimidation.

“There, it is done.” Nora returned with a fawning but meek smile on her face. When she noticed the file in their hands, her expression did not change but she extended her hands to take the file back from them.

Lisa had already taken out the marking certificate and placed it in her pocket. So she returned the file without a fuss and left for her bed with a cold smile. The two other girls followed silently.

“You had created enough troubles recently. But now that I am happy, I forgive you.” she smirked as she patted Nora’s shoulders with a look of satisfaction and left for her bed.

They had left the smallest unused bed for her. Nora slowly looked at the file in her hands then at the bed Penny was settling in and the smirk grew wide.

In the morning,

When others woke up, Nora was already gone from the room. But her things reminded them that she was still living with them.

“Are you sure we are going to do this?” another girl with red hair and freckles on her face asked in a doubtful tone, “last night she did look panicked after seeing the file in your hands. Perhaps, we should ask her first.” she fidgeted as she saw Lisa writing a written application demanding action.

Lisa snorted as she finished her application and forwarded them for their signature. Penny was the first to come forward and sign it.

“She must be faking it so that we do not doubt a thing. But in her mind, she must be scared or why would she offer to make our bed and behave so submissive. The fawning smile on her face made me nauseated.” she sighed when she saw the girl playing with her bracelet out of nervousness. “Hannah, you have been trying to get good scores for so long yet you have only achieved top five because people like her use shortcuts. If we do not punish her, more people like her would be bold enough to come here. Do you want that?” Hannah, the girl with the freckles closed her eyes and inhaled a deep breath.

“I think you are right. Let’s do this.” She signed the application and soon followed them to the warden.

The woman was enjoying the coffee with a newspaper in her hands when the girls knocked on the door of her small office. “Miss Megan.”

The woman frowned at once as she nodded for them to come in.

“Have I not told you to not disturb me in the morning until it is an emergency?” then she noticed something and sighed, “if you are here to complain about your new roommate then i am not in the mood to entertain your tantrums go back and prepare for your classes already.” she looked at the watch in her hands, “you have only half an hour left. No?”

They all felt intimidated by the old unmarried woman whose eyes were sharper than daggers. But Lisa still extended the application.

“The girl claimed that she had cleared the olympiad exam but she did not even sit in the exam. Neither is she a good student at our school. Her marks are barely passable.” she spoke in one sentence afraid that she would not get the chance to speak, “miss Megan, the girl is a fraud.”

Frowning, the warden took the letter and the marksheet with it and adjusted her glasses. She had her own doubts last night. But she did not express them because she had a permission letter but now…

“Are you sure about it?” She asked with a gloomy voice. “It would be pointing fingers at one of the higher authorities too who had allowed her in the dormitory.” Lisa clenched her hands into a fist but nodded with a solemn look on her face.

“Very well then.” The warden stood up with the letter in her hands. “I will come with all of you personally and meet the dean. Let’s see what we can do about this. But if you all were proven wrong..” she did not need to complete her words as her silent warning echoed in the room.

“That would not happen, miss Megan. I witnessed that she had not attended the exam. Though she is my cousin and I am feeling bad for her, I could not let something wrong happen in my presence. I will speak if needed even if I get punished at home later.” Penny replied with enthusiasm. It looked like she was fighting for justice. But her heart leaped with joy.

“Since you all are so sure. I will use my personal influence to get it dealt with today only.”
