Chapter 327: Doomed!

“What is the meaning of this! I have already paid enough yet the videos are still trending. Why is it not even blurred!” David gritted and spat with such force as if he wanted to kill everyone around him.

His face looked dark and dishevelled. Gone were the times when he looked prim and perfect. The manager shrunk. Even he did not understand why the news channels were not cooperating with them. Usually, they follow them like a dog but now..

“Someone is behind this. There is no way everyone decided to rebel at once.” David gnashed looking at his helpless manager. “Contact all of them and offer double the amount. No matter what, the news must be taken down this instant.” petrified, the manager nodded and ran at once.

David pinched the space between his brows when another shareholder called him. From last night, how many directors had called him? He even forgot the counting.

The door knocked and an old man entered the room. He stared at David and then at the ringing phone.

“Mr Connard.” the man scoffed and cut the call. David’s phone stopped ringing.

“An emergency meeting had been organized today.” he leisurely looked at his watch, “it would start in two hours. Prepare yourself for the worst.” the man did not spare another glance at David.

Instead of begging them for favor and forgiveness, the man was ignoring them as if they were asking for a loan. Ha!

“Wait! Mr Connard.” David knew the situation could not be salvaged. If only the video had vanished.

“What is it?” Mr Connard waited patiently as David walked to him.

“I know that I have lost this time and if the meeting is about forcing me to step down from the position of CEO, then I will not argue and follow your plan for the welfare of the company.” Connard was surprised. He had expected David to fight for his position to the end.

After all, the company belongs to the stone family. And he had maximum shares.

“But?” Connard raised a brow. There was no way David was sacrificing everything for nothing.

“But I need your help. Your son is a technology expert and could hack any system he wanted. Right? I even heard that he is working for the government. If he could take that video down..” his voice was full of desperation.

Gone was the shrew businessman they often face, only a helpless father was standing in front of Connard. The man sighed. The video was too disgusting. Penny could not survive in this city anymore.

“I will see what I can do. But I can not promise anything.” disappointment flashed in David’s eyes but he could only nod and return to his seat to make more calls.

Connard sighed and called his son. He indeed was an expert in his field. The video disappeared from the internet and trendy search in half an hour.

But before David could celebrate, the video returned. Many anonymous users posted it again, hurling insults on Penny.

“The slut had hired hackers now to save her face. She had not thought of it when she seduced her friend’s boyfriend.”

“People like her are too disgusting. Want to hide the truth? Like we let you do it!” The insults were too much.

David threw the phone on the ground feeling heaviness in his chest.

Connard, who was waiting for gratitude, could only frown and dial his son again. His face went grim and when he cut the call, he did not know how to continue it.

“Mr Stone, my son had taken the video down. And he could do it again. But he is claiming that you have offended the wrong people this time. Even if he takes down the video a thousand times, the other party is bent on uploading it again and has enough funds to bring it on trendy search in just half an hour.

You do not need a hacker but find the person behind it and convince him to take the video down.” David slammed the table hard. His eyes were bloodshot. If a murder was needed, he would do it without flinching.

He stood up, making Connard frown again.

“Where are you going, Mr Stone? The meeting would start in an hour.” David paused in his tracks.

He did not care for Penny enough to leave his position. But he knew their name was attached. If he behaved indifferent toward her and tried to save his position, he would even lose their pity.

Right now, he had to prove himself as a good father so that he could claim his position before. With an aggrieved look, he sighed.

“I do not have a choice, Mr Connard. I could not let my family suffer. I must go.” Connard sighed. He understood the severity of the condition.

“Fine! I will postpone the meeting till lunch. You must return by then. I will see what I can do to support you.” David looked at the man with gratitude and then bowed his head deeper before leaving hurriedly.

The man felt a headache building in already.

“Damn it!” He cursed and dialled several numbers.

“What? The meeting is postponed? But why? I thought we are not going to be lenient on the Stone family this time.” the directors frowned and wanted to refuse but Connard sighed.

“He did not ask for help. If he had, I would have refused at once. But just because he did not ask for any help, did I want to help him? ” When others did not understand, Connard explained what happened.

“Forget it. It was the mistake of his daughter. It is not proper to hold him liable for it. At least we can offer him some time. But..” someone paused and others caught on immediately.

“But we could not let him continue as the CEO.” Everyone nodded and the conference call was disconnected just like that.

“David Stone, I did what I could. But your doom is decided.”
