Chapter 336: Marry Me!

David walked in but his path was blocked by an older woman smiling at him politely.

“Sir wanted to meet you before the meeting starts! Please come with me.” That was not a question anymore. Sophia held her husband’s shirt tightly but he shook his head signalling Sophia to not follow her.

He pushed her hands slightly before following the woman looking too kind yet followed by four guardsmen.

Nora took a deep breath as she walked in the office. Her hands were wet and sweat was trickling down her neck.

“I can come with you, if you want.” Alric offered but Nora shook her bread.

“You do not have shares of the company. They will not let you stay. And.. I want to do it myself. Do not worry, I will bring good news.” Alric stared hard at her. How he wanted to tell her that he did not care what news she was going to bring as long as she was happy.

The smile on her face was all he wanted. “I will come to fetch you. Call me when you are done.” Alric wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer for a kiss.

The kiss was nothing more than peck yet it froze her. She only blinked when he had let her go. The teasing smile on his face made her blush and look away.

She had kissed so many times in the past, but she had never felt this strange warmth in the pit of her stomach. Could a simple gesture make her desire for more? She shook her head to brush that feeling away.

“I should get going.” she did not meet his heated gaze but pushed the door open and went in.

Alric chuckled looking at her red cheeks, a strange warmth filled his chest.

“Family! It is not that bad.”

The room was empty when Nora entered except the staff and secretaries preparing the files. The staff was surprised to see Nora.

“This.. miss, we know that you are the niece of Mr Stone but the meeting is reserved for shareholders. If you want, you can wait outside to meet him. I will arrange some refreshments for you.” the secretary spoke politely as she opened the door for Nora.

“I am the shareholder now.” Nora took out the file David had left for her in the morning. The secretary was stunned to see Nora held fifteen percent shares now. She looked at Nora again, this time more polite than before as she guided Nora to her seat.

After a minute the door opened again and Chris entered. Nora smiled at him politely when he laughed.

“It looks like my secretary will leave the job in a day. Was I such a bad boss?” his smile should have made Nora uneasy. Even when she had destroyed her uncle and aunt, she could not get rid of the fear she had for him. But surprisingly, she was not that scared anymore even when they were alone in the room.

The staff brought tea for both of them.

“We are still waiting for many shareholders to come. I apologize for the delay. Please enjoy.” Nora looked at the door with a frown. She had seen her uncle entering the building.

“Mr Stone is already here. Call him and then we are good to start. Other shareholders had already sold their shares to me, they would not come.” Chris’s eyes flickered with a dark ray of light and his lips curled. She noticed the thrill in his eyes.

A look when he had found an interesting prey. His eyes gleamed for hunting,

“Strange! We do not need to wait for your uncle and aunt too.” he took out the transfer papers. “They sold me all of their shares an hour ago. I hold fifty percent shares of the company and I suppose.. You hold the rest of the fifty percent shares. Right?’ Nora’s grip tightened on the documents.

She had given her sweat and blood. Used all kinds of tricks to get these fifty percent of shares. David had fought so hard with her. Why did he give his twenty five percent to Chirs Benard?

“Hahahaha! Since the meeting is about how we should deal with the mess David had made, the matter is already sorted.” Nora flinched when he laughed like that. Suddenly the air felt less in the room.

“But we can use this chance to welcome our new shareholder in the meeting. Nora Stone! You own fifty percent share of the company. Isn’t it marvelous?” he laughed. “Since we are the only ones left, we need to make new rules for the company. You know, Without a specific mechanism like a tie-breaking vote or clear shareholder agreements, we would theoretically have equal power. However, the lack of a clear decision-making authority could lead to operational inefficiencies or conflicts that might harm the company’s performance.”

Nora understood it too well. She had never thought they would collide at this critical point. Otherwise she would have fought for one more share from his uncle. Her eyes were red with hatred.

Chris enjoyed how Nora fought with her emotions. But he was surprised. David had estimated that the girl had at least twenty percent shares. But fifty! She had convinced every single shareholder to buy their shares for her. This girl was much more impressive than he had thought.

“Or you can buy shares from and be the owner of the company.” Nora’s gaze flickered and she stared at him with a tempting look. Chris smiled sweetly as if it meant no harm.

“What are the terms and conditions? If you are willing, I am ready to buy all the shares you possess.” Chris laughed. The shares cost millions despite their fallen price. Yet she did not bat an eye offering the amount. Interesting!

“Hmm, I can sell only twenty percent of the shares. But I do not lack money. I want something else.” Nora paused. Her heart reached her throat but she did not show her fear on her face.

“And what that could be? Name your price and I will try my best to get it for you.”

“I want you to marry me.”
