“You are going already? You have just come, Penny.” Lucy smiled tilting her head. Penny flinched looking at the smile on Lucy;s face. How could Lucy be the organiser? Her family was not so rich. Lucy had always wandered around her to maintain her image.

The thought brought Penny some confidence.

“I have come here to donate with my mother since it is for a noble cause. But if I had known that you would be here..” Nora looked at them with disgust. “After betraying me, you still have the nerve to stand in front of me.” she glared hard at Jamie.

“You!” Jamie was stunned. He would have accepted if Lucy had accused him. But Penny! Were they not partners in crime?

“Ha! Hahaha!” the sound of applause echoed in the large and empty room. “I never knew that you are such a good actor, Penny. Even when the whole school knows that you are the third party, you still have the nerve to act innocent! It is only because you have had wealth in the past. But what do you have now to boost yourself this much?” hearing the voice full of contempt, Penny was raging.

Lucy! She was a girl who had crawled on her feet all her life. And now, she dared to stand in front of her as if they were equal! She was just like that bitch Nora! They think they could stand her equal just because they have some power now.

“I was dating Jamie. But you seduced him and had sex with him just because I liked him. You were not even interested in him in the first place. Or you would have dated him after this incident. Tell me penny, is it not because you can not see others happy? You are just a shameless woman. Yet you have the nerve to stand here and speak! I would have died of embarrassment if I had been at your place.” Lucy spat with hatred. Penny tried to look away but looking at the eyes full of disgust, she could not bear anymore.

“Lucy! You are meant to own my leftovers all your life. Do you not remember how you used to wear clothes I did not need anymore? The purse I have handed over to you. So what if i have used Jamie first. A man like him does not deserve to stand with me. You should be glad that I have given him a few tips. If not for me, had he ever looked at you?” Penny paused and covered her face with her hands. The dark room was suddenly lit too brightly.

It took her eyes a few seconds to adjust with it. But when she opened her eyes again, her face was pale. She was so shocked that she shook her head. But the scene in front of her did not change. She was standing on the stage?

The walls were nothing but curtains! Someone had opened them and now the whole public was facing her.

A look of shock and disgust was on their faces. Penny took a few steps back instinctively. Her whole body was freezing.

“Mom! Let’s leave please.” her daughter’s voice was heart wrenching. Sophia could only gulp the insult down her throat and leave.

But as they walked, many snickers and insults fell into her ears. She had been thoroughly humiliated tonight.

Nora stared at Benard with a blank gaze surprising him.

“You did not hear me wrong.” he replied softly, making her nod.

“I know my ears are fine. But I do not understand your intentions, Mr Benard.” Nora was relieved that her voice did not shake despite the fear crawling her chest. “I do not intend to marry you. But if you have a professional deal, I am on. Do contact me on this number.” She stood up like a professional as she passed him the recently made cards.

“And as long as it is about proper working of the company, I am sure we will find a way.” she walked toward the door gracefully when she heard him chuckling.

“I am not sure Nora. I am a very stubborn man. I do not believe in sharing my toys. Your family had promised you to me twice. And now you are dating men after men. My patience had already worn out.” Nora’s hands tightened on the door handle. Her eyes brimming with unshed hatred.

“I am not a toy, Mr Benard. It will be easier to accept if you look at me like a human. But if you still face trouble, you are free to meet Alric, he will help you in accepting the truth.” her voice was harsh yet the man only smiled at her as if he was hearing a joke.

“Oh come on, Nora. Do you want me to believe that you fell in love with him when you were dating Victor Jhonson just a day ago? Think about it, I can offer you a better deal.”
