“You do not blame me, do you?” Emma laughed when she saw Nora’s eyes. The girl was smart to be fooled. I was ordered by my boss to keep an eye on you but supporting you was my choice.” Nora stared at Alric with a cold glare.

“She is to keep an eye on me? To make sure that I do not harm Alex and fulfill my promise?” and here she thought that she had found rare friends. How foolish could she be!?

Looking at her red face, Alric frowned.

“No, she was there to make sure that you are safe. As she said, she was your bodyguard there.” Nora only laughed at those words but her eyes were cold.

“And why would I need one? Why would you even provide me one?” It was nothing but a lie.

Alric did not like the accusing tone she used, but he still maintained his calm face.

“Because I was worried that I am putting your life in danger by asking you to follow Alex. I knew that he was dealing with the wrong people. And I was worried that you would be harmed in the crossfire. Emma had never reported anything to me. She had just helped you when needed.” Emma nodded hurriedly as if she was worried that she would be misunderstood too.

Nora looked away. She did not understand why she was being too sensitive? Even if Alric had appointed someone to keep an eye on her, it only made sense since he had paid her a hefty sum.

She should only be thankful. But for some reason, she felt her chest tightening.

“Nora! I will never distrust you.” Alric repeated as he took a step closer. Nora took a step back instinctively. Alric noticed the empty space and frowned.

“Alright, I understand. I still need to finish my dinner.” She returned to the dining room. Emma looked at Nora’s retreating figure with worry.

She had noticed their relationship was not simple. It was the first time she had seen Alric explaining someone.

“I figure you disappeared because your task was done after Alex left?” Emma flinched at the remark and licked her lips while looking at Alric.

The man groaned.

“She was punished for not protecting you.” His voice had a hint of coldness. Nora frowned. Not protecting her?

“You were supposed to follow me that day? But how would you know that I am going to search for Alex?” Emma bit her lips further. She had never seen a bold woman like Emma to be submissive.

“She was hired for that.” Alric gulped the whole glass of water at once. “And I hope she will not disappoint me twice.” Emma stood straighter at the remark. “You can join her from tomorrow. Your job is to protect her from danger without standing out as her security and do all the dirty tasks for her. She would be your second in command.” Emma nodded and left without a second glance.

Nora shook her head. She had no right to blame Emma since she had used the girl too. But at least she was honest about it.

“You do not need to be so harsh to her. She has helped me many times and I am still grateful to her.” Alric paused at her remark. His brows furrowed.

“So you are not angry anymore?” knowing her nature, he had thought she would give him and Emma a cold shoulder.

“I am.” Nora nodded, making him sigh. “But not from her. She was only following orders like I was while keeping an eye on Alex.” Alric could hear resentment in her voice and closed his eyes.

“I do not have a choice. If not for this…” Alex might have died. Alric was doubtful but Nora was sure and then he would have killed Amyra! But why Amyra? And where had that woman gone? “And this is to show my sincerity to you.” Nora raised a brow when he placed a file on the table.

Her eyes widened when she read the contents of the file. It is about Amyra. All the dirty deeds she had done, rules she broke and crimes she had committed here and overseas. It was enough for her to stay in jail for a lifetime.

“Amyra had been sent back to Austria by her father.” Nora raised her head. How did he read his thoughts?

“Did you send one to her as a threat? There was no way she would back down so easily.?” she asked with a hint of curiosity but he shrugged and stood up.

“Go and rest, tomorrow is going to be a long day.” Nora watched as he left. He had closed the door already when she stood up. Nora washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen since he had cooked.

But sleep was the last thing in her mind.

Kai had just finished the long meeting where David Stone had visited the school and demanded to receive a tour. Then he harshly commented on all the policies made by the school. Kai rubbed his temples exhausted when his phone rang.

“You!”

“It is time that I fulfill my promise.” Kai paused. He had not expected her to call since she had never contacted the school after returning. But…

“You have already helped me by winning the prize. I was awarded too and my position in the school has been secured since then.” Nora could hear the exhaustion in his voice.

“But now that my uncle has joined the school, you are not sure about the future.”

“…” kai did not reply. He knew it was not a question anymore.

“I have a plan but I need your help.” Kai’s eyes widened when he heard the plan.

“Are you sure about it? What if he did not fall for it?” Nora laughed at the other side. Though the future had completely changed and she could not predict anything. She knew her uncle more than anyone else.

“He would! You do not have to worry about it. I just want you to be prepared when the time comes. I will do the rest.”
