Chapter 348: You Have Killed her

“Ha! And you want me to believe in it?” Sophia sneered. Yet she could not let go of the temptation. She glared at the man sitting beside her before pulling her seat and sitting on it.

“Marion, you can leave if you want to. The family drama could be dirty sometimes.” she had noticed how Marion was glaring at the woman already due to her tone. Yet when he turned to look at her, his face was full of smiles.

“Nah! This was the first time you have invited me for dinner. How could I let go of this chance? I will wait till she leaves.” Nora shrugged and then looked at her displeased aunt.

“Ask him to leave again.” Sophia declared when their eyes met. Nora rolled her eyes. What made the woman think she still rolled the dice!?

“I have asked him as you have heard.” she smiled but the warmth did not reach her eyes. “Nora turned eighteen today. I thought you all would be busy celebrating.” Nora raised a brow. Penny flinched at the side. Her rage made her tremble. “Serve a glass to my aunt.”

Sophia scowled at Nora.

“It was all your mistake. If not for you! Don’t think I do not know that you have planned the auction incident. All those insults you have thrown to us! You will pay for them.” Nora laughed looking at the ugly face of her aunt.

She leaned toward the woman with her eyes cold and dark.

“If i will be punished for telling the truth, should you not be punished first for killing my parents.” Marion gasped and looked at the woman with a petrified gaze.

Sophia flinched. Her face turned ashen. She had never expected that Nora would speak about her parent’s death in public.

“What… what nonsense are you spouting?” Sophia stood up at once and only then did Penny come out of her stupor. Though relieved that her mother was leaving, she wanted to know about Nora’s parents too.

“Relax aunt. It is as I said, I have not invited you to dig the old graves. I have a gift for you.” her voice softened but Sophia was not a fool to fall for it.

Yet she could not take her eyes off of the documents. If she could get them, their future would be better.

“As long as she gets married to Jamie, everything will be solved. Then it would only be remembered as romance between young couples. No?” Sophia would have never accepted a man like Jamie. But this was the only way her daughter could be saved. They could help Jamie in settling. They would make him live with them to ensure that Penny lived a better life. Once the issue would die down, they could get a divorce then. It would be perfect but Jamie’s parents had refused at once! They dare!

Sophia did not want to send Penny away. But Penny did not see it like that. Penny felt like her family was trying to get rid of her to save their face. To the limit they were ready to marry her to a man much beneath her class.

“Did you not hear me! Serve my aunt a glass of wine. She needed to calm down.” Penny flinched. She was stalling for time. To find a way so that she could warn her mother about the poison in wine.

But now.. Hesitating, Penny poured a glass of wine mixed with poison for her own mother. She told herself that she had no choice. If she would not pour the wine, Nora would be suspicious and knew about her identity.

Her mother could choose not to drink wine offered by Nora. That was what she had done.

Nora frowned when a drop spilled on the table. Marion glared at Penny as if she was a pest.

“You are good for nothing. I will make sure that you will be fired tonight.” Penny ignored him. Her eyes were fixed on the glass Nora had taken.

Her heart was in her throat.

“You want this. Don’t you?” Nora repeated and only then did Sophia sit down again, looking reluctant.

Nora smirked and passed the glass to Sophia. She picked up her own glass.

“Jamie and his father want this deal. As long as you offer it to them, they would accept the marriage proposal. But are you sure you want Penny to marry a man like Jamie? I am sure he had many mistresses all over the city.” Nora raised a brow and looked at Sophia with amusement.

“Like you have left us with any choice.” She snatched the documents from Nora and read them. Penny’s heart was about to burst.

Nora was playing with her class of wine. The liquid swirling softly gleaming under the light. Each second felt like an eternity to her.

“What do you want in exchange?” Sohpia had reviewed the document. It was a fifty million dollar deal. If Jamie’s family could have it, they would sell Jamie easily.

“Hmm, how about we discuss it after the drink. For the happiness of your daughter.” Nora raised the glass. Sophia looked at her own glass reluctantly. But she knew she had to play with Nora’s terms.

From the start to the end, she did not raise her head to look at the server standing behind them. Penny stared at her own mother with conflicted feelings. As long as they both drink.. Nora would drink too. She had been playing with the wine for a long time.

Sophia raised her glass enough and Nora clinked her glass. The man followed their actions. Penny watched as the glass rose toward Nora’s lips. How the liquid rose after the glass titled and it finally touched Nora’s lips. Everything happened in slow motion.

Her eyes gleaming with joy. Finally! Finally this slut would die and her life could be free again.

But before she could enjoy this rare victory, a glass fell on the ground.

“What happened to her!?”
