Chapter 350: Poison In The Wine

“You!” It took a few seconds for Penny to realize what Nora meant. “But how could..’ she did not understand. Only she and Ethan knew that she was going to act as a waitress and mix poison in the wine. How did Nora know? And how did she plan all this?

“Ethan!” Penny gritted the word with venom in her voice. “That bastard!” Nora shook her head. She had no idea Ethan was included. She faintly remembered the man when he had visited their school to help Penny that night.

“Did you hear her? There is a man named Ethan who supported her. He had an equal part in the crime.” Marion’s words stunned Penny again.

Nora did not know about Ethan? Then how did she know about her plans? She looked at Nora in bewilderment when Nora sighed.

“Are you not worried about your mother at all? You know why she ignored you on your birthday and came to meet me?” Nora asked with a sigh. Even if she hated all three of them, she still respects Sophia for caring so much about her selfish daughter.

Her obsession about the happiness of her own daughter had brought this demise on her. “She wanted to blackmail Jamie to do a contract marriage with you to clear your name. She wasn’t getting rid of you to save herself.” Penny froze at her spot.

But then she shook her head. No! It was not her mistake. She meant nothing wrong.

“You killed her. You know that I have mixed poison in the wine. Yet you asked me to serve her.” Penny spat and struggled again. She wanted to strangle this woman to death.

“You have mixed the poison so who knows about it better than you. Yet you poured the wine for your own mother and even let her drink it?” Nora raised a brow, disgusted by this girl. Why she had never realized that Penny was sick in her head. “I gave you a chance to save yourself and your mother. But you chose to poison her till the end. And yet you accuse me?” Noea wanted to laugh but she felt sick to her stomach.

Just looking at Penny made her feel nauseated. She covered her mouth as if she was going to vomit. Only then did Penny remember that Nora’s lips had touched the wine too. A strange relief filled her.

Even if Sophia died and she was going to jail, Penny would die too. Once she died, her father would save her from the prison. He would not blame her anymore.

Looking at the relief on her face, Nora snickered.

“I have already taken an antidote. The nurse had already confessed her crimes and submitted herself to the police. Even if I had drunk the whole glass, I would have survived. Not to forget i have only tasted it for fear that you have mixed other poisons too. But it looks like my fear was for nothing. You are just a fool.” Nora spat with disgust.

Penny’s eyes widened only then did she realize that her revenge was nothing but a clown show for Nora. Nora was not going to die but her mother died. And now she was going to jail for that crime.

As if she lost all her senses. She kicked in the air and bit the policemen holding her. The man groaned and kicked Penny in return.

“You are under arrest for killing your own mother. You have every right to stay silent but if you spoke, every word would be used against you in the court. And dare not bite me again bitch or I will make sure that you regret it.” the man snarled at her.

Penny shook her head. Tears never ending.

“Did you not hear her? She knew about the poison yet she asked me to serve wine to my mother. I was acting as a waitress. What power did I have? She gave that wine to my mother. She is the murderer. I am innocent, let me go. Mom! Mom! I want to see my mom.” her screams went louder and louder.

Many had taken out their phones and recorded the whole scene. Nora watched as Penny was dragged like a wild animal.

Since she was struggling so much, the police officer slapped her hard again. There were so many marks on her body already.

“Ethan!” Nora whispered the word softly. She had no memory of that man from her past life. But if he had brought the poison and successfully sent Penny as a waitress then the man could be dangerous.

“Are you alright?” Marion was completely sober. He looked at Nora with concern. Nora shook her head. Her heart was heavy. Who would have thought that Sophia would die with the hands of her own loving daughter. Nora was sure that Penny would refuse to serve SOphia she would confess or commit a crime or run away after throwing the bottle. But this!

“I am fine! Thank you for the act today. You played it well.” the man stared at Nora with glint in his eyes. When he was contacted by Nora and told that a woman was going to serve them wine, he was petrified.

But now that he looked at Nora. he wondered how many times had she suffered a situation like this to be so calm.

“Come, i will ride you home.” he offered but Nora shook her head. She looked at the distance. Alric was leaning on the door of the entrance. Though he was wearing a mask, she had noticed him the moment he had come.,

“Someone is waiting for me. I will contact you later.” the man nodded. He watched as Nora walked toward Alric.

Alric stood straight. He took off his coat and wrapped it around her shoulder. His eyes met Marion’s and Marion noticed a warning in them.

He splayed his hand on Nora’s back and guided her out of the hotel. The police officer was waiting for them near their car.

“Mam! We need your statement later. The woman had died already.”
