Chapter 355: Foolish Girl

“Do not create a scene, Maddy. Boss could be here any moment. How about you let her fill the form and take an audition?” the girl named Maddy frowned. She bit her lips and stared at the door as if waiting for someone.

“It would only take a few minutes. I am sure your boss would not come by then.” Maddy glared at Nora for speaking as if they were friends.

But she could not refuse her boss. She could only drag Nora inside and pass her the form. Nora filled the form leisurely. As she scanned the room. She could hear the gossip of the recently hired actors and all.

“Are you done? How long would it take you?” Maddy asked in an impatient voice as she glared at Nora.

Nora feigned ignorance and returned the form to Maddy.

“Tsk! You do not have any experience in the field and yet you have chosen supporting characters? Though you have good looks, you do not know how to act. It would be a miracle even if you get the chance to stand on the stage as a background character.” Maddy scoffed at Nora and took out a script randomly.

“I will ask Debra to come and watch, but if you make a fool of yourself, she will throw you out instantly.” Maddy walked out with a gleeful face. Nora did not know why she was suddenly cheerful.

Was it because she could ruin Debra’s chance to meet the boss too or she was eager for Nora to make fun of herself.

Nora chuckled softly as she read the script. She had no experience when it comes to acting but she had been acting every single day after getting reborn.

The script is about a young girl who had infiltrated the enemy house and worked as a maid there. The lines were from the scene where she had been found searching for something and she was making excuses. She had to look innocent yet sharp at the same time. The scene was too demanding.

She heard footsteps returning. Maddy folded her arms in front of her chest and glared at Nora impatiently. Debra was much calmer. She sat on the seat and explained the scene to nora.

“Are you ready?” her voice was soft as she asked. Nora nodded only to get a sneer from maddy.

“Then hurry up! Do not waste our time.”

Nora took a deep breath. The moment Dabra signalled, her facial expressions changed completely.

“I did not take anything, sir. I am not a thief. I was only here because madam asked me to clean the room before she returns.” she sniffled, but as she covered her face, a cold glint flashed in her eyes that stunned Maddy. Debra nodded and clapped.

“That is enough. You did a good job. I will ask the boss about hiring you. You can wait here with us.” Nora nodded with joy and followed Debra and Maddy out.

Maddy kept glaring at Nora. but Nora only heard their whispers.

“Is this company new? I heard that the boss had blackmailed many to join here.” the actor who had left the shoot to welcome Nora felt offended at once.

Maddy smirked looking at foolish Nora. even Debra looked displeased. But a few started complaining at once.

“Is this how the company is going to treat us? First they forced us and now they are humiliating us in public.” a girl frowned glaring at Nora.

“It is alright. We have gotten better contracts. I am glad that I was asked. I would have joined without any force too.” a man shrugged.

A few others also shared their thoughts. Alric had finished his discussion. He returns to the company to search for Nora.

“Here he comes! You all should know how to behave.”

But as the door opened by him, Debra asked everyone to stop discussing. They all surrounded Alric and welcomed him.

“Welcome sir! We all have been waiting for you.” Alric frowned when he found Noa bowing and welcoming him too.

“What is…” before he could ask, she shook her head. “All this! You should all be working. There is no need to stand here and wait for me. I am only here to check some files. If anyone has something to report, they come to my office directly. Rest of you, go and start working.” he looked at Nora meaningfully before walking to his assigned office.

The staff frowned but under his cold gaze, they all scurried away.

“He is colder than I thought.” Maddy complained with an aggrieved look. Dabra was staring at his retreat.

“More than that, is he not Alric Spencer? Recently he is all over the news. I did not know that we were part of the Spencer group? Are they trying their hand in new fields?” Nora watched them discussing.

She noticed how many of them returned to their offices and started working. How the assistants and managers explained to actors and actresses about their work and upcoming assignments.

But a few just lingered here and there complaining and chatting. She watched as Maddy, through complaining, called many employees and distributed the scripts.

“Hey you! Debra had already selected you for the next round. Why are you standing like a fool there? Go and work hard or you will be kicked out of the office.” Maddy hissed when she saw Nora staring at everyone.

In her eyes, Nora was just a young teenager perhaps having a crush on many of these celebrities.

“The work is not divided equally. A few of them are working so diligently while a few were just sitting around. I was just looking, did they not get any offers?” Nora clicked her tongue as she walked toward Maddy and then pointed at a group playing cards.

Maddy glared at Nora at once and pulled her closer.

“Do not be too meddlesome or you will be thrown out. They are closer to the boss. Even if they do not work the whole year, they will not be fired but you.. Tsk! It would be better that you learn one thing or two. One day! I will be closer to the boss too.”
