Chapter 365: What He Likes!

“It tastes wonderful.” she whispered softly. Nora turned to look at Alric and felt mesmerized again. Maybe because of the dim light, his eyebrows looked warm, and there was a vague smile on his lips.

“How did you know that I liked red beans?” even though he had forgotten that. His mother used to make red bean soup and rice. It had been so long ago.

“I did not know.” Nora hesitated. She could not tell him that it was from a long time ago. Max had told him about Alric’s obsession with red beans when they were already married. The words in passing came to her mind when he was choosing the drinks.

After taking another sip of her tea, she continued walking forward in the same direction like they had been before. Alric noticed her red face and the smile widened.

She must have noticed it somewhere. It meant that she cared! Suddenly the drink felt much better in his hands. He held the cup with one hand and wrapped the other around her arm as they walked.

“What else would you like to eat?” It was midnight. Most of the people on the pedestrian street had left, while they were still there, walking slowly. Nora was not sure if they could eat after the milk tea?

She was still confused when her eyes fell on a shop about to close.

“There is a famous shop here selling burgers, you should try one. And this time I will buy it for you.” Before Alric could refuse, Nora ran to buy two burgers for each of them, returning the empty cup in his hands.

Alric watched the empty cups. Two men following him from a distance were equally stunned. It was hard to digest that their boss stood in the line to buy tea. And now he was tasked to throw garbage?

They ran a step closer only to be glared at by Alirc. The man froze on their places unsure. Alric threw the cup into the nearest trash can. And watched her.

There was a couple standing in the line before her. Their daughter was sitting on the bench.

The little girl was holding the lollipop and licking it with a beaming smile. As she finished the sweet in her hands, she ran to her parents but bumped with a stone and rolled on the ground.

Nora held the girl before she could hit herself. Her reflex actions were no less than the men trained under him. He still remembered the way she had fought when they were kidnapped. She had even saved Alric.

But his indigestion did not find her training her.

“Alric?” Nora who stood next to him, with two burgers in her hand saw Alric lost in his thoughts and froze beside the trash can without responding for a long time, so she couldn’t help shouting his name.

Alric pulled himself back to reality, then took a burger from her hand and continued moving forward. He soon found a bench for them and pulled her beside him.

“Nora! How did you fight so well?” His voice was casual, but she could feel the suspicion in it. Her grip on the burger tightened.

“I have been learning it since childhood so that I could take revenge on my family. I do not have professional training but I have been practicing it for years.” her voice did not hold many emotions. But he could imagine a girl bruised and battered trying to stand up herself and fighting without any help so she could not be bullied again.

Strangely the image overlapped with her during childhood. Each time he ran away, he was not coddled or soothed to return.

But the guards would find him and beat him until he could not take a step out. As long as he did not die, his father did not care how much he was beaten! How many times had it been he had sat alone in the room and planned his revenge in his mind.

“You do not need to fight alone anymore.”

It was almost empty on the pedestrian street. It was extremely quiet except a cool breeze that blew by them. Though he whispered those words lightly, she heard him well.

She turned to look at him with a strange pain in her chest. Alric too, turned around to look at her.

The breeze passed through her hair. A few hairs flew onto his chest, while a few swept onto his neck. It tickled him, but it also gave him the feeling of comfort.

The world seemed to stop revolving at this moment. The peace and quiet stayed with them for a while until she smiled.

“You have already helped me a lot. I have never thought that I could take my revenge so early. I thought I would be able to get my company back only when I graduated. But now I have so many companies under my name and my family is…” she had planned to kill them by her hands but she had to live in the shadow of being a criminal.

But he had helped her with his powers to push them to the brink and now Penny was living as a criminal while she… she stared at his calm face. He rarely shows any emotions. But she knew he was indulging him. She was special to him. She was even brave to believe that she would be the only one in his life.

Feeling her gaze full of emotions, Alric felt dizzy. He held her hands tightly and looked into her charming eyes.

“That is nothing. When you will be my wife you have all the powers in your hands. And then you can get revenge on any person you want. Even if you burn the world, I will stand behind you and clean the mess for you. So should we get married soon?”

Alric paused as the words left his mouth. He could usually control himself well. However, whenever it came to her, he couldn’t keep his composure, sometimes even ruining whatever he had planned ahead.
