Chapter 366: She Is Reluctant!

Alric had planned to propose to her on her birthday. He had planned it to be grand and memorable. Yet… here he was! Sitting on a bench with a border in her hand. He wanted to slap himself.

The only relief was she did not think much of it as their marriage was set in stone. He did not tell her he was giving her a choice. If she wanted to refuse, she could.

“We still have two months to plan. I will follow your plans.” she smiled softly and took her hands away to continue eating her burger.

Alric knew that it was not intentional. Yet for some reason his chest felt empty. Her reply was so simple. It even felt forced for some reason. But he shook that feeling away.

“Shall we continue..”

“It is getting late. Shall we leave?”

“….” Nora froze at her place when Alric turned to look at her again. Her experiences of last marriage had overwhelmed her when he asked her. A man is only devoted to you until you are hard to get. Once you belong to him, he is bound to lose his affection!

A man only loves challenges! She was a challenge for Alric. But after marriage, she would not be one. Nora bit her lips. She knew she had to explain to him before it grew into a misunderstanding.

She had already promised marriage to him. What if he thought she was planning to go back on her words.

“It is just, I am still too young. I am nervous about marriage and all.” Alric watched her intently. He did not feel like a girl Nora could be nervous about anything.

But she was not even eighteen. It was indeed too young to get married. Even the young girls get married in the past at the age of twenty five. He was twenty five but she was not!

Should he give her a few years to grow and see the world? But what if she fell in love with someone else by then?

What if she decided to leave him for good? After all, he had a company to run and she would complete her degrees. There would be many men around her age in the university.

It was normal to develop love there. Alric sunk in his thoughts. His mood worsening every passing second. The burger in his hand was crumpled under the pressure. His hand slammed the bench hard. No! He could not let this happen. He would tie the knot and bind her to him.

So even if she regretted choosing him in the future, she did not have a choice. He would show her what love is! He would make sure to pamper her and cherish her. He would have a loving family. Not like his parents.

Nora blinked when she heard that hard slam. She turned to look at him in confusion only to see a dark one and angry face. He was in such a good mood earlier but now he looked like he wanted to murder someone.

Her reluctance had ruined his mood? Nora too felt guilty. Her reply was logical but very dull. What if he found her a flicker minded woman. He must have some reason to marry her! What if she was disrupting his plans.

Nora shook her head. She would not waste time in guessing but ask Alric directly.

“You seem upset? Are you tired or do you have something in your mind?” She took the ruined burger from his hands and took out a handkerchief to clean his hands. But before she could do that, Alric held her hands tightly and stopped her.

The remnants fell on their clothes but he did not care. He looked into her eyes intently.

“Even if you feel you are young. The marriage will happen since you have signed the contract.” His voice was full of determination but it sounded harsh when he spoke those words intently.

Nora flinched at once and looked away. He was holding her hands too tightly, she could feel the slight pain from the grip.

“I understand.” she nodded and lowered her head to hide her pain. But her actions made his heart ache. He was too harsh but why was she so reluctant?

Could it be that she was forced into this marriage? But she seemed happy earlier when they were walking. And she never minded when he kissed her to be intimate.

“I am tired. Can we return now?” she repeated her words leaving him stunned. He wanted to make her feel special. But now he had ruined the mood. It was their first date yet it ended like this?

“How about we take a picture first?” didnt young couple enjoy taking pictures together and post it online? Perhaps, she would feel more comfortable if he behaved like those young fools! She had enjoyed the walk earlier.

Alric’s thoughts were a mess. He wanted to show her his love so that her liking developed into strong feelings but he did not know how! It was his first time dating and he felt at loss.

Nora could not follow his chain of thoughts anymore. But taking a picture could let her return to her room and sleep. She was more than ready to oblige.

She nodded and took out her phone to take their picture. Alric watched her on camera. There was no smile on her face. It looked like someone had placed a gun in front of her and forced her to take the picture.

Normally, he was a cold person who did not care about minor things but for some reason, her upset face made him furious. Could she not see his efforts at all.

“Are you ready?” Nora asked, adjusting the camera. It was hard since he was much taller than her and she had to stretch her hand to bring him in the frame. It had taken a while to set her in this perfect angle.

But before she could click the picture, he took the phone from her hands.

“Forget it! We are returning.”
