“Are you feeling better?” Nora glared at Alric. He was to blame for her pain. She had begged him to let go but he did not relent at all. Looking at her aggrieved gaze, Alric looked away.

“I just got carried away. I will control myself more in the future.” Nora sighed and leaned on the seat.

“You seem so strong and flexible when it comes to martial arts. How could you be so weak at this! I thought…” his voice fell when she glared at him again. Her face was red and even her ears were beetroot.

Alric took out a glass bottle and even opened it for her. She took the bottle and gulped it down. The cold water relaxing her tightened nerves.

“I will just sleep till we reach there.” her voice felt so exhausted that Alric wanted to curse at himself. How could he not care about her?

Looking at his face, she grumbled and Alric could only nod and sigh.

He took out a heating pad and passed it to her. Nora placed it inside her top and closed her eyes.

Alric could not help but look at her again. She looked so vulnerable, so enticing. After touching her last night, he did not let go because he was afraid that he could not control himself.

When she closed her eyes, he went to the washroom and stayed inside the cold water for a long time. These two last months felt like centuries. How he wants to marry her already. The car moved with difficulty since there were a lot of reporters gathered outside the court.

“Father is missing? Who would save the ruined heiress now?”

“Killed her own mother! Does a daughter deserve justice?”

“A girl with a vicious heart! She wanted to kill her sister but her mother died instead. Still had no remorse!”

The voices of reporters’ heads filled a large area. Those who came to watch the hearing were stripped outside the court for an interview.

David Stone, once a reverb man, was suffering with such insults now. Nora opened her eyes and watched the scene intently. Alric had stopped the car but he did not force her to come out. He waited patiently as the police van stopped beside them.

Penny was dragged outside of the van. Her face was covered with a thin veil to hide her identity but who did not know her there?

The reporters pounced on her as if the beast had found its prey. They wanted to devour her. The police surrounded Penny so that the reporters could not reach her.

But they were all experienced, they found a breach and pushed their mike toward Penny.

“Do you have any remorse for killing your own mother, Pennelope Stone? Are you going to plead guilty?” Penny froze at her spot.

Why in the world would she plead guilty? She tried to move but more vicious reporters surrounded her.

“A woman like you should die! Why are you still standing there! Shameless!” the moment he spoke someone threw a rotten egg on Penny.

Her eyes widened and she screamed when the smelly liquid covered her hair. She picked the cat and threw it on the ground with an ugly face.

That was just the start, soon rotten tomatoes and eggs were thrown on her from every side. Since the crowd was agitated, four policemen were not enough to stop them.

“Stop it or you all will be arrested and dragged to the police station.” the police officer threatened. But it was hard to arrest the whole crowd.

Even the crowd knew that well. So even when The whistles and shouts filled the area, no one really stopped.

Penny had long taken her mask and cap and thrown it on the ground. The police were busy making sure that she could not run away. They did not have time to stop her from getting interviewed.

The reporters took the benefit of chaos and surrounded penny.

“Why have you killed your own mother?” asked one while others stared at her intently. Penny felt at loss of words. She looked around frantically for help.

But who would help a criminal? They all wanted to devour her.

The bell was heard and the crowd was chased away. Backup team arrived to take Penny inside the court. But until the crowd was cleared. Penny had several scratches and wounds on her body. She was covered with smelly tomatoes and eggs. Her condition was a mess.

She was sobbing and screaming hard but non one came for her help. They all looked at her with contempt as if she deserved it.

“I want to take a bath, I can not enter like that! I want to wash myself first.” she shouted only to get snickers in return.

“Do you think you are a noble heiress and we all are you servants? You are only a criminal here.” the police officer dragged the handcuffs with force.

Penny staggered and was forced to move inside. Tears continued to fall from her eyes but not a single person felt pity on her. She was just a criminal who had killed her own mother.

Nora finally came out of the car. Five bodyguards were already waiting outside. The moment she walked out, they surrounded her and escorted her and Alric inside the room. Looking at the abandoned building, Nora’s lips curled into a sneer.

“It is your doing. Isn’t it?” Though Penny had killed her mother, cases like this fill the court everyday.

But the crowd was too harsh to Penny as if they wanted to devour her. Alric looked at the police officer in the distance. When their eyes met, the police officer nodded his head slightly and walked away.

Alric smiled. His hand reached to support her waist and guide her inside. He neither accepted nor refused, yet Nora had her answer. She smiled. Her gloominess from before disappeared and she let him hold her like before.
