Chapter 376: Abandoned Her

Nora’s furrowed brows told him she hardly knew about the matter. A shrewd smile appeared on his face. Nora instinctively held her bag tightly. She might not know about the matter but his smile already explained.

“Mr Spencer, it would be better if we do not beat around the bush. What is it that you want from me?” Mr Spencer raised a brow and his lips curled only deeper.

“How are you so sure that I will give you a chance and not reject you instead?” before she could speak, he added. “Those three companies had the investment of my family only. You can not boast about them to improve your image.”

Nora shook her head lightly. “Alric is still waiting outside for me. So I do not want to drag the matter. If you wanted to reject me, you would have never called me here. You could have dealt with me without Alric knowing.” The man finally laughed and slapped the table once again.

“Yes! That’s the reason I chose you instead of Amyra. She has made many mistakes while you always use those troubles and opportunities to grow closer to Alric.” there was a look of satisfaction in his eyes.

But Nora was stunned. She wanted to believe that it was not what she was thinking. But his suggestive smile did not let her be delusional.

“So… you knew about the kidnapping. What else did you know?” The man only shrugged and took out a file.

“I have accepted all those brazen activities from Amyra because she had promised that she would convince Alric to return home and take over my business. He would follow my instructions like a good son. I have the same offer for you. I will continue to invest in your companies. It is either your uncle or his business partner, Chris Benard. I will deal with them for you. As long as I get my stubborn son back.” Nora took the file from him.

Nora’s eyes widened when she flipped the pagers. He smiled looking at her stunned gaze. It contained twenty percent shares of every business owned by Chris Benard. And the last page left her ashen. It contained a long list of crimes committed by David. From bribery to tax evasion. If the words go out, David would be destroyed.

He noticed the desire and hatred in her eyes and smiled. It was easier to control her than Amyra. His son had made a better choice.

“I apologize for the air, but I will pass.” Nora stood up returning the file. “Now if you excuse me.”

“….” he frowned. He had never expected that Nora would refuse. He had noticed the temptation in her eyes.

“Wait! Wait a minute. Are you letting go of such a perfect offer? You do not need to do anything except talk to your pillow. And convince him to return home. In exchange, you would be a billionaire. You would have dozens of companies under your name. Not only that, I will complete your revenge.” He was speechless. The more he thought about it, he was sure that Noa was playing hard to get.

Did she want him to increase the stakes? Of course, a girl like Nora would have bigger dreams.

“I can negotiate the matter too.” he added kindly as if he was a god. If she asked for sun, he would bring her a son.

Nora’s lips curled but her eyes were cold.

“It is a pity. How you could control the world, but you can not control your own kids and need my help just to bring them home.”

“You bitch!” he glared at her. The kind man was gone and replaced by a cold and cruel businessman. “Do you think I can only offer wealth! Remember Nora, if I let you stay in his life. I can make you disappear from this world. If I can choose to destroy your uncle, I can give him enough strength to destroy you too.” Nora puaaed. She knew it was not an empty threat.

And looking at his face, she knew he knew where her uncle was. As long as she accepted his conditions, she could achieve everything. And it was not like he would hurt Alric. He only wanted him back. There was nothing to lose.

Looking at her conflicted face, he sighed.

“I do not want to be so cold to you, Nora. My son likes you. And I want to like you too. So why don’t you take some time and think about it?” He took a step back like a generous person while smiling cordially at her.

Nora smiles back making him relieved but in the next moment.

“Sir! It is not about whether I am tempted or not. Your offer is the best. The revenge I am planning painstakingly could be done by you in just a blink of your eyes.

But I am sorry, I can not use Alric as a pawn. He had shown support to me. It is my turn to support him in his every decision. If he decides to make a name for himself and leave your name, I will follow him. I do not care if I am rich or just a middle class earner doing a job in a small company. In the end, I only ate three meals.” Nora bowed showing respect. “But I am relieved that you are not a cruel man. You only wish for your son to return to you. I will pray for it.”

“….” under the stunned gaze of Mr Spencer, Nora smiled and left the room.

Alric was not waiting for him outside. She held her purse tightly. Could it be he had left her thinking she was just like others. Her eyes filled with worry and she looked for him around but she could not find him anywhere. In the end, she had no choice.

“Excuse me, did you see Alric?” She walked to the secretary’s desk and asked her politely. The woman frowned and pointed at the exit.

“I saw him leaving ten minutes ago.”
