Chapter 378: No One Except You

“Nora!” Alric sighed.

“What the hell do you think of yourself!” a voice came from the other side. Alric pulled Nora in his arms when the door of the office flung open and stood there with his father with a dark gaze. His face was a mixture of red and purple.

“This girl! I knew from the start that a naive young girl would not be suitable for you.” he glared at Nora as if he wanted to tear her apart. “If you think hiding her in your arms would save her, then we both know how foolish your acts were! Have you not learnt your lesson yet?” ALric stiffened at once.

An image where he was holding his mother like that flashed in front of his eyes. His body went cold immediately. His father smirked looking at his ashen face.

“I have given her a chance because you liked her, Alric. But look what she is doing? Insutkling us in the public. Creating a scene in front of the staff.” The man looked at the collected crowd for a passing second. But it was enough to scare them out of their wits.

They took a step back and ran out of the floor. Soon everyone left and only Alric, his father and Nora left. Alric wrapped his arms around her tightly when she glared at Alric’s father.

“He is a human too. How can you treat him as if he was nothing but a tool.” her voice rose only for Alric’s father to snicker.

“You lowly fool! What do you know?” his eyes filled with contempt.

“You…”

“Take her away before i regret it.” he warned Alric but his eyes did not leave Nora for a second. Nora did not flinch away. The air around them became thinner. It was hard to breath there but neither Nora, nora Alric’s father were ready to bow down.

“Nora, we are leaving.” Alric’s voice deepened and he dragged her out from there. Nora glared at his father before wrapping her arms around him.

“You should have told him what you feel!” Alric’s grip on her waist tightened. His face looked still calm, but his eyes dark and flickers with a dark glint.

“Ha! Running away like always. You are only good at this.” Alric’s father shouted as the door of the elevator opened again and Alric entered in with Nora.

Nora wrigged in his arms again when his father snickered at them.

“Let me go! I will teach this man a lesson.” she grumbled but Alric only held her tighter until the door closed.

His eyes met his father before the door was fully closed. His eyes had a hint of warning in them, they shone like a beast had marked its prey. It left his father stunned for a second before he laughed loudly.

“Ha! Hahaha! Now he has learned to threaten me too.”

Alric held Nora tightly. And when she still struggled, he pulled her up on his shoulders and walked her out.

Nora was stunned by his sudden action. He was holding her like a sack of potatoes. Her hands were reaching his back while her heels hit his torso as he walked out.

“Alric! Let me go.” she struggled but afraid that her heels would ruin his crisp shirt. She punched his back a few times but his grip did not loosen at all.

“I will after we reach the car.” he spoke calmly but Nora could feel every single eye on them as they crossed the large office.

Many staff stood up in their cubicles and stared at the strange scene with interest. Nora’s face turned red, it was dripping blood.

She lowered her head further and hid her face though she knew everyone had seen it already. Alric walked leisurely toward their car. He opened the door from one hand and then pushed her inside from the other hand.

Nora’s back leaned on the seat only then did she take another breath. Alric closed her door and then walked toward the other side with a leisure pace.

He opened the car door and started driving. As if they only had a casual conversation. His face did not show any emotion.

As the car started, he opened a bottle of water with other hand and passed it to her.

“Are you feeling better?” Nora shook her head. She was feeling awful. Even if his father was a scum. Should she have created a scene like that!? What would he think about her? More than that? What if mr SPencer took revenge from him? She could accept anything but if he would suffer because of her!

“Stop thinking whatever is going through your brain!” he sighed. “I know what my father would have asked you. He only enjoys suspense. So do not feel burdened by it. I will return to his company sooner or later. It had nothing to do with you.” he explained in a soft and soothing voice.

Nora knew he was trying to assure her so that she did not blame herself. But the more he spoke, mre she felt awful.

“Why do you want to go there? You have your own wealth! House and life. That family did not love you in the first place.” Nora took a deep breath. “If he would have been calling you out of familial love and care, then I would have understood. But he only wants you to work as a slave in the company. And what is the guarantee that he will chose you as his heir? What if after using you for a lifetime, he gave everything to Alex?” she could not help but think it was not that simple. Alric looked at her reflection in the mirror with a perplexed gaze and asked,

“Do you think my father cares about Alex?”

“….” looking at her stunned gaze, he sighed.

“You still think too simply of him, Nora. That man loves no one except his power and business. And now, he needed a slave to run it.”
